Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

So we're just waiting for balang, Ceej and atomicnmd to post results now?

Also for CynicalDriver to post the rest of his results?

Oh hahahaha, very funny monkey boi -.- At least I don't cheat by sticking just about every single 'illegal' part on my car before putting it up for share to try and get a better time :) nor do I taser myself or my mates, for that matter :D

The only illegal part when you and nearly everyone tested was that the Racing Softs accidentally swapped onto the car, for which the Sports Softs were sitting there aswell. As for the all the parts when Bri-Y tested.....that's been explained.

Remember, I only taser my monkeys on a very low setting to bring them into line. If I taser you however, I will ensure that it's used at full power (that's if a 200% overload option isn't there!) and repeatedly used until the batteries run out of juice. :mischievous::D

Nah, monkeys aren't smart enough to work out how a taser thingy works :D You'll just taser yourself :D or get carried away when I start throwing bananas at you :)

Testing begun! I am going to use a single post and edit as I go I think. Fastest will be listed first with stock/parts impressions if applicable. In the interest of saving space I will put up only the final tune impressions. I will do proper "ground up" reviews for all of these and post in the appropriate threads at a later date. 👍 Hoping to get everyone done and then go for one more run in each car afterward.

Not a lot to say about this one in my notes. It was quite good all around, as evidenced by having the (current) top time on my leaderboard. The car turns well when coasting off-throttle and at a constant speed. My biggest gripe would be that the brakes seemed to be a tad too snatchy and could have been lightened up just a click or two. Also, were this the real world I would have to see a chiropractor. This is just about the harshest ride ever. I found bumps on the track I didn't know existed. A random pebble on the track and I might be flipped on the roof!

[More to come! :dopey:]

Are you shure it was'nt a squirrel or javali ?? Bumps ??on this track? i don't think so !!:)
The brakes ..... snatchy ???? :guilty: you break my heart !!!:guilty:
I don't understand this urban languages. But it seems my car is a garbage for you ! chiropractor , flipped on the roof.
Ok it's your point of view... Thanks and congrats for the great job.

👍👍

Question, CyKosis link says full but the post doesn't have times for all cars...was there another post I missed?

I'm defo not done with all the cars yet, Sir. I've run Kermit and Jackthalad's Integra, but haven't written them up yet. In fact I'm a little embarrassed to detail my first session in Kermit. I think it's going to be another Lolvo, huge improvements with a second drive...

Well it seems we have an extraordinary range of drivers/preferences here now then doesn't it?

You really want to be the fastest here, don't you? Well, I may as well give your car a run again……or should I just leave things as it is? hmmm…………… ;)

And dr_slump, what time is it on your side? Because I want to trial my Prius punishment scheme and I need someone to pilot the X1……
Of course :D You can drive it again, but please just for fun. I don't want that you change the results.

My local time? GMT+1

Def a great shoot out and hopefully there will be more in the future. Thanks for the for the reviews and in Wallbangers famous words... "Drive hard and drive safe!" or something like that ;)

1.) understeer- the tendency to turn LESS than what is intended.

2.) newtons 1st law of physics states that an object will stay in motion, in the same direction and at the same velocity unless a stronger force acts upon it.

Let's face it, a car with the engine in the front AND driven by the front wheels alone is fine. If you are going to the store, or picking your kids up from school. But when you start to push these cars past what the engineers ever dreamed they would do, you run into the two fundamental problems above.
Dragging a car around a race track by it's front wheels, is less than ideal. Every time you accelerate the weight is shifted back OFF the drive wheels. Limiting traction and lifting your inside wheel during cornering. Ideal? No. Impossible? Nope. You just have to be clever.
I could write individual posts about each car, but why? At the end of the day, whoever circumvents physics the most will be the winner. It's that simple. Fool science, stick your middle finger up at gravity and friction, be the champion.
That being said, very few of these setups would work in real life. These cars would leave all their power on the track in the form of long black streaks, or nose dive into tire barriers and sand traps. The beauty of this exercise however is that this ISN'T real life. These tunes don't HAVE to perform like real cars. Each person here has their own approach to making these very similar ( on paper) cars go fast.
That is the real reason I wanted to participate in this. And I wasn't disappointed. Each car was an extenuation of it's creator and a representation of how they drive. Every tune was unique and I was forced to take 20 different approaches to to tackling a track that I've been racing since the inception of this game. I thank you for that.
Without further adieu.....

DRIVERS CHOICE -- ACAN - CTR

There ya have it! Nice work every one. And to be fair I drove the same number of laps with EVERYONES car. (11) . If I had more time with each Im sure I could've knocked another second off of each. Time wouldn't allow it however, everyone did a great job and it really came down to splitting hairs here. All these cars would be effective on this game.
I'd like to that the organizers of the event, and all the other participants for allowing me the opportunity to get inside your heads a little bit.
Be well, and god speed.

Thanks for driving sins.👍👍

Hope to see you around the next time we need drivers to thrash our tunes.:D

Got two questions for you though...first which car gets your drivers choice award as your favorite car to drive regardless of its lap times?

Second and you don't have to answer this if you don't want to...which car/s did you think were closest to real world setups, or were they all completely unrealistic? Curious because GT5 is supposed to be big on the driving simulation thing so you would think that cars setup closer to the way they would be in the real world would perform better.

Drivers choice is at the bottom of the times... ACAN -- CTR... and honestly I can't remember off the top of my head which was the most realistic. I've looked at so many numbers in the past week. But I'll say in general the cars that would actually run quickly IRL would be the simplest set ups. Like ACANS. I can tell u from experience what works tho. Stiff rear ends, thick anti roll bars in back, coupled with very high spring rates and damper settings. An increase in stiffness in the front is good as well, but the rear bias seems to work well. It brings the a** end around while the front end dips down bit . I know people are gonna have a fit here but front brake bias is a must. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY runs the rear brakes 400% stronger than the fronts. When a car is traveling forward 80% of your braking is in the front simply because of physics. (newtons 1st law). On top of that when braking hard it unloads the rears, which deems the rear brakes almost moot. Matter of fact a lot of FF cars, especially hatch backs will lift the outside rear wheel OFF THE GROUND during cornering.
So I'd say the cars that were set up closest to this -acan's if I remember correctly- would do well.
And as good as this game is, and it's great, it's nowhere near real life racing.
The attenza was a perfect example. The front suspension was way higher than the rear. It would've created tons of lift under the car-Lift is bad- but it didn't on here. Just one example. (don't mean to point fingers, sorry).

Interesting to see that the Mirage actually ran times faster than 2 cars with sins1er. I've been bottom of the leaderboard on everyone else's chart :grumpy:

It takes all sorts!:D and lucky for you and the rest of us we got all sorts.👍👍
