This is SUCH a great idea guys! :) 👍

I would DEFINITELY want in on this! :D

Well guys, I will now be fully taking over the show. Joey says he won't be able to do it.

I would be more than willing to help and/or stand-in for Joey 👍
Without a problem! Sorry to hear that Joey has to pull off the show... But as they say, 'The show must go on'.. I hope everything is alright with Joey!

One obvious problem with this is the Rolling Start.
Other than that, This is as good as it can possibly get.👍

We seem to have once again come across a hurdle to slow us down. Thankfully, this one won't be as long and frustraiting. Lap will be posted this week. Onto the interview:

Episode 3 -CAMikaze

Our third guest on GTP's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is one of the resident otakus here on GTP and avid Sim racing fan. Please welcome, CAMikaze!

What brought you here to GTP? How long have you been a member?
I've been a member for over 5 years. It was my interes in Gran Turismo that brought me to this place back then. I was sort of passive in my activity at first, but started become more active in the last 3 - 3.5 years.

How has GT5 been for you?
So far, so good. I'm thinking there's more that this game can do and I hope future updates will bring it out, especially with online racing. It'll be neat if we can have a console simracing game that can compare with PC games like rFactor and GTR in terms of online league simracing. As for the cars, I hope some of the current Standard cars will get upgraded to Premim as well and more cars can get Race modification capability. I liked that feature back in GT2. :)

What has been your favourite vehicle to drive at the moment?
Probably the SuperGT ARTA Garaiya. It was a fun car to drive in GT4 and the new edition in GT5 is even more so with the addition of the interior of the cockpit.

How about tracks? anyone particular favorites you have?
It's great that Monza, Daytona and Indy made it into GT5. Fuji and Suzuka are good tracks to race on as well. I also enjoyed Grand Valley, Autumn Ring and Tokyo R246. The new Cape Ring facility got some good potential as a challenge for ones driving skills. I also like SSR5, but it has a starkly different atomsphere compared to GT4 when you drive it.

Have you played around with photomode at all? If so, how do you like it?
Not too much, though I have used it to create icons for my Home section and I have a couple of possible wallpaper photos from my use on my PC and/or PS3.

What is your favourite GT game and why?
Good Question. GT4 had the LAN playing capability and I enjoyed it being used in full force when I went to the SFGTP 3 event a few years ago. :)

Any other video games do you enjoy playing?
I've been pretty much a Gran Turisman since the PlayStation has been on the market and I would like to expand my simracing horizons sometime soon by getting a decent PC via purchase or building one that can play some of the PC simracing games. :)

Switching to real life, what do you drive? Is it in the game and if so, how does in compare?
Sadly, I don't have a drivers liscense. :(

Whats your favorite car and what is it about it that you like so much?
I like the GT-R in the Skyline GT-R34 and current GT-R models. I like the special Skyline GT-R34 Safety Car version a lot as well and I can imagine PD doing it again for the GT-R. Word of advice for driving the GT-R Vspec for the first time: best handle it with care when you first start driving it you could easily lose control when accellerating out of the turn.

Whats your other hobbies?
Besides GT, I also play a online browser game called BATracer. I enjoy competing in some of the carsets they have available like one that's based arond the ALMS, Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I'm also running the GTPlanet F1 BATracer series which is in it's 37th season.

Another interest I have is anime and I go to meetings of a couple of anime clubs that are in my area every month. I'm happy to meet up with people around where I live who share my love for anime and we can watch some titles together at the meetings.

I also like watching simracing events online from time to time and if there are people interested, I'll be happy to tell them about some of the events that are out there. :)

Anything else you'd like to say?
Not much except I hope I can meet up with people who enjoy racing and playing GT5 like I do both online and in person. :)

Lets hope that goes well and on that note, lets see your lap:

Lap: 1:31.256

Can't wait to see the lap, Props to RACECAR for another top notch interview. Good luck with your anime & Sim racing CAMikazi. I wonder if you have top of the leader board ;)

Here's a suggestion RACECAR, if you have all the screen stuff turned off and tell your interviewee not to save the replay, the lap time will be a real surprise. If you already do it 👍

Nice second episode, looking forward to seeing CAMikaze's lap 👍.

Can't wait to see Chris (Camikaze) do an awesome job! :D --- Randy

Thanks guys.:embarrassed:

The trick for me now is to unlock the Top Gear Track. I currently have a Silver in the SambaBus Challenge, a Bronze in the Elise 111R challenge(which should be the Expert challenge and not the Intermediate) and a Gold in the Kubelwagen(sp?) Challenge. I was thinking having a medal in each challenge would unlock the track, but either I'm not looking hard enough in the Practice section or I need to get at least a silver in the 111R challenge to unlock it. I only found out about this almost a week ago and before then I was concentrating on progressing in the game and doing some of the league races. I didn't think about the GTPlanet Star in a Reasonably Priced Car until Racecar told me about it.:dunce:

World Circuits? I did and I can't seem to find it. :(

I'm pretty sure you need to gold the SambaBus race. I was in your position when I silvered all three, and like magic, with a gold in Samba it just showed up. It'll be next to La Sarthe (No Chicane) in the World Circuits tab when you unlock it.

Pity theres no standing start but apart from that its awesome!

maybe an idea for the vids, Dubb some of Jeremy Clarksons commentary of laps in the real top gear over the top of the guests videos? would be pretty funny IMO :)

keep it up looking forward to seeing the next guest.

Right race, wrong place. it's between the Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 (no chicane) and 2005 tracks. Must be a regional thing? :D

GTP's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car

Original idea by Joey D

Welcome to GTP's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. This was an idea that was thought up back in 2007 and has progressed since then. It works much like Top Gear version but only with forum members instead of celebrities going on about their Prius. Each week there will be a lap done by a forum member and then a brief interview to get to know your fellow forum members a little better.

The car we will be using is the....

2005 Citroën C4 Coupe 2.0VTS in Rouge Lucifer
C4.png

The car was chosen based on it's connection to GTP, you only have to look at Jordan's avatar to see why. It's not a terrible car although I think it's rather understeery. Hopefully in the coming weeks and months we will see some seriously good times ran by our forum members.

Guests:
Guests will be chosen based on many criteria, more well known members will probably get first dibs, but leaders of WRS's, photomode comps, tuning garages are another focus I'd really like to have too.

You will have to willing to share some information about yourself, if you are uncomfortable doing so this probably isn't the best thing for you. If you are selected you can decline the interview and you will have no backlash from myself. Privacy is something I'd like to respect.

You may nominate forum member you feel should be interviewed and have a go in the car. Please send me a PM with their username, what they have done noteworthy, and a link to any relevant information. Please make sure it is noteworthy though, I don't want to be flooded with a bunch of nominations because someone gifted you a car. I'm looking for something forum wide.

How Does The Lap It Work:
Interviewees will need to run the car in Practice Mode under GT Life as it doesn't appear to be in Arcade mode. You must use a manual transmission, Comfort: Soft tires, Driving Line can be on or off (the track is kinda confusing), Traction Control set to off, Skid Recovery set to off, Active Steer set to off, ASM off, ABS set to 1, Brake Balance left at 5/5 and Grip Reduction set to Real. The interviewee may opt to do an oil change to the car prior to running the lap. Interviewees will need to run their lap in cockpit view as well. Drivers may use either a wheel or a controller, however your lap time will denote which one was used.

Corner cutting will be discouraged. If you are found to be cheating you will be put on the List of Shame, you will however be protected by the AUP. No personal attacks will be made against you, you'll just be black listed and your time will not count. Plus you'll probably get a rep as a cheater...no one wants that.

How to send replays:
You export the replay with your lap to the XMB, copy it to something Like a Flashdrive and then Compress and send the entire folder. The PS3 needs the entire folder to reconize it. Afterwards, send it to me via my email at camyronjackson@yahoo.com or if you have a cloud storage account (Like Mediafire or Skydrive), upload the replay to it and send me the link.

Cool idea there and well presented 👍 might be possible to find some old audio commentary by Clarkson suitable to fit each entrants video of the lap :) Lots of work more than likely but the end product would be epic haha

Very cool all the same and a great read guys, Cheers!

Just come back to this thread (rarely venture into the GT5 section). I'd like to point out, in the interests of fairness, that my lap was a "W" lap and not a "C" lap 👍

Thanks for the support, guys 👍 Our fourth guest has already got their lap done. Episode 4 be posted up Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.

Wow epic idea, hopefully some time in the future I might get a go to pit myself against the celebrities of gt planet and join the lap time board.

Really interesting about hearing about their lifes outside GTP.
