My Final
23ubn2d.jpg

Probably horrible but my first attempt at photo.

Actually not bad but it´s not really sharp...

EDIT: And it´s too big, I guess.
EDIT 2: And there´s a linked full screen version missing :P

That actually a R10 TDi. Not the stealth one though. :P
And also, that Stealth R10 shoot is in daylight. Not dusk or dawn. Yeep, i agree, it look like dusk/dawn. Just look at my 908 entry, it seems like dusk too. ;)

You can do it too, take a pic. using cross-proccessing filter then edit it. 👍

And for the rules, i too agree that the best shoot are in dusk and dawn. Nevertheles i like the rules, i find it hard to take a shoot at daylight and night. So, that a challege for me and i think for someone too. The chance of we getting to the poll is higher. So does the chance of not getting into.

I think there´s slight confusion about which shot/car you and me were talking about :P whatever, as a matter of fact you can use an R10 as well as an R10 Stealth Car shot.

I agree that it´s difficult to judge if a certain shot applies to that specific rule. That´s another reason why I think that rule spoils the competition a bit. I really don´t see it as a challenge, because you can take at least every average shot and make it looking good with PS. And for me there´s not the shadow of a doubt that the 2.0 comps and PS comps are way more challenging than PMC ones.

Speaking of challenges: I have challenged myself trying to win a poll of a 2.0 comp with an unedited pic :P Almost managed it at week 6...

As awesome as that shot is, that deserves a +1.

I know. I watched his gallery yesterday and was quite impressed by his shots. I was just making fun of the way he wanted to compete here :)

In my view it is easy to get a dawn or dusk shot, which doesn't help the community much. Seeing how it is less skillful, while allowing people to gain less experience.

As well as that, most races happen during the day. With most the action in endurance races being in the day or night, which adds a bit of realism to the contest.

My final thoughts:

If dawn or dusk shots kept winning in any contest, then the hall of fame would get a bit boring and bland. While not a variety of shots.

@ ceiling_fan: Trying to make a shot look like a dawn or dusk shot, would break the no dawk or dusk rule.

@ skylinefx: I like your night entry.

First of all: I know that you stand behind the idea your theme, you´ve chosen it, and I absolutely respect your opinion about all that. I already mentioned that I´ve just been waiting for such a theme. I agree with you in certain points but I think that the transition into the night and the night itself are the most exciting things that an endurance race provides. The view for the driver gets worse and worse whilst the atmosphere is growing with every hour the sun goes a little further to the horizon.

Given that, the most exciting part for me at the 24h of Le Mans is the racing in the evening and at night which is exactly what we should see here. That´s why I think dusk or dawn shots should have been allowed. I also assume you didn´t think about this weeks comp having a H2H poll and you were forced to add this specific rule, didn´t you?

Also, I agree with you in having variety. I don´t want dusk/dawn shots only as well as you. But the transition mentioned above being part of Le Mans, there should have been such pics in this comp. This theme just fits perfectly for it.

Anyway, it is like it is and we´ve seen great shots so far, keep it up 👍

@TVR&Ferrari_Fan: Does my entry fit within the rules or should I change it? If it doen't that's fair, I'll change ASAP. :)

I think the tones are giving the shot a dusk look, which goes against the special rule.

What about mine?
I hope my entry is within the rules. :nervous:
The angle doesn't give me a good view of the time of day, because the headlights are not on. While the lighting and tone have a dark mood.

While I reckon the new one is better, I loved your first entry. It looked like a long exposure shot (don't know if that wheel thing would go that fast), and the wheel was amazing.

But agree, this one is more safe. ;)

I will be drawing up my shortlist now, which means one thing:

*No more entries after this post will be accepted.

----

Update:

I am still working on the shortlist, because I am putting each of my selected shots through a knockout stage. So I can make sure, good shots only make it through.

But for a good shot to make it through, it must use good composition. Along with acceptable lighting.

Good luck to all entrants, would've entered. But I wasn't satisfied with what I managed. ;)

Do you lot think Terronium-12's shot looks like a dawn or dusk shot, because his original shot has a blue tinted windscreen. However when I tried to re-create his shot, my first test resulted in a gold tinted windscreen.

About the special rule:

I must remind everyone, that any shot that has been made to look like a dawn or dusk shot won't make it into the poll.

Fair enough if my shot doesn't make the final cut. I'll just be sure to not blur the lines so much next time; I did get a bit carried away with the editing.
