Quality setups for real racers - no driving aids, Grand Prix / Career mode setups only.

Why?
- Because I can. Oh and because there's a chronical lack of setup directories for F1 2010 / 2011 / 2012 on GTP. T-12 keeps posting setups but that's pretty much it. My gearbox settings might often be subject to improvement since I'm adapting it to my own style. Yet, the F1 2010 setups (and only those, the F1 2011 ones are all made from scratch) aren't all mine - yet, I honestly can't remember which ones were taken from the interwebz and which ones I did from scratch. They've also been my first steps with creating / modifying setups but these posts should merely serve as a collection for those who are still in need of setups for F1 2010.

What for?
- To share the setups that I made and help others out...hopefully. All setups are meant to be used in Grand Prix or Career mode and won't work well in Time Trial. Yet, they work for both qualifying and race. Please keep in mind that the increased fuel load during the race will change the handling quite a bit, which is only natural. Braking a bit earlier should do in most cases and only be necessary for the first few laps.

Your setup doesn't work for me.
- Tough luck. It's working for me but you can try playing around with it and you might be able to adapt it to your style.I'm not using 11/11 springs since I'm still pretty certain that their massive grip improvement is merely a glitch which will be fixed in the end, thus making the setup useless. All posts contain setups for both version 1.01 and 1.02 (soon, at least) since they might differ quite a lot. Please use the one appropriate for your game version.

Your setup is causing my tyres to degrade quickly.
- Working as intended. Those setups will eat into your tyres in order to enable you to run faster laps during the race. It's crucial to drive extremely precise and get the time needed out of every lap with good tyres. I can, for example, pit 4 times and still win against "Legend" AI, which pitted 2 times, since I'm about 1-3 seconds a lap faster (Nürburgring used as an example). The 2012 setups should be easier on the tyres, on a side-note.

Y U NO POST MPH FOR GEARBOX!?
- I'm living in France, we use proper measuring units. You can simply change the units to KPH, change the gearbox settings and change the units back to MPH - it's available in the OSD options.

What do the icons mean?
- Well, so the sun does obviously mean it's a setup made for dry conditions. Same for the rain icon, which is depicting a setup for wet conditions.

You're not French.

Not too much I'd say, at least with the Williams. And I wouldn't see it as competition, I _KNOW_ that you know a lot more about setups. :D
 
I'll definitely have to try out your Catalunya setup when I get around to that race. I need all the help I can get on that damn track. :crazy:
 
I appreciate what you guys are doing, but I would suggest you at least make a note that anyone using 11/11 spring settings is going to be faster than your tunes until they patch that bug. It's unfortunate.

I appreciate what you guys are doing, but I would suggest you at least make a note that anyone using 11/11 spring settings is going to be faster than your tunes until they patch that bug. It's unfortunate.

I know but I don't like making hints when it comes to bugs and glitches- however, you're absolutely right: setting the springs to 11/11 will be faster than every setup until it's been fixed. Sadly. :ouch:

Why did you change them? I thought about alignment settings like the ones you had posted this morning but I just couldn't cope with them and the ones posted led to a better rhythm for me. :)

Rear was overly excited at times. That's not to say it isn't with the tune I ended up posting, just less so...at least it is for me.
 
I did a 1:11.593 in the Williams car during Q2 at Montreal.

I tried your setup and couldn't get it to turn in well for me.

It's meant to be used without any aids, in case you're using some. I'm also playing with the default DFGT settings.

I hate Catalunya...from the bottom of my heart, seriously. Not because of my ex who's from said region but exclusively because of the race track. I'd rather step back when it comes to top speed than spin out in the last chicane. :P

Regarding the Silverstone setup: I think the cornering speed is a bit low but I couldn't work out how to fix it. In case anyone finds the magic button: let us know!
 
Your Melbourne tune is pretty brilliant. Tweaked it to how I know my driving style works and I put in a 1:20.478 on the first try. Nice work. :cheers:



Edit: I should add though that I think your gearing is a little unorthodox in that tune. I lengthened the 2nd gear, but otherwise there is great torque throughout, maybe just a tweak needed to the 7th gear length to accommodate DRS/KERS for one's track preferences.

Thanks and yep, I'm not really brilliant when it comes to the gearbox - I'm more or less setting it up by trial and error and don't really know by heart how to set it up.

The Nürburgring one should behave like glue with the tail being a little bit trigger happy in corners 2 & 3, just in case anyone is wondering. Last one for today, time to hit the sack. :dunce:

The Hungary one (see post below) is more stable but the race is in rainy conditions and I don't know how to adapt my settings to it plus I have to work tonight, so no tinkering today. Any idea? :(

I used your setup for malaysia and worked pretty well for me. I achieved low 1.37 but I'm not a.d. great driver. Anyway thanks mate
