Need an instructor for drifting please?

Hey, I'm not completely new to drifting in GT5, but I'm struggling to be able to really get whole "finesse" part of it. I feel like I'm very sloppy with the angle. While in a corner, I feel like my angle is changing a lot. Making the drift look like, well, crap. Does anyone think they can get online with me and teach me something?
I have a mic.
I use a controller.
My car is the Genki Hyper Silvia RS2 '04
Manual Transmission
Tires are Comfort Soft.

If you used Comfort Hard you'd have a much more steady/larger angle as oppose to softs and you might not need an instructor.

This. Forget the other tires until you can learn on these. They can teach you so much in the areas of throttle control and steering. The CS have inconsistent grip levels depending on the part of the drift and tire temp, but CH are consistently crap, so it makes it better for learning how to drive with no grip whatsoever. I have a few cars that can run as fast on CH as some other racers on SS after being tuned, so it helps there in tuning too. Plus it's fun to run with another car then go back to the lobby and see that they had to use sports tires to do the same thing you just did on CH.

Thanks guys, sorry Mi_Drift, I had to do alot of homework. So I couldn't be on all that much. Not sure why you kept getting disconnected though. But, those comfort hards are working out marvelously!
 
You might also want to watch drift bible, pretty sick guide for drifting by the Keiichi "Drift King" Tsuchiya himself. There's some useful techniques in the bible. Good Luck!

Maybe for real life drifting, it wont help him with anything pretty much on the game.
 
To be honest the drift bible is quite pants because it just explains confusing techniques you would never use like shift lock and brake drifting. IMO

Dynamic Drifting? I am sure that brake drifting is possible in game but we haven't found it out.
 
I always thought that you used the brakes to shifted the weight towards the back as you turn in.
 
Oh right, so using downshifting in combination with braking to get the rear end out, I think I do it every now and then if I notice :lol:
 
I'm probably going to test out some of these techniques next time I'm on the Tsukba (lol, don't know how to spell it)
 
Go to my drift garage and read the tips section. Also comfort soft is prob too much grip causing your car to catch control too soon and not make the full corner as smoothly. I suggest comfort hard. You may also want to change your car, I no that car is good however others cars are easier to understand at first how to control than use what you learned with them and try it on harder cars.

What you wrote there has already been suggested in the thread, stop advertising your drift garage.
 
You might not need instruction as much as just practice. I had to relearn because I hadn't drifted with GT games since GT4 then I had a layoff until GT5. What I'll suggest is try 4wd drift to get used to the feeling of Drifting. The way I got all the mechanics down was I was using 4wd then by accident I switched to RWD without realizing it, so I hit the track and noticed everything felt off but I was drifting, then I go check and I was in my PT86 rather than the Impreza, and it's been gravy since!
 
I still suck at drifting but can hold a decent drift now and again -- VERY inconsistent though. Would you recommend I go to the AWD to get it down and come back to RWD?

Doing that would be like breaking both your legs to learn how to walk with crutches then learning how to walk normally. Don't do it.
 
If you have one, awesome. But try to use/get ahold of a Toms Chaser X540. IMO it's one of the smoother vehicles in drifting, I use it with like 500ish HP. Don't put weight reductions on it... ViP drift bish!

Someone else has said this, but practice makes perfect. And the more you drift the more people you will meet at your own skill level. Then it's just sideways after that.
