Well, I gotta say that I love both shots. I am also getting freaked out that you have a new cleaning method that makes cars look better. :scared:
It is very intimidating being up against you once again, you are famous around here for making superb shots.
If the shot you rejected looks that good, then I can't wait to see what the one you entered looks like.
Also, I loved your qualification entry, it really stood out in the poll. Looks sweet in B&W.

Can't forget your last update, the graphic presentation is very well done. Did you make the whole thing? And the shots are really artistic, you are a natural when it comes to art and design Mog, keep up the stunning work and I look forward to facing you in Round 1. 👍

Hehe, don't worry I haven't perfected that cleanup method yet. Thanks for all of the compliments, I'm looking forwards to facing you once again in the Tournament. Hopefully it will be a close battle again! :) I'm sure you'll come up with the goods. 👍

Well, that's good to hear. :sly:

Yeah, I hope it will be a good battle too like the last one. Thanks for the encouragement and good luck for Round 1. May the best shot win. :D 👍

Also, I would love to hear what you think of my DB9 shot in my gallery. :)

Prelude was a very nice car choice even we can see them on the street almost everyday
the amount of cleanup and blur work are simple perfect
your new clean up technique on the 350z looks really good
very much like 440 and bram heading at
but I would love to know the efficiency and limitation on your new technique :)

OMG. I'm pleased again to see so brutal work here. I should not say the the evident, but your last Z is purely awesome. The tarmac is ultrareal, I love the "textured shadow edge" and the lateral reflection the most. You bacame an unexpected definition in this shot.

The Plelude shot was a valiant entry. You bet hardly entering it in the comp.

Taking a look to your previuos shot, I have to say I love the artistic presentation of page 27. It's difficult to know where is every link, but you showed how you control so many different techniques. The overall quality... well, Mog style!

I'm looking forward to keep pleasing my senses.

Don`t know but the first one looks verry good to me. I think is the reflections. The second pic is is cool though. I think the cleanup method you did on the second picture kill alot of the reflections. but yeah it looks clean. its a nice pic.

Both shots would have been great. The 350Z has great reflections but the wheels aren't spinning (maybe you wanted to add willspin...). The prelude is just one very clean shot with a great blur. In the end it was the best choice to go with that one. 👍

I love the first shot a lot Moglet.

Thanks!

Thanks franz, I was unsure about using the Prelude for my qualification entry but it seems to have worked!

Thanks for your kind words alex, the tarmac took quite a long time to get right and I'm still not 100% pleased with it but it will be OK for now. 👍

The Prelude shot had no reflections on the car at all, it was taken out in the middle of nowhere at Tsukuba so no reflections were shown on the body. Hence the smooth look. Thanks for your feedback!

I knew straight away, the prelude was your entry. Im not sure why? A very worthy entry. It got my vote. 👍

Cheers Funkshen!

Cheers for your feedback! However I just need to clear one thing up for everyone;

The 350 shot was taken yesterday, the Prelude one was used for my qualification entry a few days back. It was the only candidate for it, the 350Z was rejected for the First round, not the qualifiers! A few people seem to have gotten confused about that...

As for the wheels, they're not meant to be spinning. The car is meant to be parked up on the road completely still, not moving. Hence the rough tarmic look. :)

First, I wanna say I loved your qualifying entry, that's why I voted for it.
I really like it's realism and purity, it's almost peaceful. Very well done indeed.

Now, that 350Z, that's really different, but I'm not feeling much of the bright white reflections (even the little ones), they seem more real in the preview. On the larger image they look like having a soft glow and are just too bright, imo. On the other hand, the grey reflections around the car are truly awesome, and are very real.
The lights are great too, especially the tone on the rear ones, as are the rims, with those tiny light spots (dodge?) that make them stand out.

Cool angle for that car, and mighty work on the tarmac. 👍
If it's not a secret (like the cleaning technique), post here or PM me. I'd really like to know what did you do to it to have it rough like that, it's brilliant.

Good luck for the rest of the tournament!

O_O

You did this when you were a beginner, wow.

Yeah, that was from one of my first ever sets. :)

Thanks for your feedback, I agree with you that the light reflections could be a bit too bright and glow too much. But I think it works well considering the tunnel setting, it was meant to be reflections of really bright spot lights.

The tarmac effect was gained by select everything except the car and the lines on the road (Make sure you have the shadows of the car as you want them before doing this) and applying about 4% noise, followed by Filter->Brush Strokes->Splatter set to a low amount and then a tad more noise.

Then I reselected the lines so the entire road was selected but not the car and increased the contrast. 👍

This is the first update for a while here, and since I haven't had time to come up with anything new I thought I'd post my tournament and contest entries for you to enjoy.

Nissan 350Z @ High Speed Ring

BMW M3 @ El Capitan

'Yellow Bird' Phototravel

Mercedes SL 65 AMG @ Nurburgring

This image is the biggest to ever feature in my gallery, please click it to view the full sized image!

So there we have it. I'm currently working on a proper update so keep your eyes peeled!

I just love the SL65 AMG in the last shot and the Nissan 350Z in the first shot, however think what your updates would be like if you had a PS3 with GTHD or GT5, or even an Xbox 360, with PGR4 soon and Forza Motorsport 2 soon.

Are you doing that on purpose because you know I can't afford a PS3 or 360? ;)

Thanks alex, but it'll be a long time before I get a new console. :(

Wow that sl65 is just extremly sexy! The road looks so great as well. How did you do the curve blur (if I might ask? :) ). Can't wait to see your tournament entry. 👍

Thanks for the comments guys, it really means a lot to me at the moment because I'm going through a period of feeling really depressed and upset about the slightest things.

It sounds stupid but I've managed to annoy my ex girlfriend tonight and get myself upset for not taking chances that could have lead to something wonderful. It's a self confidence thing and unfortunately it makes me really depressed whenever I try to have a good time with my friends and so knowing that people appreciate something about me means an awful lot.

I've never ever felt that I've been good at something in particular, especially when it comes to being confident in myself and my actions and it always comes back to bite me in the ass.

Thanks for all of your comments. 👍 It means more than you think!

Well Moglet, you know what they, or, I at least say:

"Some GTP a day keeps the doctor away!" 👍

I feel depressed too these days, you and others are the cause of that actually :grumpy:

All of you guys are becoming so good, I feel left out of the boat or something, it's like I cannot keep up with you guys. Those methods you have been developing are astonishing 👍

I was simply amazed by the Z shot at High Speed Ring 👍 It is ever so clean, there is nothing which could've been done better! 👍

The only thing I can say though is that the "vector-looking" factor in some of the shots, the M3 and SL65, is a little too high but I love the road in that SL65 shot! 👍

Keep it up Moglet!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go and sit in a corner crying...

Haha, thanks for the compliments, but you've been waaay better than me at cleaning and blurring since you started your newer gallery. How the hell do you do the dodging of the shaded areas?!

I know what you mean about the vector looking factor in some of the latest shots, I'm finding myself constantly cleaning up in that way and then realising the car no longer looks metallic. I think I need to practice my dodging and burning techniques a little bit more. The 350Z shot only came out so well due to the high contrast between the car paint and the bright shiny reflections!

Those entries are amazing Mog, really shows how talented you are. I love that 350Z, I was sad to see you out of the Tournament already. I wanted you to make it to the final. Guess there is always the next one. 👍

Sorry to hear that you have been depressed, I get like that sometimes.
You can't think that you are not good at anything though, you are going to be an awesome Graphic Designer, if that is what you want. You are always producing amazing work here, I always love you photography too. You are a natural artist my friend. Keep it up buddy. 👍

Thanks Drift, for the many compliments. 👍 Given + rep too.

About the feeling depressed thing, I'm sort of getting out of that now. It only affected me for about a week or so, nothing like I've had before when it went on for ages. Or at least it seems I'm doing OK now, last night I got really drunk and tried just having a dance with someone who I've liked for a while and was told she liked me. She danced for a bit and then literally ran off! Oh well, it was worth a try! I'm just sort of glad it didn't bother me as much as it used to. :)

Looks like you're getting better then. 👍

Just don't let alcohol be the escape for problems, it only adds to them and makes them worse. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the rep Mog, good to hear you are feeling better. 👍
You better listen to Beerzy about drinking away your sorrows, just look at his username. :D
