Normally it would, but unfortunately your a kiwi, so it kinda cancels each other out :D
+1 vote for banning. :P

Just checked the claims website, looks like my PS3 got fixed (replaced...) on Friday, so should hopefully have it back this week. :)

Dear gosh, this thing is falling part on me :scared:

I've fixed it, hopefully it should be correct.

Also, I already have sent a message to our next guest, waiting for his response.

Now that I know I wasn't missing something, I've edited the thread title accordingly. :)

Episode 15 - Toronado

Our guest tonight is a one of the most outspoken members. Please welcome the second bronie to show, Toronado!!

What has brought you here to GTP? How long have you been a member?

Honestly? I had a few pieces of paper that I printed out from my library for $0.20 in 2000 from some other Gran Turismo forum that had the GT2 prize car list on them.

One day, I was taking a break from my new copy of GT4 and busted out GT2, and I couldn't find the papers, so I joined the forums to see if I could get another one from the old guides section. That was... 6 and a half years ago, nearly. Which is kind of surprising, now that I think about it.

I did eventually find the original list, though.

How has GT5 been for you?

I am prohibited by law from answering this question.

What has been your favourite vehicle to drive at the moment?

Oh boy. That's a tough one. A month ago it was the GT-R Proto, but ever since the OCD included it I'm gonna have to say the Chaparral 2J. Something about the way that refrigerator drives...

It is so well-behaved at low speeds, with so much grip that it shames everything except the three F1 cars and the X1. It constantly dares you to go faster and faster, giving off vibes that the only limit is how far you are willing to push the thing. Then you hit a bump or curb and the thing goes absolutely bonkers. It's like an Elise 111R with 4 times the horsepower.

What about tracks? Are there any particular favorites you have?

In GT5, or series wide? Series wide, my favorite was always SSR5. I love everything about the way it is set up, from the switchbacks on the back half of the course to the two monster sweeping turns on both ends of the main straightaway.

GT5 specifically, though, I'd have to give the nod to Grand Valley Speedway. The track layout and design is so beautiful that it is fun just to watch races there, but the track has such wonderful flow that it feels wrong to not drive it. Which is weird, because before GT5 I never really cared for the track at all.

Have you played around with photomode at all? If so, how do you like it?

I've done photos for the weekly (hah!) GTP Bronies event races, but other than that and Trophy hunting I haven't done anything with it.

From what I've seen it is much more powerful than the one in GT4, but it seems more cumbersome to use in my limited experience. I even went through the trouble of moving my old GT4 gallery to the GT5 section, but I never actually did anything with it after that. I dunno.

What is your favourite GT game and why?

GT2, without hesitation. So much stuff to do. So much car variety. So many tracks to mess around on.

And, best of all, the game was basically structured in the most "do whatever you want" way in the series. You can do the licences and almost immediately do GT All-Stars Race #3 and after 30 minutes you have so much money that you can basically do whatever you want for a few hours. I liked to (and to this day still do occasionally) put together little mini spec series of cars (like 3000 lb, 325 HP and RWD) and take them to a track and just run hotlaps to see which one was fastest. GT5 comes real close to being able to achieve the same fun, but GT2 is still the master in that regard.

It also helps that so many of the cars in GT2 have racing modifications, and that so many of those look like serial-numbers-filed-off versions of 90's touring cars.

Are there any other video games do you enjoy playing?

I'm a man of all walks of life, as they say.

For example, last weekend I was playing Popful Mail on the Sega CD, then I went to Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (the original PSX one), then I played Disgaea 4 for a few hours before going to bed, then the next day I played Duke Nukem Forever all day, then the day after that I went back to Disgaea 4. Not many games more opposite from each other than those 4.

Switching over to real life, what do you drive? Is it in the game and if so, how does in compare?

A 1994 Chevrolet Blazer.

Though whenever I can, I drive my father's engine-swapped 1990 Volkswagen Cabrio. If nothing else, the New Beetle 2.0 in the game sounds fairly similar to it when you put the semi-racing exhaust on it.

Whats your favorite car and what is it about it that you like so much?

That's a hard question. So many possible choices, all from the same era and for pretty similar reasons.

In the end I would have to choose the post-1991 C4 Corvette, ZR-1 preferably. I always loved the way they looked after the redesign, and it was the first time in two decades where they actually had the power to back it up. Plus, unlike most of the cars that I've loved since I was a child, the C4 isn't an awful thing to live with.

What's your other hobbies?

Freelance journalism for a technology website (ASE Labs). I am also a fairly avid bicycle enthusiast regardless of how bad I am at actually riding them (haven't broken any bones yet!), and I've recently taken up reading for fun again. Plus, you know, the obvious thing.

Anything else you'd like to say?

I blame the potential terribadness of this lap (as I'm typing up the responses to the questions before I actually do it, like a boss) on my lack of practice driving cars in cockpit view. Also, the sun was in my eyes, it was Monday and my leg was broken.

Nice interview

Also, looking at the list of times I'm beginning to think I didn't push anywhere near hard enough on my lap. There's no way I'm 2 seconds slower than VEXD ;)

Toronado-12? Did Toronado and Terronium-12 finally get married? I told myself I wasn't going to cry...

And don't knock the early 90's Blazer. There are still many times I wish I still had my '92. :P

Can't wait to see the lap.

Not that I want the risk of being passes, but are we going to get the new times on the leaderboard?

I've been terrible on getting those, but I will put them up.

Bad news, the PS3 is having problems again :indiff:

I'm currently searhing for someone who can do NTSC replays on a regular basis. I'll get an interview up this week, I mean it. I've just been juggling everything else, including college of all things.

Great thread! 👍
Some nice interviews and laps.

But, can I give a little tip.
I was a bit confused on the 'W' and 'C' next to the times. (which eventally was obvious. :dunce: -> me)
May I suggest to use these maybe?

Everyone, I have officially decided (Really I should've done this long ago) to make two seperate leaderboards, one for WRS drivers and one for everyone else. I'm thinking we'll have a WRS driver once a month.

ATTENTION:

Interviews will be posted up back on the original Sunday schedule, beginning with the next one. Sorry I haven't posted one as I wanted, the person I chose has declined so I'll be looking for someone else. I want to say though that starting this Sunday, the interviews (and Hopefully, Videos) will be up back to the regular schedule.

Sorry guys, A recent loss in the family had me put things on hold so I've spent most of the time with them during the difficult time. I'm back to doing the interviews and I will be posting a new interview along with a video this weekend from our next guest.

Don't worry. Family comes before :gtplanet:

My sincere condolences.

I hope you could give and get the support needed in times like this.
