What stupid Things have you done to your car?

I'm not old enough to drive, but my brother went 200+ Km/h in a Dodge Caravan! He also tried to drift on ice with all season tires in that 97 Caravan!

I don't know, there's too many to list.

90 mph trail-braking oversteer on a downhill canyon road.
128 mph while half-asleep.
hitting a deer.
Trying to chase racing cars in my family sedan. And suceeding, nearly.
Handbrake-parking at school in my first week of driving.

Shiver.

I saw this on my way to school today. shiver i did, sir.

also, my stupid thing:

trying to drift my parent's cars.

Mom's car is FWD, Dad's is 4WD. Dad's is a Porsche 911 Turbo '08. I took PSM off, and made a nice slide, but mucked up the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres he has, and nearly rolled my Mom's Acura 3.2 TL '00. got in on two wheels, counter-steered, got in on the other 2, kept doing that until it got on all 4s again. it was scary, and very comical.

Oh, Casey? I just noticed what was in the background of that shot with your Miata...I've been planning to go there myself one warm summer weekend...

Yeah, I lived not 5 minutes from there. I meant to stop in and get some photos, I thought a few people on here may have been interested, never happened though.

Yep, big mistake on my part. :dunce: This was one of the lower speed clovers in the area and I wasn't thinking about it, went in at roughly 60-65mph, got a bit the brakes and bam, full opposite lock nearly instantly. I was most certain I had taken out that reflector pole! I'm not sure what would've happened had I not tried to slow and just followed through with the turn, I think it would have plowed right off the road.

I bought some red dome lights to add to the color scheme of my dash and interior lights, although they look cool, i can't find anything at night with them on inside of the cabin. Loose change: Can't see it.
My phone on the passengers seat: Can't see it.
Opening my Cd case: No dice, can't see....
Red Dome lights = Epic Fail...(for me at least)

They are. They use 14mm studs instead of the typical 12mm on your average car.

In any case, I didn't say it was impossible, I've just never personally seen it happen. I just think something isn't correct with his story. A torque wrench doesn't use psi, so I assume he meant 20 ft lb over spec, which is hardly enough to break studs or shear lugnuts or even have difficult removing. Then, assuming they did "shear the lugnuts off", then how did they get the rest of them off and simply run down to the store and replace them?

I dunno, I just doubted his story, that's all. I didn't mean for this to become some big discussion.

Maybe I'm just weak.

Indeed. It's like Mecca for Monster Truck fans. I live...well, a state over, so I plan on heading down for their big Open House this year. Missed it the last two, but now I have a solid job.

In a parking maneuverer I hit the car behind me and a after the alarm went on its owner came out. I quickly left the scene.

What kind of race car, what kind of sedan, and what kind of road?

"Trying to chase racing cars in my family sedan. And succeeding, nearly."

Either:

a. you had a fast sedan

b. the racer's cars were slow

c. both

Bull****.

For one you don't sound mature enough to even be sitting in the Porsche while parked in the garage, let alone for your dad to let you take it out to be an idiot.

Two, you did not get a TL on two wheels multiple times in succession.

Picture of the Porsche with a piece of paper with your username and "Hello GTP!" on it officially requested.

And in particular, this post: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61433&page=63#post4561213

what do I get in return?

--ON TOPIC--

used tiptronic today in the TL... I payed more attention to the fact that it was ignoring that I had switched it to tippy than to my speed, nearly crashed, and got myself a ticket.

also, Eric, I don't need you breathing down my neck. I've already got Duke staring daggers at me for the same reason :grumpy:

Well played. Always a good idea to NOT screw with that at the expense of concentration on driving...

People not breathing down your neck because you lie incessantly. I reckon if it got to it, you'd wind up in a "pics or ban" situation. So don't let it get to that. ;)

Ditching the auto and swapping a 5 speed into my car. Seems like a stupid decision now, but it should be worth it when I'm finished...I hope

Smartest thing: Showing my son a wide open vacant parking lot (probably about a half-mile in each direction) in the middle of nowhere to practice his driving

Dumbest thing: allowing him to learn how to powerslide there in my RWD car (he's got an FF). I can still hear the tires screeching.

One more: when I was younger I took my friend's Honda Civic out on a mountain road to show him how to drive quickly and smoothly. I completely forgot about brake fade and nearly crashed through a guardrail over a cliff when the brakes became ineffective during a hard braking maneuver.

The dumbest thing I've ever done was when I drove the Ranger 20 miles down the freeway to go spotting. It was a very hot July day, and the truck was having transmission problems. On the way back, the truck stalled. Then when I got it going again, it refused to shift out of first gear. So I was stuck doing 25 mph down the feeder road. I finally just gave up and parked it in a church parking lot. My dad was extremely pissed to say the least. And the worst part was that I only saw like two good spots!:grumpy:

Luckily though, that experience led me to start driving the Tundra. So it kinda worked out to my advantage!:D

Cracked the rear bumper after reversing into a bright yellow concrete pillar - parked in the most badly conceived space in the world wedged between a wall and a Mondeo, was trying so hard not to hit the Mondeo that I momentarily forgot just how close the rear was to the pillar. Scratched the front bumper while slowly edging into a space in the same multi-story car park - didn't spot that there was a slightly-indented drainage gutter thing in front of me, front wheels basically fell into it, pushing the car forward that extra 2 inches required to hit the concrete wall I was going slowly so as not to hit in the first place.

Oh and final mistake, garaging it at home and expecting my mother to actually go out and start it once in a while. Got home in December and battery had been flat for 4 weeks, had to shell out £75 for a new one which will probably need replacing for the same reason once I return at easter. Super!

Of course if we're talking rental cars...
