GT5 2.0 Standard Cockpit vs. GTPSP Cockpit View

I simply loved the idea of having the black cockpits for standards on GT5. This really improved the immersion when using those cars (I love my standards...) and makes things easier because now I can drive using cockpits in all cars instead of Premiums only...

But, when I first seen some GTPSP videos, I was thrilled because the cars showed some bits of the exterior too, scoops, hoods, etc... and our GT5 views doesn't have this...

So, as PD is listening to us, maybe they could enable these details in the future? Can somebody tweet Kaz about? :)

Some examples:

Yeah the fact that you can't see anything like the hood it's a little annoying, everything feels too flat, even if i enjoy the black interior view too.
It's just like the photo mode i guess, they avoid to see the exterior too close because of the low quality.
So they surely can, but they just don't want.

Heres the picture of the Benz from 2.0. My guess is the textures were to low so they some how scrubbed them.

I personally don't want to settle for a simple interior view like this. While PD is messing about TRYING to get standard interiors, Turn10 have had interior views in all their cars since Forza 3. I've been playing Forza 3 over GT for the last few months and have to say that they put alot more effort into the details then GT has with it's standards. Pick up your game PD you know you can do better, do it already!

Do better? Have you seen the premium cars? that should show you what PD is all about. The standards are all about compromising which is cool in my opinion because I get to drive more cars. I'm glad they added this view I hate bumper cam.

Yes it is better now and gives a feeling that you are inside the car, mirrors also work. They could show the hood as well but anyways it is definitely better than nothing.

No doubt I would loved a hood and maybe the rear spoilers on cars such as STI, I'm glad they at least mimic the outline. You nailed it when you said gives you a feeling of being in a car. Sometimes when I'm in the zone out I forget the cockpit is all blacked out I'm really glad we at least have this view.

As I said in one of the other threads, I honestly can't use it the way it is now. It makes it impossible for me to judge where the front of the car is, and it causes me to second-guess myself to the point of being useless for me to use. I also think it is kind of silly that PD didn't use this chance to revert the Standard convertibles to the way they were in GT4 so we would have more modeled interiors (there would easily be a hundred more cars with modeled interiors if they did), or bring back the Toyota Sera interior that was also completely modeled in GT4.

Which is a shame, because I personally liked the GTPSP cockpits far more than the Premium cockpits.

T I could understand that man, I would of loved a hood for that view, but I hate bumper cam so this will do until we get better. 👍

I'm using the new cockpit cams and kinda enjoying them, but I agree 100% with you. The lack of the "body" makes it weird on some cars. I don't feel that much in smaller cars such as the VW Golf GTI MKI, but in bigger cars its really not right. It was so good on GTPSP!

Better than nothing, but still room for improvement. Still didn't get why they haven't made it like GTPSP. And agree on the GT4 convertibles part.

I think they probably didn't had the time to do that for this update as I felt the standards cockpits a bit rushed even in their simplicity.

Again, I'll use them, but I hope to see improvement.

Yep same here. I felt immediately at home and liked it more than I thought. The sense of inertia is done well too, it is not static neither exaggerated

All in good time people, have a little patience. It is clear that sooner or later every thing will come together. PD proved that is listening to the fans.
As for now, with all the problems this year (natural disaster, nuclear disaster, PSN outage, moved to a new building) PD have picked the best solution for everybody.
Enjoy the game.

Yup, I can see the big picture man, and I can't wait until it hits! 👍

Like Toronado said, without seeing the car´s nose, it´s impossible to judge where to put the car in the corner.

I´ve always enjoyed the Standards, and usually drove them in the oldschool 3rd person view. I think I´ll be enjoying my standard´s exhaust note a little bit longer until they start appearing as premiums (I wish).

Oh definitely agree that they have exceptional work with the premiums, but you have only 200 premiums give or take and 800 plus standards that lack any respectable amount of detail in the interiors. All I'm saying is, it's obviously doable for PD, why not get it outta the way so that we have the interior views of a decent calibre, even something like juiced2 interiors will do me for now.

::Rant Warning::

If the issue is that texture quality is too low, ... black is a thousand times lower quality... I don't see why the convertible tops couldn't just be open, and its apparent from the mirrors that they are actually the mirrors from the standard models, and things like rollcages etc are there, at the same time though, tracking down 800 cars, collecting interior photos, arting the photos into textures, and overlaying the textures where they are supposed to appear, is an arduous task I don't think PD has the manpower to pull off this fast. Certainly if they worked on it over the course of the next year, that would rock, but do we want everyone at PD working on texturing the standards, or do we want them making NEW stuff.

I agree that the black seems very oddly muted, but I can see that aside from the man hours it would take to texture the cars, there is a good framework for them to work off of. I'm sure many can agree:

PD: start working with the cars you have already {i.e. Convertibles} and start giving us something better to look at, even if little by little! I prefer low quality textures to flat black, who cares what Forza fans say :P

tl:dr : PD is going the right way, just keep on heading that way!

PD has had interior views in all cars scince GT5p (with the exception of that GT-R concept car that didn't have an interior in the real world either). Standard cars are cars from earlier games.

All the GT5:P cars ended up premium though, so it doesn't matter. If i remember right, there are at least a few soft top cars from GT4 that they could open the top on and see the interior.

A random curiosity strikes, and I'm going to check how the Toyota GT-One and similar race cars fared.

Edit:

Making a room online, somewhere wet, to just to check it out, n take screenshots: The New View

You are right but wrong about GT5:P :) ,in fact they have *all* the Standard cars interiors since GT4 Prologue.
Remember the promo and the making of video ?

The bottom line is that they have data, photos, details of their Standard cars

What about when it's raining?

It's quite fun on some cars... I tried last night with the Spyker and as it has a glass roof it went pretty funny and entertaining... and if you guys haven't noticed, different from the PSP version, GT5 cockpit cam actually has glass...

Again, just hope they add the "body" to it.

We need to bug Kaz on twitter about this.

Does anybody remember that PD originally said back in 2010 that they didn't put blacked out interior cockpit views on standard cars like they did on GT-PSP because they tried it and it looked wrong and ugly in Hi-Def on the PS3. I wonder what it was that made them change their minds ?

I'm really glad they did because I've always used bumper cam for premiums and standards as I didn't like going from one view to another just because it was a different car. Now I've switched to cockpit view for everything it has made it a different game for me. I am totally addicted all over again and haven't touched F1 2011 since !

Did anyone else notice that although PD gave us all "black interior views" but you can still see the Steering wheel + hand moving when you doing a really tide corner.

So what I am trying to say here is this "black interior views" feels like it's the base of the actual premium detail interior.

But however I notice 1 car so far has nothing, which means you will not be able to see the steering wheel + hands moving, that is Subaru Impreza Wagon.

I will keep on searching to see if any cars that has no steering wheel + hands moving.

Might be (not hoping too much) in the near future, PD will replace all those "black interior views" into "detail interior views".

I don't remember PD or Yamauchi-san said such thing. All I remember is that he answered when some twittered that PD should do the same thing they did in GTPSP regarding the dark silhouette cockpit and all he said was that it's possible (and indeed it is)

I didn't really think the missing bodies were a big deal until today. I was driving my Dodge Ram and looked back, and I couldn't see the bed of the truck. It bothered me a bit because it just looked so odd. I think adding wipers to the standard cockpits is a bit more important but I really hope they can add the bodies as well.
