Agreed! F1 you need to overlay some text and a perfume bottle onto that image then send it off.

Quite a large update here. I spent the holidays in Manila this year. The last time I visited was in 2007, which was before I had any interest in photography, so it was interesting to see the Philippines from both a more mature and artistic view.

These are print scans so I tried my best to clean them up. A film scanner is next on my list of things to buy.

Film used: Ektar 100, 400TX (either shot at stock speed or pushed one stop).

Cameras used: Canonet QL17 GIII, Nikon F3HP + 50/1.8, Rolleiflex 75/3.5 Tessar, Hexar AF

Arise, dead thread!

From my first ever self developed roll, aside from a few drying marks I'm pretty pleased with the results! Ilford Delta 100 in ID11 1+1 shot through the trusty Hexar AF:

My favourite shot on the roll, love how part of the London skyline has been reflected on the window.

, I'm still trying to get a hang of using a camera without a meter, but I feel that a Leica was the right choice in terms of equipment for me (used a few cheaper compact rangefinders before moving up to the big one), it isn't the fastest camera out there but it inspires confidence. As for 500px, I quite like it. The userbase is quite small at the moment, but it just means that the more serious photographers use it so the standard of work tends to be higher. Community wise it isn't so good as you rarely get any constructive crit, but that happens with flickr as well anyway. Regardless, it's a nice way to display a portfolio online since their portfolio templates are iPad friendly. I have a flickr (or three) but I hardly update them (in fact, one is just sitting there completely empty, I have the intention of reprocessing all my best shots and putting them up there but I keep forgetting).

Thanks, I'm about halfway through two rolls so expect more at the end of the week.

In other photographic news, I may be shooting more music related stuff if the interviews with James Blake and Jamie xx go ahead. In addition to that I've got a few fashion shoots to do, so I'm going to be rather busy this Winter!

Have to say I am loving the shots coming from the Leica. Solid contrast and the 400 grain adds just that extra touch for many of them. Generally solid use of DoF as well.

Also, if I ever come to the UK, you must introduce me to some of your friends

I finally got some shots I took a few months ago developed. I wanted to test two things, the first being how my dev+film combo held up (Diafine+Tri-X @ ISO1250/1600) and secondly if shooting street with a TLR is as good a rangefinder. I think it is, the first shot wouldn't have been possible if I just used a smaller camera, at least not without being shouted at. The camera evoked curiosity rather than paranoia.

(shot into the sun, this old 50's glass flares up in a nice way)

Also, an alternate shot of smoking guy. I did some practice dodging and burning on this, apologies if it looks weird. Since scans always come out flatter than usual (more so with diafine and tri x) some extra processing is required to really make the highlights pop:

I'm currently getting through quite a film backlog at the moment. I'm halfway through developing 11 rolls of film, it's not a lot compared to some photographers I follow (some of which hit a hundred in a fortnight!), but so far there are a few interesting shots. I'll post a full set once I've gone through them all and picked the best shots.

The last set in general is pretty damn good. Great exposition... I know the low light helps, but I've seen lot of those with the brightest parts all burned up. I really like the first picture.

Big street update, they were either shot on the Hexar or Leica over the past three months or so, enjoy:

The Hexar's AF doesn't focus through glass sometimes, so you often end up with a ghostly blur behind the glass

Thanks DM, none of those were shot at waist level, the ones that do look like that are probably due to me crouching or already being seated. I only shoot at waist level when I use my TLR, although I do have a shot on one of the undeveloped rolls that I did take from waist level.

The weather's been getting better over here so I decided to take my Rolleiflex out for a few walks.

Mile End, London

I took three shots of this girl, the first two were of her looking into the distance, but they were very out of focus. This is the very last frame I shot of her, and all the elements just fell into place.

I often take shots that I wouldn't usually take whenever I shoot squares:
