If you live in Australia and haven't been in a cave for the past week, you'll know that our nationwide lottery "OzLotto7" has reached a record $90million for tonight's draw. The questions I'm asking you guys (especially the Aussie's) is:

a) Have you got a ticket in tonight's draw and been a sheep like me trying for that one piece of luck.

b) If you did win, what would you be buying and spending it on??

I've got a few games in for tonight, and if I personally win I will be doing the Richard Branson thing and buy my own island. There's plenty of them (about 30) for sale just off Queensland's coast for between $850k and $8.5 million....a bargain compared to Necker Island's $250 million pricetag. ;)

So, are you in it to win it tonight??

I am in it, if I win I will be buying lots of vehicles and property (and sharing some of the weath).

100 million now isn't it?

Our family is in tonight.:D

We were actually discussing it on the way home what we'd do if we won it. There were things brought up such as pay off the house(boring) and go on a holiday. I said get a Go-Kart!:D:lol:

Getting near there thanks to all us sheep buying tickets. :D Baa baa baa!!

At the 7-11 that's 3 doors down from me, they had an inflatable OzLotto truck in one of the parking spaces....I thought that was pretty priceless.

I have a 15 game easy pick for myself and with work we have a system 8 & 9 and 2 normal games.

Well if I win the 90mil all to myself (this is the preferred option of course - I admit I am greedy)
Quit my job
I'd put money aside for my kids (maybe:)) and family members
Set up trust funds for nieces and nephews to buy a house and help them with study.
Renovate my house - of course I could just sell it but I have some ideas of what I'd like to do to it and would like to see the ideas come to fruition, plus I need somewhere to live whilst building my dream home.
Buy some sort of business that Jack can run - I don't believe in giving anyone a free ride.
Travel -loads of it, first class all the way.
And of course invest wisely so the money will last me forever.
Take Jack and a few other aussie GTPers to the next UKGTP meet.

If I have to share the winnings then I'll pretty much do the same as above but what I share amongst relatives would be reduced.

With me ? :)

1 system 11 ticket:D

I'd buy a big block of land put a biiiiigg shed on it, and build a race track and go and buy cars and tyres... lots of tyres

Then a block of units in the city and put one in each of the kids names for their future.
Property , more property and more property.

I'd put most of it away to buy a very subtle house in a really convenient location one day. I've long maintained that if I won a whole heap of money the only thing I'd buy lots of is cars, everything else about me (apart from the huge garage :sly:) would be subtle and modest.

I did get it, but then your following posts confused me.

So you got 5 numbers & both supps eh?? Decent payout for you then. 👍

Want to put up the numbers for us who were distracted with other things?? :embarrassed::)

*added bit* And I'm changing the title of the thread......it's $106 MILLION!!

*added bit #2* I found the #'s. I didn't win. :(

TWO lucky people have shared the biggest Tattslotto draw in Australian history.

Tattslotto said the two winners were from Queensland and South Australia.
I haven't checked my numbers yet so I am still in with a chance!

I was going to note the irony there, but…

Well we are talking about 106mil 53mil. I think I can wisely invest my money in first class travel.

Thanks mum. :D

But since you are concerned about me wasting my hard won cash I'll fly you over in cattle class.

Could even finance a Aussie GTP meet and invite a few notable foreign GTPers to come along expenses paid of course with free fairy bread and lamingtons for all.

Was assuming many billions. Since this is only $100 million, I think I can't afford many of the things that I put in the list above.

With $100 million ($50 million after tax) I could achieve the same comfort level that I would achieve with $100 billion. In otherwords, I'd spend ~the same amount on me (might have to forgo the island). Multiple houses in multiple climates - each one fully stocked and staffed would be no problem. I'm sure I'd also want a jet.

Instead of starting my own institutes, I might just become a substantial contributor to those that already exist. I'd create a number of endowments that were oriented toward spreading the principles that I think are important.

I'm also confident that I would adopt a few dozen children and have the appropriate staffing levels to accommodate them.

The Powerball lottery here in the States has gotten over $300 million more than a couple times.

If I suddenly came into a large sum of money, the first thing I would do is figure out how to manage it as any responsible wealthy person would do. Not necessarily invest it, not necessarily sit on it, but just learn what to do with a chunk of change like that. Where to put it and stuff like that.

After I figured that out I'd probably move out on my own, probably with a friend or two. Someplace humble, easily reached, easily cleaned, easily lived in, and with a huge garage. I've had fantasies of buying a large warehouse and building a house on the inside, similar to what Rob Dyrdek has done. Maybe on top of it. Maybe I'd buy this big lot up the hill from my house now that has been empty my entire life and build on that. It's got fantastic views of Dayton from up here on the hill. Plus, it would help make West Carrollton look less crappy, and I'd be able to roll up at the Hamburger Wagon in whatever crazy car I may have in that garage.

Cars. My Civic, for sure, and some others. I like the Suzuki SX4. And a Hyundai Genesis or Jaguar XF for highway jaunts and whatnot. Oh and a truck. A big one.

Behind that truck boats would be towed. Something reasonable, because calling up a Semi to tow my boat to the lake twice a year sounds like a huge pain in the ass. I wanna take it and my PWCs wherever, whenever. But of course I'd have to take boating classes first to get my license.

I think a pilot's license sounds nice too. One of my friends has always been interested, and since neither of us would ever have to work again we'd have plenty of time to take classes and get experience. Sounds very tough and demanding, but relaxing and rewarding.

That's a lot of toys, though. I've got a take-it-slow kind of personality, and in my free time I accomplish little to nothing. I don't see much of that changing, whether I'm filthy rich or not. My life right now is perfectly comfortable. The only thing I'd ask for at the moment is a girlfriend to keep me company every now and then and about $15 so I can take my broke-ass cousin to Fricker's right now. I really like Fricker's.

Danoff, ours is TAX FREE! :D So it's $53 million clear to each person.

The other winner is from QLD, all my side of the family lives there. I hope it was one of them. 💡

If it is, moochie moochie moochie.

Get a mail-order bride (or 4, you could afford it now!! :D) and build a Fricker's in your kitchen. I'd do that but swap Fricker's with the Pizza Hut dessert bar, have it permanently stocked up in my kitchen. Or a swimming pool full of their chocolate mousse and just drown in it.

If I won the lottery I would go to college just as a personal thing. After that an RV trip to every state in the US.

As far as I know it isn't. Why would it be?

That was the report. It was tax free. It's not a job, it's a lottery. ;) It's like saying you would be taxed everytime you went and won on the pokies. It doesn't happen.

*added bit #2* I found the #'s. I didn't win. :(

On the system 11 I got 2 numbers.
On a coupon with 6 games on it, the numbers were scattered across all the games.

No payout at all :( Igot 2 numbers in one game, 2 in another and so on.

It is tax free, no winnings from lotteries or horse racing, in Aus is taxed.

It could be that the ticket purchases are taxed instead of the prize. Thus why the prize, while being a record, is relatively small compared to some here in the States. But ours get heavily taxed, maybe up to 50% or so.

No, I did tax law recently. It's specifically listed in the legislation that any winnings from gambling are not taxable, unless that is your job (e.g. professional poker player).

I heard someone from Adelaide won...Jay?

Here in the states all gambling winnings are taxable.
Not all of them, they only tax the amounts where you have to go to the lottery office.

I think the guy that won the $232 million a couple months ago only walked away with $88million.

Yeah but $100 million is big money for us with a population of just over 20 million compared to the US with 250+ million.

Wouldn't you like to know :D

I never win anything

Maybe I'm thinking Gameshows then, which I'm 99% sure any winnings are taxable.

I don't know why gambling income shouldn't be taxed anyway.

Because it's just that....gambling, not a source of work. Look at the people who work 9-5 just to spend $10 per week on their lotto, you can't tax them because their 9-5 is their occupation. Yes you can make it your line of work but then you have to declare it if you put, "Professional Casino Player" as your occupation and then probably have to get an ABN and fill out ABS's every 3mths. ;)

Your winnings aren't taxable but any income earned from the winnings you invest is.

The half won by a South Australian was male so that counts me out, I haven't even checked my ticket. But I can still dream.
