Whether or not this deserves its own thread, I managed to fully leave the ground by running over the "distance blocks". I first did it inside the cock-pit and then again in the chase cam. I'm not sure what exactly this means for the physics, but it could be a sign of things to come (avoiding falling parts, blocks, tires, etc).

Check post 3 for video proof!

Again, sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I searched and haven't seen anything on these boards elated to the demo and totally leaving the ground.

Could be a good sign.👍

Good link, man! I hope it's not a bug. I think with damage and falling parts, that it may be a hint of some sort. And wouldn't it be cool to run over broken parts and have it alter the physics of the car? Neat-o!:sly:

Well its a bug in that it looks like the car pulled off an inspector gadget move... or is that speed racer!

But it will be neat! to see what happens then those blocks or tires get on the track and how they'll interact with a full pack of cars

I said before not really a bug. Having a impenetrable car hit a 1/2kg impenetrable box going under the car at 150mph will result in the car going in the air. It did land well to.

A bug would be when you hit the box and it goes through the wall.

These moveable objects could pose some interesting scenarios. Imagine running over a broken bumper on the last turn and losing because it lifts you up and ruins your race.

Yeah, but its not going to bounce up like that, all 4 wheels jumping off the road at the exact same moment.

In case anyone still remembers it: Lostus Esprit Turbo Challange 3 on the good old Amiga500: On a track called "Misty Soup" or something, very foggy anyways, you'd drive through a swamp area and jump over water pools by hitting hedges going across the road. The vertical jumping action and especially the "thump" noise at take off are basically identical . Maybe somebody at PD wanted to put a childhood memory footprint into the game, hilarious. The thing that has improved since the 80ties is the suspension travel at landing 👍

I think what's happened here has something to do with the physics cycle of the failbox thing.

Clearly it doesn't run at the same frequency as the physics for the car, or even the frequency of the visuals (it's more like 10Hz?). So, I think it's caught the front of the car when it was halfway through a cycle, so the hitbox hasn't registered anything when it made 'contact' with the front of the Nissan.

Then, once it's under the car, the failbox physics has decided it's time for another cycle to see what's going on. Then it's realised that it IS UNDER A CAR, and in typical failbox fashion, it's suddenly regained all it's impenetrable and absolutely solid status and pushed the strange Nissan-shaped object above it up so it has virtual room to exist for the next o.1 seconds.

Need I remind you of the jumps in GT4 and GT5:P and probably previous games of GT? 4 tyres off the ground is nothing really new.

If you notice the car never changes it pitch axis only the amount it would under baking. Perhaps the restricted roll over does this.

Yea, but this is due to an object in the road. In GT4, you had to slam against the wall on Test Course to get some air. In GT5, it may only take a tire, a bumper, etc.

Haha I remember that!
I think the stage was called pea soup.

You're right, "pea soup" was it!
And there was another stage where you would take off over tree logs , very realitic.... but hey, for it's time it was outstanding and beat any PC game by miles.....

Hopefully they have picked up on it. If not, it isn't going to cause any bother. This glitch isn't going to happen by accident, you have to almost certainly crash into something intentionally. I had a go and you have to hit it dead on to cause this. 9 times out of 10 it just knocked it out the way.

Looks like they've cut down the physics wrt to forces being applied to the car body except those being applied through the suspension, no big deal. It could be that the physics to deal with that is also part of damage/rollover.

It is likely part of the new physics that PD keeps talking about during the gaming shows. Because afterall, this is the first GT title in which there are moving objects on the track other than the cars themselves. NASCAR and WRC are likely going to be a circus act with all the falling parts.

But I'd hope that this is more of a seredipitous find than a mere glitch/bug.

At least the car dont touch the road, i think that is the first time i see that in a GT title, and i play since GT 1, i always want to roll the car.

BUT, i dont know if i want to see that in the final product, i mind, not in that way.

Sorry my english.

Hmm you might be right there. There is a possiblity it is just an incomplete physics build, with rollover and damage still to come they may have improved the collision physics to cater for the new features.

There were cones in GT3 and GT4 :P

Yes, I remember those now that you mention it. But I mostly remember the cones in GT4 during the coffee breaks.

I'm now more curious about the blockades that we saw in the TGS gameplay videos. Those too might pose a threat.

Edit: Here's the video of the blockades being thrown around. It looks like they definitely slow the car down upon contact. I like it :)

meh...I don't think the physics is too far off...I mean in action movies the cars always seem to get airborne, turn over, then burst into a ball of flames...

I'd say GT5:TT still quite hasn't got real enough physics...:-)

I wish the damn tires on turn one would scatter. WTF @ those tires. They can stop a car going 150+lol! Those things should scatter and get caught under your car. That's when GT5 will be epic.
