There's nothing in the rules against the use of Hue/Saturation or Selective Colour though, so where do you draw the line there? Technically the warm, cool cross-processing, partial colour and sepia filters in-game change the colour of background also.

I'd say treat the scenery like you did with the cars; Changing the colour/luminosity of scenery is fine (otherwise we'd have to ban all forms of colour enhancing and brightness/contrast tools), adding elements (like, say, leaves and such on the road) to scenery, not fine.

But if it's deemed illegal I can change my entry if needed. :D

My thoughts too. You can easily change the color/ luminosity/ and other layers and use layer masks, no? Should be easy to make it look like a sunset without using a second image or do anything that break the rules. I would say it is acceptable IMO. Use the base image and add a curves or levels layer to darken the image and mask off what you want to stay its natural tone from GT5. And create a 3rd layer to change color tone and maybe make that layer only partially visible to make it look a bit more natural and mask off what you want to keep from the original photograph. All done with one photo and all follow within the guidelines as I read them.

This is true, there is actually a lot you can do with layers and blend modes - which appear to be within the rules.

What you may do to a photo:

Adjust the level or curve values.
Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
...
Make use of Layer Blend Modes.

Although I have to admit that adjusting the image to look like a night photo from a day time photo and illuminating the fountain as though it had coloured lights in it, is probably pushing the boundaries a little too far. You could argue that it falls into the adding objects scenario.

My thoughts anyway.

Changing the colour tone of an image is perfectly acceptable, so while Hue/Saturation or Selective Colour (or similar, full-image colour modifying parameters) aren't specifically listed, they're legal by the wording of the OP.

It's the question of the mutli-lit fountain, really. By GP's suggestion of "treating scenery like the cars", it has to be deemed too far of an editing job; we can't use a bunch of masks to make our own custom liveries on cars, making selectively recolouring the fountain pretty much the same thing, only on a background object. Recolouring an image to go from say, mid-day to sunset, is fairly straight-forward, and entirely possible within the context of the rules, however. The tripping point being you can't literally recreate the sunset itself... just the lighting.

Glad to see the discussion going, wanted to hear from the group since the majority of these rules have actually been in place since before GT5's release, and while the vast majority suit our needs, some fine-tuning is never a bad thing 👍

My Signature isn´t done yet but I really want to post my entry for this week. I think I´m gonna use my 'one change' chance to post the pic with my sig later... Anyway, this is my
