Interest check : Mini Cup '05

I'm thinking at running a Mini Cup '05 within a few weeks, and I'd like to have your opinion on this.
The Cup will be very similar to what scuderia229 has organized last year :
- a series of 4 races : 2 on dirt and 2 on tarmac.
- the only car allowed will be the full modded Cooper
- tyre choice was restricted on tarmac races : you had to run once on T3's and once on T7's. Each driver was up to choose which tyre he would use on each track.

You can check what was the Mini Cup '04 in these threads : race #1, race #2, race #3, race #4.

Now the questions :
- when would you like to run this (february, march, april...)
- should we keep 4 races ?
- do we run on GT3 or on GT4 ?
- what tracks would you like to see in ?
...

I think if I were you I'd wait until GT4 comes out. It's only 15 days away here in the US, so I'm about done with GT3. Maybe a WRS if it's one I like, but that's it for GT3 and OLR for me.

If you wait you could also throw the new Mini Cooper into the mix too.👍

The Mini will provide a great opportunity to explore some of the new tracks in the GT4 (like a Mini on ice.

I'm with CFM and Sphinx and Niels.
So that's agreed, the Mini Cup '05 will be run on GT4, thus no sooner than March (GT4 PAL version release date is March, 9th).

Now, what about the format (number of races, restrictions) and the tracks ?
I noted your "Mini on ice" suggestion Niels, I'm not surprised you'd like such a combo : the less grip, the more fun. :scared:

After having taken a look at GT4 track list, I was thinking at a 6-race series split as follows :
surface : 3 tarmac / 3 other (dirt, ice...)
origin : 2 tracks from GT3 / 4 new tracks (or old ones come back)

plus a warm-up race.
Any suggestion from those who already are playing GT4 is welcome

I may be interested in this, I've been running a lot of Citta Di Aria in the arcade Cooper S. That's my favourite car/track combo in GT4 so far.

So far I have only been considering using the 'real' Mini for this. What do you all think about using the new Minis also ?

Other suggest is to use the 4 Minis available in GT4 in a round to choose for the driver

What is the "real" mini? the oldest one is a '98 1.3i. The original mini cooper isn't in GT4.

Yeah, I don't think it's in the US version; I have yet to find it anywhere.

I'll probably join in this series if the new Minis are available to be run.

What a bummer, man. I really love to rally that thing in GT3. One of the only FF cars that I actually enjoyed in the game. Bummer.

In gt4 the old cooper 1.3 is still available as are the new one, cooper & cooper S.

But I think the old one is the one to go for.... how about the citta di aria in the old cooper for warm up race?

"avialable" as in: we can use them in this race.

Iv'e looked and looked but can't find the old cooper anywhere in the game.(US ver)

Are we allowed to use the new ones, Flat-Out?

Maybe they are unlocked later in the game... I have completed my chinese version and I really don't remember... but you can dig that out...

I golded the 5 Mini races : no price Mini
I golded the Lightweight K Cup : no price Mini

Give me a few more days to practice and look for it, and whether I find it or not, I'll post a GT4 warm-up race in the beginning of next week.

it has been confirmed. There is no original mini cooper in GT4 US ver.

I have a code breaker code that puts every single car in the game in your garage...

...and no old mini. 👎 :grumpy:

Thats really weird... I know the PAL version has a couple more cars than the NTSC but I had no idea they had taken some away as well! You can see in the car list here on GTP the old mini is on the NTSC: http://z-o-g.org/gt4cars/british/mini-cooper-1.3i-98.jpg

why does it say that it's a '98? the only year in the US ver is 2002...3 of them.

Because cooper was selling them up until 98 with a modernish interior but the car is the same as the original. Too bad you dont get them that side of the pacific.

In Chinese GT4 the Mini is available from the beginning in legends dealer, but in PAL there is not legends in Mini dealer.

I am afraid that it does not have Mini in PAL GT4 :grumpy:

The real Mini has still not been seen in the PAL/NTSC game, so I'm considering posting a 6-race series using the new Mini Cooper S.
If you're interested in this, please say so here.
If at least 6 drivers are in, I'll post a warm-up race this week, and race 1 will be posted one week later.

Anyway, I'm in. how much time will we be given for each race. I know many people have "real world" obligationsthat prevent them from finishing in 2 days.
