Greetings! I am a new member, and new to the Gran Turismo 5 game (been playing about 3 weeks). I am working my way through winning each racing series in order to build my driving skills. Currently, I am working on the Amateur Series Tous France Championnat (Level 7).

I am using the Hommell Berlinette R/S Coupe '99 for this race, which I won in the World Compact Cup series. This is the first car that I have really had to tune, as its handling is poor in as-received condition. Right now, I have performed the following modifications to it:

Stage 1 weight reduction (reduces to 893kg)
Racing air filter
Sports Catalytic Converter
Fully customizable suspension kit
soft sport tires

The car is competitive: I consistently get 2nd place in this race, losing to another Hommell Berlinette. However, it still does not handle that well (oversteer in corner exit, bumpy on the straightaway, rear gets light under heavy braking), and I am sure there is a good combination of suspension and brake bias settings to make this car shine.

What have your experiences been with this car? What tune did you find makes the car neutral and stable? Any information is appreciated.

I've tuned this car to great success. I didn't write it down, and gave the car to a friend. I'll get it back long enough to post the tune.

Car is great when fully tuned.

I ended up trying my hand at tuning the Hommell and made some big improvements. It was enough for me to easily win the Tous France Championnat with this car (won by a HUGE margin). This tune is not perfect: it could use a little work. The car is still a little squirrelly on corner exit. Unzip the attached Excel file to see my settings.

If you find a better tuning combination, please share it!

Try this. This is with the car car fully modified/upgraded, including the aero kit from GT Auto.

Aero: -- / -15
Trans: 174 seemed to work well

LSD: 15/30/25

Ride Height: -20 / -20
Spring Rate: 6.3 / 7.4
Extension: 3 / 4
Compression: 3 / 4
Anti-Roll: 3 / 2

Camber: 1.7 / 1.0
Toe: 0.00 / 0.20

Brakes: 6 / 4

This car can win A LOT of races and you'll get every penny you put into back. It's a sleep car in the game, and is very close to a fully RM'd Lotus Elise. I saved a video of it smoking a Lambo Miura, a Mclaren F1 and others.

This helped me so much. After making the adjustments suggested, and changing my tires from soft comfort to soft sports, I've actually achieved first place in the Madrid course of Tous France Championnat with a 14.565 second gap between me and the second place car!

MiniVanMan, thanks for tuning; it's working out great. The Berlinette has gone from a car I absolutely hated to one that's really fun to drive. Still tough, but fun.
