I've finally got my computer back in my bedroom, so now I can write up Race Reports much easier so I've decided to take my favourite car, the Mitsubishi Evo VI GSR TME and race it on my favourite track, Fuji Speedway 90's, against five of my other favourite cars in the Evolution Cup!
In The Pits
I arrived first, before any of the other Five Mitsubishi Evolutions I knew I'd be racing today. No need to prepare my car because this was a Stock Cars Only Race. The only exeption of that rule was Oil Changes and I did that yestersay. So I sat in my Pit Garage, doing nothing for nearly ten minutes when I heard another car outside. I poked my head round the door to see a Mitsubishi Evolution which looked nearly exactly like mine, his wheels looked diffrent but thats all I noticed, both our cars where plain white. The driver told me his was the Evolution VI 'RS' Edition, mine is the GSR TME. It wasn't long before the next Evo came, infact two came together, and Evo VII and VIII, both GSR's. I thought they looked pretty bad compared to my car, one looked a light purple colour and the other was very dark green. We were all talking to each other for at least twenty minutes before the 4th Car arrived, a Mitsubishi IV GSR, in dark blue. Around 20 minutes after that, just under an hour before the race was ging to start, the last car came, on the back of a truck. A Red Mistubishi III came of the back of the truck, then a driver with the same coloured face stepped out the passenger side of he truck. If he was going to enter this race he'd have to be quick repairing his car.
While the last car was being fixed, one of the driver wrote down all the car names on a whiteboard in the Pit Garage, we all picked straws which decided our starting positions on the grid and I picked the shortest straw which meant I start last.
Mitsubishi Evolution IV (GSR)
Mitsubishi Evolution VI (RS)
Mitsubishi Evolution VII (GSR)
Mitsubishi Evolution VIII (GSR)
Mitsubishi Evolution III (GSR)
Mitsubishi Evolution (GSR T.M.E)
It was only now that I noticed that the Grandstands on the Home Straight were nearly full, I was feeling pretty nervous now and the race was about the start.
The Race
I saw the Six Red Lights on the Start/Finish Line, all lit up, now I was waiting for them to disappear, then, the race begins.
The lights disappear and I'm off, me and the Red Evolution (which was fixed just in time for the race) battle down the straight to Turn 1, surprisingly he goes ahead, only for me to outbrake him and the Purple Evo VIII, the Red Evo also overtakes the Purple Evo VIII which I was expecting to go ahead. The white Evo RS nudges me and I nearly go of the track after Turn 1, which slows me down and I'm down to 6th. I don't have enough space to get a good line into Turn 2, but I manage to pass the Purple Evo and catch up to the Red Evo III. I try passing the Red Evo by going around the outside of the Sweeping Turn 3 but it just ends up slowing me down. But I catch back up by underbraking the Red Evo and I nearly overtake in on the exit of the turn. I brake far to late for the Chicane (Turn 5) and I nearly go off, but instead I outbrake the Red Evo III and the White Evo RS and move up to 3rd. I notice that the Blue Evo IV has quite a big lead now heading towards the final Turn 6, hopefuly though the Green Evo VII will provide draft for me to speed up. I draft the Green Evo all the way to 153 Mph where I overtake it, but the main reason I caught up to the Evo IV was because I braked much later than him into Turn 1. This was the Second Lap of only a Two Lap Race, and even though I've caught up, I'm still around 1.5 Seconds behind the Evo IV. By Turn 3 I know that I've caught up, the Blue Evo looks closer, much closer than before. A brilliant line through Turn 3 puts me in drafting distance of the Evo IV on the straight before the Chicane, but it still pulls away from me, and I start to lose draft. But I outbrake the opponent Evo yet again to overtake him halfway through the Chicane and I start to sense a close finish. But around 200 Meters from the Finish, the Evo IV nips my Rear Bumper, putting my Evo out of control into the run off area. I end up losing by under half a second. I talk to the officials but they say he was allowed to do that to me. I win $1,000 which isn't as good as the winner who recived $2,000 but it's better than nothing.
