My Motorsport Photos - Update - 16th November Roger Clark historic rally

Harewood Hill last Saturday. Quite a good range of cars including a Ferrari class and the Caterham academy. My friend was in his 205 Gti in his first ever event. It was damp to start and he was a little bit nervous but it dried out quite quick after the first run.

The panarama is my first attempt. The corner with the close ups is just off to the right and the Elise is crossing the timing beam sideways.

Nice to see Harewood hillclimb again, i used to live about 10 minutes away. It's probably been 15 years since i last went, they certainly didn't have the the downhill section back then. Can you believe they have a race track running straight through the middle of a working farm yard!? I've never had the pleasure of competing there, but my dad and uncle used to compete there regularly - i even have a photo somewhere of my grandad entering the long lefthander after the farm yard in one of the first ever Lotus Cortinas - it was his company car at the time!

Got plenty of good memories (if a little cold and wind swept) of this place 👍

if a little cold and wind swept 👍

It can be a little bit on the bleak side at times. We usually get there as early as we can so you can park at the front row and see the whole track from inside the car if need be. I took the panarama shots from where we parked.

what is the demented looking yellow thing, it looks kinda like a really highly modded audi TT

I think it's a spaceframe CF 'silhouette' Audi TT with a 4.2 V8 driven by a guy called Simon Bainbridge.

Bang on. Mid mounted 4.2 Turbo V8. It sounds properly insane. He used to have an old school S2 coupe with loads of carbon bits on.

A friend took some videos so I'll try and get them and put them up somewhere.

I wonder if it's this unidentified Audi S2 Coupe i photographed at the Race Retro exhibition a month or so ago? - it certainly had a lot pf CF on it.

I've changed the name of the thread and will just keep this one going with updates of other motorsport events I go to. Next up will be Le Mans but in the meantime I went to the Jim Clark rally in the Scottish Borders last night.

The sun had now set and light was becoming an issue for the photos.

At this point I more or less gave up trying to take pictures of the cars and went to try and get some cool long exposure shots.

Just got back from Le Mans yesterday but was sooooooooooo tired (it took from 11am Monday until 4:30am Tuesday to drive back) so I'm only posting pics now.

Our camp (taken on the first day when the site was relatively quiet)

Some of the road cars you see there are super rare. We saw 3 Ultimas all weekend including a roadster.

Cosworth powered Mk1

I know most of you will already know it rained a bit.

It gets a bit interesting on the campsites

That's the buildup sorted, I'll get back on later with photos of the actual race.

Right then, here's the race pictures. It totally goes to show how difficult it is to get pictures of super fast gt cars once the light starts to go so some are a bit iffy but I like them. The weather was so bad once we got back out to see the race that I didn't really get any pictures of the finish and we ended up watching the end from the Tetre Rouge bar.

On the Audi stand in the village

Great shots, some really nice photos there - not noticed that you'd posted any up of Le Mans.

I've been meaning to look this up since i saw some of the race footage on Motors TV - does anyone know what the 3 small ights on the side of each car indicates?

I think it's one for first place, two for second and three for third place.(GT1,GT2, LMP1,LMP2)

I would love to go to the LeMans 24 hours someday, however I am looking to go to the LeMans Championship Silverstone round.

Can you post the full res of the Mini in the first shot? Excellent pictures. 👍

Harewood Hillclimb again yesterday for my friends second event. Less range of cars this time due to the British Hillclimb round being held this weekend but still some nice and interesting cars there.

My friend in his 205, probably trying a bit too hard as he fluffed a change going from 2nd to 3rd on his previous best and was gutted as it was up the long straight and probably cost him over a second.

Another rally, actually a few weeks ago but I've only got my photobucket account sorted in the last few days - image shack is pap.

This was a single venue event where they set up a course and then run it as a stage doing 3 laps. It means you get interesting passes as the slower stuff starts to run while the faster cars are still on stage - it can get quite close.

A rally at the Otterburn ranges in Northumberland (where Top Gear fired the Reliant Shuttle) today. Usual mix of stuff but it was also a round of a E30 325 championship.

I went to the Colin McRae stages rally yesterday in Scotland, it was a 4 hour or so drive to get there and we only got to see one stage but it was well worth it. The entrance fee was a donation to Colins favourite charities and everyone seemed to be tackling the stages in Colin style judging by the amount of previously rolled cars we saw.
