I just did the nur 4h endurance and it felt like the curbs are more slick than before the update.

f.e. usually i can cut the curbs at hedwigshöhe (it´s the right-left-right turn after hohe acht, before bruenchen) without losing grip. but now my car rotated when i hit the curb too much. it´s annoying, in real life the drivers have to take the second curb full to pass the corner quickly. i tried to take the first curb instead of the second one, but the car rotated even worse!

also, if you hit a wall sideways, even if you hit it only slightly, you will get kicked back like a flubber and the car will take a 180 turn. pd might have done that to prevent ds3-ppl from rubberband-grinding indy or so, but for me, i play with a wheel, it´s kinda annoying because in a long race like this i do make misstakes and now it costs triple the time when i touch a wall.

When touching the Gras it also feels like the car is more instable and turns faster than before the update.

mby all this is subjective, but i drove the sls over the nurburgring quite often and i know this car quite well. so i´d claim it´s not just subjective but fact.

please gimme some feedback if you ppl observed similar situations.

I did Vettel Challenge today and felt the kerns and the grass slipperier than normal. I think its from the update v1.06.

maybe the races/challenges have changed the grip reduction to "real" like in the online. maybe it was on normal

Yup the physics in general are different. I only play with a G25 and no aids and especially sports hard tires feel more slippery. Cars tend to rotate more easily and faster.

Steering feels different, and so does force feedback. Hard to put my finger on it but to me it feels more realistic. It's more difficult to keep the car stable at the limit, but to me that is a good thing. Only tested off-line so far, on-line physics used to be different, I wonder if off and on line are more similar now?

I'd formed this impression too... now Offline feels as realistic as Online, in my humble opinion this is a Good Thing.

Exactly what I'm experiencing. It got me quite pissed off at first but after a whole night testing the new patch, the FFB has indeed improved. I'm getting a better sense of the tires gripping the tarmac. At the same time, and perhaps because these two components are mutual, there's a noticeable improvement in weight shift.

is this some kind of inside joke?

4 or 5 Ferrari 458 Italia(s) have been "documented" to catch on fire when you drive them aggressively. I had read about it on the net, but the Jeremy and the guys talked about it on Top Gear last season also...

OP - i agree as well, physic's engine seems like it was certainly switched to "real" and to another poster I use the G27 and also feel the "difference" in the steering; a also agree it's "for the better." Cheers.

It's not just me who feels like there have been subtle changes to the physics then, I was starting to think I was imagining it as I haven't seen any threads till now commenting on this. There has been a brief mention in week 1 of WRS about improved laptimes post update but nothing specifically about handling.

I participated in a 15 lap race at Suzuka last night, it was the first try of the update for me.

I had a 2 hour practice session in the car we'd be using for the race on Wednesday and at the end of that 2 hours I actually bought a month trial of iRacing I was so fed up with the woolly feeling the car had, it just didn't feel right. The car was a fairlady (z34) '08 completely stock (Sports Hard tyres).

As soon as we went on track for a warm up last night the car felt different to me, the tyres seemed looser, but the car itself was more controllable, because I felt more connected via the FFB and better able to control the oversteer and the car in general at the limit of traction. Overall it felt a lot better than it had previously, despite perhaps feeling a little less grippy, particularly when the tyres were cold.

To me it seems like a real improvement, I will do some more testing tonight, as this was online only, I haven't tried offline but then I don't have a lot of interest in the offline portion of the game anymore, still, i'll be interested to see if it feels the same.

^^Ineresting as I only played offline and have the same sort of impression on the physics.

I let my mate borrow my G27, in 20 minutes i'm going to go and get it back to try it this new conspiracy about better FFB feeling and physics.

Grass and curbs being more slippery were specifically mentioned in the update notes iirc. Either that or in a PD note about the upcoming update. They did it in part to make cutting the track harder.
