Anyone here drives the C Class?

The Merc is the standard choice of weapon for the Punterazzi.

It's very powerful and probably the quickest car in a straight line to be found in the game. The downsides are that it is a bit prone to oversteer and it doesn't brake as well as the BMWs, for instance.

The punters are not too worried about the braking issue as they simply use the car in front along with ABS to assist in this area!

So, should we run some sort of series in this game at some point? :)

I have noticed in the last while that quite a few more guys that I have met playing SCC have purchased SSV8NC so I think it would be possible to attract a decent number of clean drivers to an organised private lobby series and I would be all on for that.

Guys we could choose one night of the week, and do car series events.
Like one of us would choose the track, other one the car and do a 20 lapper in that course with that car and ,maybe after, a sprint wet race of 10 laps...it should be a way off getting to drive online some fine cars like the Caddie, the Maseratti and even the Jaag that usualy one doesn't pick because they aren't so competitive-except when driven by Vompatti:tup: - as the M5 or the AMG...just my two cents.

hi guys
b.r.o.t.d.a. and puntarazzi...don't know how you could create them but very funny and unfortunetly appropriate! about c class, yes it's not the best car in breaking situations but puntarazzi make use of our cars to stop their crazy running...anyway, merc could be the fastest car in 4-5 tracks (as i see in the online top 10 record laps), it's very powerfull and it has not so much oversteer as m5

Just a question, is an arcade game or simulation?

I seem to remember you from SCC right?👍

Well I would say it's an arcade racer if you have SCC or GT5P as a reference,no weight shifting, central axis physics...but with enjoyable features like tyre wear and evolving race line(drying out in wet conditions, more grip trought out the race in dry due to the rubber that tyre wear leave on the track...also great tracks and cars and a nice cockpit view with great shifter sound...very good AI in legend mode.
All and all a enjoyable title altought not deep enought to stick to it for several months like the sims refered above.👍

My opinion about ssv8nc: we have evolving conditions of tyres and grip during the race, from wet to dry race line, good sim of being in wake of someone (not only more speed but car's instability also), good enough sim of understeer if you brake too late and oversteer if you accelerate too early, and then the car will not die in the sand as in gt5 demo. But for me it's not a deep sim about vertical car's movement and weight shifting. There are cars' damages conditioning performances; great shifter sound as arvore said, and about graphics i don't think it's the most important thing to say if a game is sim or arcade, anyway good tracks details and lights effects on cars but not a full hd game (gt5p is cleaner even if skinny). Funny online racing in time attack mode and racing mode with a huge number of facultative options.
In the end, i think ssv8nc with the possibility to download other players' ghost-car and some new extra cars (may be unlocked offline) could be a durable game.

This sounds good. Maybe a specific day to dedicate for SSV8:NC racing would bring all of us into the track at the same time 👍 Races of pure GTP awesomeness!

Yeah,it would be great.Weekends are a bit messy and I know Wednesday's are yours DIRT2 day-hope to join you in that one too-so I suggest monday or tuesday nights...:)

Hi Derek. Yes i agree about the highly debious lines sum of the players have adopted. I find its more the tracks with run off areas, eg: imola, portima, tracks like kaylami, valancia has sand as run off areas they can't do that, then they slow.
Yes few very fast guys from SCC have got on this bandwagon.
I think it feels more like a arcade game, but possible a mixture of both sim and arcade. We should just remember that these cars are probably very stiffly setup in real life and possible that they have this much grip in real time.
See you soon guys i would like to enter the event if one is arranged.
AVORE i still need my revenge race with you.. My E90 waits.. lol...

Sure Chillie:) it's just so few people from GTP or other clean racer from my friends list playing it online...I am fed up with the online routine of public lobbys in this game:tdown:...like you said the elected tracks are always the ones where cheating is allowed and if you go to tracks like Vallelunga or Valencia where going wide off track doesn't pay off people won't join the lobby or quit during the race:grumpy:...so I was hoping that something went on here so I can play with people I know...the idea of a night of the week to SSV8NC pleases me we can do a private lobby choose one track and do two races 1st 20 laps dry,2nd 10 laps wet...👍

Hi Mr Avore.
Bro i know the people cutting the corners are just spoilt sports, every time i try make a time attack, 1. I wait forever 4 a player to join our, 2 the player who joins cheats. HOW UNCOOL. I only managed 2 lap times in time trail, kaylami and valancia.
I still have problems connecting with derik. But loads of others seem to be cool. Myself and Kev had no problem connecting i am happy about that.
We should just make a night and time and race. I will let my friends no i am sore we can easily fill up a grid with proper perbread racing drivers. it's almost our winter so my time gets closer to the europeans its only a hour but makes a difference.
Chat soon.. Any Night is cool.

Is anyone else finding that the game freezes every time you go into the 'car settings' menu? Then when I restart the PS3 and load up the game again I can access the car settings menu without it crashing - it only ever happens the first time you start the game. I'd be somewhat worried if this was only happening to me!

Hey Shaggy I think the first note on the"custom setups freezing bug" begins in page 16 of this thread and goes on for a couple of pages...most people got it at offline championship while using personal,or even preset, setups.
I found myself doing the Championship on default setups:tdown: and the freezing stopped.👍

Can't remember this happening my copy seemed to be ok. I could put in any setting that pleased. Did this only happen with the presets guys? Used all of them, they are perfect to.

I suggest monday or tuesday nights...:)

I'm with you on the monday&tuesday. For me, I think tuesday would be even better, but I think I could made it on monday too. Lately I haven't had time to play at all. But soon I'll be back to race with you guys 👍

So i got the game yesterday in the mail. Gonna play it after i finish up SBK. Any tips of how to play it or is it like SSV8?

I never played the original, but from what I can gather this one is basically a glorified patch of SSV8. Kind of like what SuperCar Challenge is to Ferrari Challenge.

That doesn't sound promising lol

Yeah, I mean when I sent you that message on PSN saying it was good, that was coming from someone who had never played the original. I think if you had the original and bought this expecting massive improvements you would be disappointed. Personally I'm happy. It cost me about 1/3 what it would normally and I enjoy the championship mode, and the online racing is very good. I think you'll still enjoy it for what it is. And you must participate in the Pentathlon, i'm sure you'll have enough games for it Appie 👍

It's next saturday!

Would you guys be up for some pratice(20 laps wet) on Portimão on Monday night, say like,22.00 pm GMT?👍:)

I'll try and join in. I REALLY need the practice as I've hardly spent any time with this game.

Hello guys! Like I posted before I'm planning in doing some pratice tonight at Portimão for the pentathlon race on Sunday(?) at 10.30 GMT+1 I will open a private lobby under the usual GTP password-L1,L1,L1,L1,L1,L1,L1,R1-so I hope that everybody who can will join.👍
No need to take part on the pentathlon to join us,anyfellow GTPeer,or other clean racers BTW,are very well welcomed:tup: I would just like to ask people to take more conservative lines (always two wheels on the track)since undoubtly those are the ones we are going to adopt in the refered event...so it wouldn't make much sense praticing racing lines that won't be allowed in that race:tup:

Thanks

EDIT:
Despite none of the pentathlonists was able to show up in the Portimão pratice I had a great racing night in this game again racing with the faster clean racers in this game: Dereck,David and Lassy(=vompatti) and did quite a few races(wet and dry),in the Portuguese track masterpiece, with several cars before we cruised into other tracks:tup:

It's a shame that everybody gave up on the game so soon because despite the lack of depth that it's arcadish style implies this game is very enjoyable in online mode, with the right crowd ,providing the best unneventfull and less risky close racing experience in a PS3 racing game.👍

Had lots of fun tonight :)
Thanks guys...

P.S: Lassy I still think that a driver with your racing skills MUST own SCC:dopey:

I guess you are going to call me Lassy instead of Lassi for the rest of my life? :D

I agree with you in both terms. Great, great racing even though there was only four of us and it's a shame that so many people have given up on this title already. This title really offers nice close racing, on some occasions we drove 3-4 corners with Derek side to side. I think this was one of the best racing nights I've had in SSV8NC.

I have to give special thanks to David, I think he is making me a faster racer! After I got the rust out of my wrists and was able to get my old pace back I had some great battles with David. But I wasn't simply fast enough and I started to try different things, changing my driving style etc. And I felt that I managed to increase my racing speed yesterday. In the last races I started to be able to challenge him. So either I got faster or he got more sleepy :)

PS. There might be something happening on the SCC factor... ;)

Yeah, we had a particularly close dice driving the RS4. It was kind of weird because for a lot of the time I just couldn't see Lassi's car at all despite looking back regularly. I knew he was there somewhere but without the sideways view that you can take with SCC I couldn't confirm exactly where.

The great thing was that, despite this, we kept up decent pace through several straights and corners instinctively knowing where the other car would be and leaving just enough room to ensure we didn't make contact once!
