Hey, quick suggestion. How about we split the laptimes into classes, sorted by their drivetrain so that it'll hopefully stop people just using Evo's and Impreza's.

It probably should. Although itt just happens that the Evos and Imprezas are cheap and have bunches of horsepower to start. I'm hoping to crack 1:20 in my FR mystery car though. I already managed a 1:20.7. I'm determined to find something non-AWD to wage war against those Evos and Imprezas! Besides a Beetle Cup Car, I suppose. Hah.

That Beetle Cup Car is like a curveball for this challenge

Well the beetle did have racing tires on, if it had sports tires on, it wouldn't have made the top 5.

As for non awd cars the s15 '99 and the skyline gts-t '91 are both capable of atleast 1:20.xxx

Does an engine rebuild count towards the price?

yea, you can change the car and tune if you want to, and if I were you, I'd try to be creative and not choose an Evo or a Scoobie, since the leaderboard is flooded with these rather vulgar ricers. *gets flamed and spat at for insulting the Evo and STI*

That's part of the challenge, isn't it. What tyres are standard on the car when you buy it. Obviously it does matter as the tyres take up a huge amount of your budget if you buy them.

Indeed they probably are.

What about on the next challenge tires cost doesn't count for the limit and all participants use Sport Hard? That will diminish the advantage of some cars and will add variety in results.

I am determined to set another top 5 (hopefully winning) time with an obscure car. As much as I love Evos and STIs, I hate how all the leaders are using such similar cars. Hopefully I'll be back in the next few days if I have time to play GT5. Good luck to everyone else.

Good luck, but try not to use race cars eh? It's kinda cheating since you have 15k of extra grip and tyres from the start.

Well its in the rules,if its under 25k you can use it.

If I see another race car under 25k, im using it for sure haha. I'd be lucky to do that though.

I don't think there are that many left though…

Haha yeah i know. I'll be looking. I wouldn't be surprised if there arent anymore race cars under 25k left!

Is it still set at 3 chances?

How did your GPX go? I have one in the garage but obviously it was bought before this started so that invalidates that...however I found a FTO GP Version R and got a time that will only put me in 6th, but I'm not putting that forward

The GPX was a dismal failure, it could barely crack the top 10 with me driving, even with the setups. But I do have one more chance, and hopefully this will put me back in the lead. It only cost me 8,444 cr, it's not a Kei car, it's the original hot hatchback. With a new set of shoes. Take a guess what it is.

To anyone intrested in trying for a win the lancer '01 is even faster than the '99 I'm in the lead with :-) fairly certain I can put in a 1:17.9xx with it and my dfgt

Does a wheel really make that much difference? And I'll keep that in mind, hopefully I'll come across one sooner or later, don't want to part with my Diablo now…

I see myself as decent with both a wheel anf a ds3 (have to use my ds3 when my fiance is at home so I get abfew hours in with it) and I am just about .4xx faster with a wheel around tgtt (with the lancer '99)

So even with a DS3, you're quicker than most of the drivers here (most because I would have beaten you with my unpublished time of 1:18.709)…I see what they mean now by the phrase 'If you want to win, get a Fin'.

Edit-The Drivetrain leaderboard is now up, hopefully this will get people out of their Evos and 4WD cars and to get some more interesting cars, like that beetle.
