Love racing. But cant really commit to a place atm. Maybe pencil me in as a reserve - if im on i will race.
If not taking reserves - i understand.

I can help out with gifting cars if i have a free slot.

Happy to have you penciled in... Committing being difficult is completely understandable. I know exactly how it is. If it comes to it I'll put you in a reserve spot... but that may not be necessary!

Only be in Division Y(i think). Will check my lotus paints and pick a genuine colour later.
My neigbour had i of these in real life years ago. They are abit scary when your a passenger...lol.

haha! I can only imagine being a passenger in real life! Yikes! It's rather scary with me driving it in the game - haha! Expect many poofs of smoke behind my Elan! I tend to slide sideways when I get a bit daring & forget about having my elderly great aunt in the car. ;)

I´m in for Division Y, maybe also Division Z, but Sundays always seem so unpredictable over here. I´ll let you know as soon as possible

GTP: ID_racing / PSN: ID_racing / Matt Black

For now I'm in for both days. Got nothing on my schedule next weekend and the Civic race was fun. Color has to be picked, but thinking about the lime green metallic again ;).

I will try to get a total newbie to come to here to, he just bought GT5 yesterday :).
And I think I have 2 or 3 Elan's, for those that haven't gotten one yet.

I do like to have some tuning tips about this one, for that little push in the right direction.

We're cool with total newbies - send 'em on over! The more the merrier!

I'm still working on my set-up... still hoping to find some magic numbers. haha.

If at any point I'm in my lounge, anyone's welcome to join as I'll likely be working on the Elan.
As well as trying to get some numbers on lap times to set the laps for the races. I haven't tried the car on Cape Ring Inside yet at all, as that only made the top 3 with the last polling I received.

Oddly, in the PMs, the Sunday option was more popular. haha. It always works that way. I also usually manage to schedule during religious service times for people. But I think with all of us in different time zones... At any given time, somewhere in the world, someone is eating dinner, someone is working, someone is sleeping, and someone is in religious service. I guess it's unavoidable. But rather interesting to think about, as in Europe people are sleeping right now, in California it's dinner time, and in Australia it's lunch time. The mind boggles. :boggled:

I don't think I have seen Lotus French Blue. I know my car was originally a bright light blue. I'm hoping someone will keep their Elan the standard colour of Bahama Yellow, as it's quite nice. It's featured in the photomode I have posted in the OP... but it's not loading right now because my web site is timing out at the moment for some reason.

Division z for me.

A man of few words, as usual. ;)
But I'm hoping you'll share some tuning tips, CC!!! haha.
Because I know you've been tinkering with this car for awhile now! You're ahead of us all, I suspect!

Thus far I have found that if I use suspension to really pin down some stability, then I get this awful understeer problem that I can't cope. But then if I use the LSD settings higher, the car becomes very unforgiving about throttle & steering at the same time, which tends to be a problem for me.
One thing I have found is that the ride height weirdness seems to apply to the Elan as well. By tilting the ride height, higher in the back & lower in the front, I tend to smoke the tires a bit less on Cape Ring North & Deep Forest!! But too much tilt, and the understeer is just ridiculous... and could be a disaster to have that kind of understeer on Rome Reverse, (at least for me).

I think the car comes in these original colors:

Burnt Sand
British Racing Green
French Blue
Royal Blue
Cirrus White
Carnival Red
Lotus Yellow
Bahama Yellow

If anyone has other colors, I´d like to know! :)

My standard tuning setup gave me once again a horrible oversteer, when I set out for a couple of testruns at the Cape ring. Seems like something weird has been going on with the latest GT5 patches in regards to my online tunes. I tried the ride height quick fix, but it didnt really solve the problem, so I think I need to tune the car from scratch. :ill: My best laptimes at the Ring was 1.08.2xxx, but I can see at least 1.07.9´s with better balance.

@ ID_Racing: You're a fountain of paint chip knowledge!! :D
I do like that Bahama Yellow. But decided to use my Kenya Orange paint chip, because I'd suspected it would look quite nice on the Elan, and I was right. :D
(I wonder if anyone will go with British Racing Green. ;))
And thank you thank you again for the matte pink paint chip! :D I collect all the pink paint chips.

I only did the tracks to get ballpark ideas for setting the laps for each race. And of course, to work on my tuning set-up.
But thus far my best times are (without any real practice):

Cape Ring Inside: 1:09.x
Rome Reverse: 1:35.x
Deep Forest: 1:41.x

As usual, I think Cape Ring Inside will be my worst track.
I think I could do much better on Rome Reverse, with a bit more practice.
Deep Forest I may be going wrong somewhere. In just practice tuning laps, I almost went into the pit by mistake! So I'm wary about taking that last turn aggressively. lol

Welcome the tiger!

British Racing Green (I think).

Always a good choice. ;) I was hoping someone would choose it. haha.
I believe the car in the OP photomode pic is British Racing Green, that the car actually comes in that colour. It's quite spiffy.
And I have heard that cars in British Racing Green go faster. LOL ;) ;)

Look forward to seeing you on the track... It's been awhile!
(Hope too that you make it for Low HP League RoC... that Toscana track is something else! haha.)

Hey guys, I can do saturday division y. possibly sunday division z. not sure on what color yet, I have to check my garage tonight.

Added Dan!
The colours it comes in are quite nice. Here's hoping CC570 keeps the Bahama Yellow. :D

20110725elan01s.jpg

wat3rm370n (kenya orange), cc570 (bahama yellow)

And after some laps, I got down to 1:34.4 @ Rome Reverse. Maybe can find a little more there somewhere.

Will try to make the Saturday division, but mid-day on a weekend is difficult for me. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

Color: Carnival Red (but I assure you, the fact that I am using red again is purely coincidental)

Hope to see you on the track IMZIZ!

As usual, it's difficult to schedule for both US PDT & BST/CET time zones. *sigh*
It's midday for you... but quite late for ID_Racing.
Last time for the Saturday Spitfire race, I rescheduled my dinner time, and 2 racers were getting sleepy. It's one thing or another.

As for the red... ahem. I won't comment because according to ID_Racing, it's a colour the car comes in... Though I haven't seen it in that colour yet!
I've only purchased 2 so far. I think I saw more Bahama Yellow Elans in the UCD - but I passed on them because they were super-high mileage - and I already have that trophy. haha.

Watermelon, you can win the Lotus in the professional series, british lightweight b-spec race. Might get lucky colourwise..:)

whoo-hoo sofa driver! ;) glad you could make it jack, as always! :D

Thanks for reminding me of this!! I'd totally forgotten, because I won my aspec british lightweight with some prize car I had, and the my bobs couldn't make better than bronze with it. Can't remember what car... but it looks like a job for the Elise I bought to do the seasonal.

If you still have room for another vintage racer, I would like to join the Lotus Elan Championship as well

Please sign me up for Division Y (Saturday):

Usernames: GTsail290/gtsail290/WR Blue Mica

I might have time for the second division as well, but this is only tentative.

..... I think I saw more Bahama Yellow Elans in the UCD - but I passed on them because they were super-high mileage

Thanks for leaving it there watermelonpunch, because its the Lotus Elan that I picked up! It has 199k miles, so I'm sure to be at the back of the pack with such a worn engine!

Respectfully,
GTsail

Hi, I could totally do this on Saturday and if I feel the need for revenge I could probably do Sunday too. So please sign me up for Saturday, and leave Sunday open for now.

cobrius / cobrius / matte light blue

Welcome aboard gtsail290 & cobrius! :D

btw: I'm putting the maybes in brown, as you can see.

Yeah, I like having 2 divisions so I can sort of see it as a grudge match!
haha - j/k There's no saying I'm going to do better the 2nd time 'round. lol
I keep hoping with more experience/practice, I'll do better, but it doesn't always work out that way.

 I saw yet another Bahama Yellow Elan with high mileage.
But when I say high mileage... Well the one I'm using for the race is over 50,000 miles I think. But the ones I have been passing on have had over 300,000 miles!!
I think I only ever bought one car with over 300,000 miles on it... and that was the Nissan PAO because I wanted the Terracotta paint chip.

Hey, watermelonpunch -

Looks like I won't be able to make it on Saturday after all. I've been called upon for parental duties at the time.

Birthday party season amongst small children seems to be in full effect... guess a lot of parents were trying to keep warm through the winter months. ;)

Sorry you can't make it IMZIZ... I do believe in the US, statistics say more people are born between late June & early October, than any other time of year. I suppose the holidays are romantic? Starting with Halloween? LOL :sly:

All I know is that we're entering peak watermelon sweetness season here. :D

Perhaps you can make it next time. Thinking about having another next weekend actually, if anyone's interested.
