Hello there, I'm about to switch to the world of wheel users. And what's a wheel without a proper rig, right? This thread will be for tracking progress of my rig build and it will be updated with pictures and occasional good ol' walls o' text.

After many months of hard trying and failing to find a Logitech/Thrustmaster wheel in my country/city I started to lose hope...in that moment of desperation I contacted Fanatec and asked them if they are willing to ship their products to my country (Serbia, Europe, not in EU) and they agreed (to my amazement).
I ordered a 911 GT3 RS v2 with CSP and H shifter and it's due to arrive today.

Plan [COMPLETED]:

#1: Get the needed items

a) Wheel

b) Seat

c) Metalwork

#2: Fabrication

a) Actual fabrication

b) Painting

#3 GETTING GOOD

a) Getting used to the wheel

b) Getting tank

So the plan is made. As I do and complete each part of it (the plan) - I'll post pictures in a post and link them to the plan line so you won't have to scroll through many pictures on the original post.

I hope everything turns out good and let's get this started!

status: completed

expenses:
- wheel: 385 euros
- customs: 115 euros
- steel sheets: 10 euros
- paint: 10 euros
- seat: 80 euros
- seat covers: 30 euros

grand total: 630 euros
budget: 660 euros

My Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS ClubSport Edition arrived yesterday. Needless to say I was amazed! The wheel is great and feels amazing.
ClubSport pedals are out of this world and after some tweaks they feel almost as good as on my real car.
Not testing until my rig is complete.

I had a Sparco seat in mind but due to budget I realised that the scrapyard is the best solution.
Tried out many cars including:
Renault Espace, Renault Clio, Ford Probe, Ford Scorpio, Peugeot 106, VW Golf mkII GTI, BMW Series 3 E36 and BMW Series 5 E34.
Guess which one I picked?
Renault Clio! By far the best seat, very comfortable and fully adjustable.

Seat feels great and it has many adjustments. It's not torn in anyplace or anything like that, it just doesn't look sporty but some seat covers in orange will make it look 10x more attractive.
I had Sparco seats in mind but Customs will set me down by 110 euros on Monday so I had to buy an used seat (which is much more comfy and adjustable than 170 euro Sparco).

Looking like a great start. Great package from Fanatec! Can't wait to see finished cockpit. Seat looks great and most important, comfy for hours of racing...

I'm getting started with the frame tomorrow. I reckon the frame will be completed in 1 day, so the whole cockpit should be done by wednesday or thursday (at most).

Bucket seats aren't very comfortable and aren't adjustable. This seat has everything (including height) adjustable so that's why I bought it.

By the way welcome to :gtplanet:!

Ah, I remember the day when that exact package arrived on my door! First wheel too! Still have it situated on my rig, not hard mounting it yet because I might want to drop the ball on the CSR Elite later on next year.

Thanks for the welcome 
Sounds good, will be checking back this week, hoping the build goes well. Looking forward to pics when finished.

Pictures will be here of course! :)

I just tested the wheel, pedals and shifter and I can confirm it's all working flawlessly!
Buttons all work, FFB is great, CSPs are out of this world and the shifter is nice with great resistance.
I just did 50 meters and dissasembled the wheel straight away so it's still waiting for the rig to be mounted on.
Fanatec's awesome.

Good stuff!! in my opinion the comfy seats and adjustbility is important, I certainly don't want to seat uncomfortably for the pleasure of video sim, but when I drive out in real car, I would need a bucket seat to secure me in place.

Nice choice of wheel n pedals!! 👍👍

Wheel is amazing and the pedals are beyond belief, can't wait for it all to get finished.

Great work, wheel looks amazing. No need for a bucket seat since there is no g force. Only if you want cool look. I used playseat for one day and my back really hurt.

Thanks.
I'm getting started with the actual fabrication tomorrow so all I can say is stay tuned.

And you're right about bucket seats, they don't have any use in sim rigs apart from looking good. 👍

My stepfather and me have started with the fabrication.
We had almost all the materials needed, all I had to buy were 5mm steel plate (for wheel holding and pedals) and 3mm plate (for shifter).

6m 5x3 we used for the frame:

The fabrication has begun!
Everything is made the old way, many thanks to my stepfather, big 👍 to him!
