Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

been reading the reviews and you guys are amazingly good at these descriptions. I now know just enough to fix the eclipse tune up from the "Solar Eclipse" version to the improved "Total Eclipse" which will replace the tune in my Garage very soon.
such a learning experience! and I may even finish in the top half, in a car I entered just to be different! (seriously I bought an ITR and what a solid piece of equipment, just a few tweaks and I blew the eclipse out of the water within a few laps!, it.s easy to see why it was chosen by so many).
thanks much Everyone! and to Assasin and Onboy123 and Des, for putting it all together! just plain fun guys!

as for what to do better next time, I say do it with heart, like this event, and all the improvements will simply come naturally!

can't wait to get the email that the results are in!

Well, that's why we signed up for the role of tester, as our language abilities outperforms our tuning abilities. :) And finally! Someone acknowledges my role in this shootout!

Btw, who said anything about an email for the results? :D

Is that 8 full reviews and 2 partial?
Not bad, slow start had me fooled.

What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying that we have 8 reviews and 2 of them are bias or that we have 8 full reviews and 2 little bits of a review? And yea, this is quite a good turnout, isn't it?

Partial = not all cars. 💡 :P

1.) understeer- the tendency to turn LESS than what is intended.

2.) newtons 1st law of physics states that an object will stay in motion, in the same direction and at the same velocity unless a stronger force acts upon it.

Let's face it, a car with the engine in the front AND driven by the front wheels alone is fine. If you are going to the store, or picking your kids up from school. But when you start to push these cars past what the engineers ever dreamed they would do, you run into the two fundamental problems above.
Dragging a car around a race track by it's front wheels, is less than ideal. Every time you accelerate the weight is shifted back OFF the drive wheels. Limiting traction and lifting your inside wheel during cornering. Ideal? No. Impossible? Nope. You just have to be clever.
I could write individual posts about each car, but why? At the end of the day, whoever circumvents physics the most will be the winner. It's that simple. Fool science, stick your middle finger up at gravity and friction, be the champion.
That being said, very few of these setups would work in real life. These cars would leave all their power on the track in the form of long black streaks, or nose dive into tire barriers and sand traps. The beauty of this exercise however is that this ISN'T real life. These tunes don't HAVE to perform like real cars. Each person here has their own approach to making these very similar ( on paper) cars go fast.
That is the real reason I wanted to participate in this. And I wasn't disappointed. Each car was an extenuation of it's creator and a representation of how they drive. Every tune was unique and I was forced to take 20 different approaches to to tackling a track that I've been racing since the inception of this game. I thank you for that.
Without further adieu.....Download: www.ieType.com/f.php?F2ShQd

There ya have it! Nice work every one. And to be fair I drove the same number of laps with EVERYONES car. (11) . If I had more time with each Im sure I could've knocked another second off of each. Time wouldn't allow it however, everyone did a great job and it really came down to splitting hairs here. All these cars would be effective on this game.
I'd like to that the organizers of the event, and all the other participants for allowing me the opportunity to get inside your heads a little bit.
Be well, and god speed.
-SINS-
Nice work mate, thanks 👍

Ok, times up! So now, for the awards and punishments :D The awards will be announced by Desperado. Me? I get the fun job. Issuing the punishments :) So, seeing as 2 of the 3 testers who signed up has disappeared, I'll have issue out the fun punishment for that remaining one.

And……the remaining person is…………

atomicnmd!!!!

So, you'll be required to turn up in a online lounge at some point to take your punishment. A car will be sent to you and you will be required to use that car in the lounge. Everyone else, you know what to do. We have 20 tuners, 8 testers, so the first 14 to sign up will get the spot. :D

Ok, I have to apologize. My schedule got very busy (moving on short notice) and I completely forgot about this until today.

If the tuners would like, I can still review a few of them after the competition, even though it will not count. I had gotten those two reviews in, and drove a 3rd... Then work threw me a curve-ball. :/

To the people running the competition: I also forgot to mention that I don't expect any payment, just use those creds elsewhere. I had fun testing the ones I got to, before my schedule fell to "burning place of damnation."

It's ok, this whole thing is for fun anyways. We order it like this:
1)Family
2)Work
3)Relaxing yourself
…
10000)Driving a few digital representations of cars around a digital representation of a track and then writing about it

So it's ok, at least you knew where to drive, unlike someone………

So with that apology submitted you avoid the penalty of winning 100 straight times in the Fiat expert seasonal race.
Think most of us understand about plans and schedules getting ran over by out of control tank cars.:D

CyKosis and our other two drivers who are missing in action you have approximately 14 hours and 45 minutes to post all times or be turned over to Onboy's tender mercies.:scared:

As for atomicnmd after the multiple epic fails exhibited in your earlier messages I have a completely untuned Citroên 2CV Type A '54 with neither an oil change nor engine rebuild, and an additional 200kg of ballast thrown on the -50 point of the vehicle.(I would have used power limiter as well but for some odd reason it won't let me further reduce the 14 HP the car currently has:crazy::mad:) We shall be expecting to see you driving this car exclusively if you survive Onboy's pack of hungry X2010s.

CyKosis can be excused as I know he's a temporary tester, so therefore this is probably done when he feels like it. As for atomic though……:mischievous: And the reason they won't let you do that is because you can't have power limit a car with less than or exactly 50 hp.

Well, I can post the times still for the Citroen C4 Coupe 2.0VTS '05 that I drove around GVS...

I'm not sure what time the deadline is, but as today is the 16th, maybe it'll help. It was the fastest of the three I got to.

XDesperado67's "Kermit" Citroén C4 Coupe 2.0VTS '05

Again, Grand Valley Speedway, sunny, and in practice mode "Free Run."
I used the following "Driving Options:"
  • Tr: Auto
  • FT: Sport Soft
  • RT: Sport Soft
  • DL: On for first 5 laps, Off for 6-10
  • TC: Off
  • SR: Off
  • AS: Off
  • SM: Off
  • AB: 1
  • GR: Low
  • MD: None
  • SS: 1 (With a DualShock3)

Mine wasn't green, it was "Rouge Lucifer" with white rims (looks pretty sweet IMO.)
This was a very fun car to drive, for me (very close to -raVer-'s DC5) and I will be keeping this car (and tune) in my garage for FF races.
It was also the most consistent, though that could just have been me getting used to the track.

  • First 5
    1. 2:09.485
    2. 2:08.008
    3. 2:08.280
    4. 2:07.666*
    5. 2:08.782
  • Second 5: Did not have to adjust to remain at 500!
    1. 2:12.978
    2. 2:08.638
    3. 2:07.191*
    4. 2:08.966
    5. 2:08.855

Glad to see you've tried, every little helps 👍 This is 'dedication' (or something else entirely), doing this even though you've had next to no time and a busy schedule. This is admirable, even (or just plain stupid), you know you could have just skived and not do it, but you still did. I admire that 👍 :D :gtpflag:

Well, I had driven it back on the 8th, but I remembered that I saved the times with some notes on my computer. So, I did it, but that was before everything fell to pieces. What I'll do for the next shootout is wait until they are all submitted, then pick the top 5 I want to drive, so that I'm not overwhelmed by 20 or so cars.

As for the "Driver's Choice" award... I gotta give it to Desperado's Citro, mostly because it's European, it looks pretty cool, but it wasn't the fastest for me.

Second was Raver's DC5, because it's just so much fun to try and drive seriously, . I'm not much of a fan of Japanese cars (other than the Skyline), but this one was worth driving.

I did enjoy Roj's Volvo, mostly because it gave me a chance to be a bit sarcastic in my review, and though it wasn't as fun as the other two cars I got a chance to drive, it was the fastest.

Oh damn! I almost forgot my driver's choice! Well, I'd choose the Mazda Atenza. It's good looking, a hell of a sleeper, drives like a dream (a rather sideways one, but a dream nonetheless) and goes like a 🤬. Second? Well, I'd pick one of the Civics. Though I have to say, I'd rather tear my hair out than choose between Assassin's and Cooldude's Civic. Both drive great, both are fast, and both do piss a lot of people off if you beat them in an online race. But if I really had to choose, I'd take Assassin's Civic. Just. So, in case you were lost in my ramble, here is my driver's choice:
1st: Adrenaline/Rotary Junkie's Mazda Atenza
2nd: AssassinTuner's Honda Civic
3rd: Cooldude's Honda Civic (it's only here because I'm jumping between decisions)

Oh, don't force or rush yourself, this is…what…the 500000000th least important thing you have to deal with at this point :)

Can someone please send me a PM with a copy of Bri-Y times? For some reason the site he hosted his spreadsheet on will no longer allow me to access his sheet for times and comments.

Thanks Praiano for the assist!👍👍
That link works fine for me.:)

Oops...that is the link to his incomplete and uncorrected list.
Need a copy of his final list still with all the correct times for all the cars.:(

I really need someone involved with the shootout to get me a copy of Bri-Y's complete and corrected times so that I can finish compiling the stats and get the shootout results posted.

:-p These Monkey's do cheat! Not only did it have racing softs (which I removed for the test) RJ is right it was sitting at 547PP some 521 HP.

Finished the test on the GME Civic, pretty nice balance on the suspension but not enough power to hang with the big boys.

Leaderboard Updated

The last link he send is this one...today.

Onboy, Onboy, Onboy...what have you been up to?:crazy:
