Further explanation of the theme, which is provided by Jason~Bourne:

Inspired by his family's current vacation plans, Matt Damon, er, Jason~Bourne would
like to see some Euro-centric images this week. Cars must be European, and the locations
they reside in must be too. This opens up Photo Travel, rally, race tracks, city circuits...
basically, you've got (nearly) carte blanche for some creativity this week!

CARS: European makes only
LOCATIONS: European locations only
PHOTO TRAVEL: Yes
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: All cars in image must be European

  • It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
  • Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!

  • No full-size images posted in thread; your entry will be ignored.
[*]One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
[*]Do not ask other users to pick your entry.
[*]Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
[*]You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
[*]When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
[*]Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
[*]A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
[*]Do not post additional "also-rans" - just your entry will do!
[*]Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 20. Every fourth
week, the poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", and the best from each
poll faces off in a final 48 hour poll.
[*]Winners cannot enter in their own theme!

What you may not do to a photo:
  • Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game.
  • Add shapes or objects from outside of GT5, signatures excepted.
  • Add lens flares or "artistic" filters to image.
  • Remove items from shot (scenery, other cars).
  • Use more than 1 image (HDR, photo-stitching, multi-exposure).
  • "Creative cropping". The main "image" must be four-sided, with 90-degree, upright corners.
  • Selective car colour changing: masking different parts to create racing stripes or similar.

What you may do to a photo:
  • Crop and/or resize an image.
  • Adjust the level or curve values.
  • Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
  • Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
  • Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
  • Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
  • Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
  • Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
  • Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
  • Scale or enlarge rims.
  • Remove or modify license plates.
  • Remove the GT watermark.
  • Add a personal signature.
  • Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
  • Add a vignette effect.

Competition News:

You'll notice another bullet added to the Do-Not List: even though it has been clarified before, lens flares officially get their own bullet point. Artistic filters too - while I'm sure everyone tries out Mosaic or others of its kind their first time in Photoshop, this is meant to still be about photography ;).

Also, the Week 25 polls will be the last ones at the current poll size. After that... it gets a bit trickier :D

Your gallery is full of exciting, bright and eye catching images but I see where Gtuned is coming from here, a lot of your contest entries are similar in style. That's not necessarily a bad thing, of course.

Everyone has there own style, even you Moglet. But of late, I have only entered my best shots.

----

My thoughts on styles:

Everyone has there own style, but if the shot lacks composition. Then the shot, should be thrown in the bin.

Along with finding a style, that doesn't kill composition.

Comparing photomode styles with real life photography:

Any shot with bad composition, cannot be classed as a good shot. Even if it was shot with the best lens on the market, then again you can always produce a good shot with a basic lens and camera body.

Because it isn't what the camera and lens are like, but who is behind the camera.

My main concern entering a shot like that, personally, is it could literally be any tarmac track in the game.

You're right, the equipment is just a tool for the photographer. But I have literally no idea how this relates to anything anybody has been talking about in this thread.....

Well said!
Your style is sound and very visually appealing. Keep up the great work!
(Like they say - if it ain't broke, don't fix it...)

Heck, in real life, some pictures I took with a little Nikon Coolpix camera were more interesting and captivating than those taken with my Olympus dLSR.

Beyond that, I firmly believe that when it comes to photography there's a powerful creative tool that exists within the limits of a "lesser" camera - can you use the limits of your tool to make something more special?

It's why I haven't delved into photo-editing of the pictures I take in GT5. If it's a bad picture "un-edited", how good is it really gonna be after it's been "edited"?

Peace...

Final Entry

I believe the RedBull Hanger 7 is in Australia, and is therefore not European.

EDIT: It seems I mis-spelled Austria. You're good.
