The Mine's '00 set a breakneck time to dethrone the HKS here. Just over half a tenth in it.

All of the drift machines struggled here obviously. Comfort Soft tyres does not help them.

Top 5 were all 4WD before the Amuse S2k Turbo broke the chain.

CT230R was fastest in Top Class. Mine's '00 was fastest in Higher Tier. HPA Stage II was fastest in High Tier. Corvette was fastest in American Muscle. AEM S2000 was fastest Drift Machine. RE Amemiya was fastest in Middle Tier. Skyline GT-R R-tune was fastest in High Road-Spec and the only car not on SS to break into the top 10. Amuse S2000 R1 was fastest in S2000 Mania (excluding Opera). Tom's X540 Chaser was fastest in Low Road-Spec. Spoon Civic was fastest in Lower Road-Spec.

Mine's '00 took win by .7mph.

Barely any true correlation to previous results. Just came down to which cars had the best mix of powerband, power and downforce in the end, not to mention tranny setup.

Despite the different results, STILL a 5/5 split between 4WD and RWD cars (mainly because the Nismo Skylines both did so well).

Amuse S2000 Turbo took best in Top Class. High End Performance G37 took best in High Tier. X540 Chaser took fastest again in Low Road-Spec. TRD Celica actually took fastest in Lower Road-Spec :lol: Every other class had same winners as previous test(s).

Drift Machines really suffered here with their horrific wheelspin.

All 9 of the 4WD cars in the test took the top 9 spots.

CT230R took highest in Top Class again. Evo VI was highest in Middle Tier. S2000 R1 took highest in S2000 Mania again INCLUDING the Opera this time. AEM S2000 was highest Drift Machine. HPA Stage II took back first in High Tier. Spoon Integra was highest in Lower Road-Spec this time. Every other class had same leaders as previous test(s).

Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo finally actually did win something, this time coming out on top by a whopping 1.6 seconds over the CT230R.

Results here were mainly tyre based obviously. All of the top runners used SS, although the Buick Special was beaten by 3 SH runners. Only exceptions to this were Drift Machines obviously.

This also seemed to finely determine what the true 'classes of the cars were here. This is what I think it should be like, you can work out where they all are for yourself.

Top Class: 1:55-1:57
Higher Tier: 1:58-2:00
High Tier: 2:01-2:04
Middle Tier: 2:05-2:07
High Road-Spec: 2:08-2:10
Middle Road-Spec: 2:11-2:14
Low Road-Spec: 2:15-2:18
Lower Road-Spec: 2:19 or over

The Drift Machines and the Spoon CR-Z should be discredited from this obviously as they are considerably more unique in their ways. Though that said, the AEM S2000 and Blitz Dunlop ER34 Skyline were right next to each other, as well as the ER34 D1 Spec and HKS Genki Hyper Silvia...maybe the pairings could be put into their own form of class??? Spoon CR-Z is obviously too slow to hang with anything else here and should largely be left to spec series I find.

But either way, for the old classes I was using, S2000 GT1 Turbo was fastest in Top Class, Mine's '06 finally dethroned the Mine's '00 from its usual position in Higher Tier, the Amemiya RX-7 was fastest in Middle Tier, Trans Cammer beat the Corvette in American Muscle, S2000 R1 didn't beat Opera this time in S2000 Mania, Civic was fastest again in Lower Road-Spec. Every other class had same leaders as previous test(s).​

Right then, that covers every ounce of testing possible for these cars now. I do wish that people use my class theory for their tuner championships, I hope it will be very, very useful to you all.

Now though, to add up all the results and check and find which one, of them all...is the fastest in the game. Stay tuned, hearts will be properly broken here. :P

Right then, so now to see which were the fastest 10 of the tuners in this test. Beware of shock results in this one...

Amuse Carbon R (R34) '04


This was tied with the Nismo Skyline GT-R R-tune (R34) '99, but through a tiebreaker (Grand Valley Lap position) the Amuse came ahead.

If this was GT4, this thing would be getting nowhere near the results it does here. In GT4, this thing had some of the most terrible acceleration this side of the average kei car, and it wasn't terribly great to drive either. Here now, most of that problem has been fixed and the Amuse Carbonara has been much improved. I'm not quite sure what agreement was achieved to set the downforce on this thing to 0/15, but either way it is still rather fast. And plus, you can get more horsepower with this than any other tuner, with this maxing out at 740hp. Not that you might wanna handle that anyway...

...So either way, this is the Amuse Carbonara, it is number 10, and, though it could have been higher (the 0-60 time didn't contribute well), it did at least make it to the top 10.

Grand Touring Garage 1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer

For a classic, this did very well to stick in there. Its results were all very well balanced, and despite being the heaviest of the entire cast of tuners, it also starts off as the most powerful of the entire cast of tuners, which helped it a lot. And it was also surprisingly rapid on the track, seeing as it beat off the other two American Muscle cars. However, it was the only one of the three that hit the limiter, which is odd given that GTG gave this thing a 7'6" 5th gear. Either way, it still did 200, but there is so much more there, I reckon. Still, its track performance is high, and that's good enough for most.

So 9th place for the Mustang then. However, it is now going to be sorely disappointed. Because just ahead of it, in 8th...

8.

Art Morrison Corvette'60

This proved a pretty good surprise. It was able to hang in surprisingly well among the faster, younger tuners, getting a set of 8th places in the acceleration tests. It wasn't terribly fast on the track, but it scored a massive trump with the top speed test. It hit 207.7mph - a full 3.3 faster than the S2k Turbo managed and just 0.7 mph off of the top placed Mine's. Much of that came down to the lack of downforce, although I don't know how so much air is able to travel around to give speed when there's a great big gaping hole in the middle of the car. If this had a closed roof, the Mine's would be long gone in terms of top speed. But still, impressive for a car based in 1960.

So a worthy 8th for the Art Morrison Corvette then, and a win over its two American Muscle rivals. Now though, we move to some of the far more serious stuff...

HPA Motorsports Stage II R32

This one was quite weird when I drove it. The 4WD on this thing helped massively, but the powerband on it wasn't entirely that great. Massive turbos and all that. However, this thing still got good times on the acceleration sections, despite a big downfall in top speed. Pretty much akin to the HKS CT230R, that. On a track it actually did a pretty decent job too, with its seemingly heavy weight not proving a problem for this Canadian-modded car. I don't think I'll quite ever be happy with the way it just all feels though. :indiff:

Still, a 7th for HPA is not so bad thus far...but they have bigger things to come yet. The next car is not one of them though.

6.

Amuse S2000 GT1 '04

The original S2000 GT1, usually snubbed in favour of the S2k Turbo now, still does have some worth. Apparently, the AI quite likes it now, and here it also manages to be pretty fast. Only beaten by the 4WDs and S2k Turbo in the acceleration tests, it also managed to get a 4th place in the Grand Valley Lap test. Top speed again was a bit of a killer here, and with the massive downforce you have everywhere you can rather see why. But that downforce would also appear to help it on the track too, so it's win-win.

So 6th then for the Amuse S2000 GT1. Now we move to the truly serious stuff in the top 5...

5.

HPA Motorsports FT565 twin turbo Audi TT


This was tied with the HKS CT230R '08 but lost the Grand Valley Lap tiebreaker.

And now we have HPA's superspeed superstar. Despite being a little bit outclassed on track and having a pretty low ranking on top speed, this hopped up TT was able to get a very strong collection of results going, never featuring outside of the top 5 in any test bar top speed. However, most of its rivals were able to better it in the various categories, so while this HPA is fast, you can find faster. Still, that isn't to take away from its great acceleration and good speed on the track. Very good multi-purpose weapon this one.

So a 5th for HPA's main competitor then. Now though we move onto some even more serious stuff...

4.

HKS CT230R '08

I know. Strange, isn't it?

You see, while the CT230R won almost half of the tests in this, its top speed rank was a lowly 19. And that is what cost it what effectively would have been 1st place.

But let's not get too bogged down in that, shall we?

This is immensely fast. Its speedo will never stop climbing - ever. It gets to 100 a good bit faster than its nearest contender and will cover a 1/4 mile a good bit faster too. The S2k Turbo can run it close over a mile as the CT230R begins to run out of steam, but clearly the CT230R is very well the fastest off the line. Sadly, the boundaries of the scoring meant the CT230R was never gonna finish very high, but oh well.

So then, with the CT230R down now, which 3 could possibly be left? If you've been following carefully, you could probably guess by now.

Mine's BNR34 Skyline GT-R N1 base '06

Arguably the most well-rounded tuner in the game. This thing did not finish one test outside of the top 5. It had it all. It was great straight away, then after that, then after that, then after that, then maxed out at 203 and then went to Grand Valley and set a rapid time there. There isn't a whole lot this Mine's Skyline won't do for you. The only thing it is missing in its set is a first place. That cost it quite badly: it was, in fact, just one extra position away from tieing with 2nd place.

But either way, it is a 3rd place for Mine's, and that leaves just 2 cars left...which is 2, and which is 1?

2.

Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo

Well, wouldya look at that? The so-called fastest has lost in my testing...through various flaws.

Yes, it is the fastest on the track and the fastest by a huge margin. But then when it comes to a straight line...there isn't 4WD to help it off the line. There isn't enough power to claw it back after that. There's too much downforce to make it the best at the top end, even despite the cheatsy 7th gear that they slotted in just so it didn't befall the same fate as the original GT1.

Still, there is no denying the actual speed of this thing. But despite all of it, it only ever won one test, and that being the track test, which I know people will say has more priority over a normal test, and you're right...it probably does. But really, the temptation to test these all on Route X is too great to not include them as such...

...so then, if even the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo can't win the overall fastest tuner in the game then...what the bloody hell could?

1.

Mine's BNR34 Skyline GT-R V.Spec N1 base '00

Oh. It's my 'old favourite'.

Yet here, despite it being acclaimedly outclassed by many other cars here, it is still overall the fastest. Most of it comes down to sheer straight line speed, but every inch of performance counts in the world of cars...

This thing shocked the CT230R in the 0-60 times, and beat everyone else in G-Force, then went on to set the fastest top speed. The secret to this? The tiny 0/15 downforce stat that changes everything.

Unlike the '06 Mine's which has a chocload of downforce to help it on the track, this does not have as such. Plus, this gets a longer tranny anyway. And so, while this may be a bit outclassed on the track, the speed in a straight line is so great, it might not even matter by the end.

And so, it is the Mine's BNR34 Skyline GT-R V.Spec N1 Base '00 that is the fastest tuner in the game. Which might not be good. It'll be GT4 all over again... :nervous:

And now, coming up next, a true test for these cars. We know which is the fastest, but we also know...speed isn't everything. So which of these cars aren't just ones for speedy occasions?

Overall Top 10

These 10 cars are the luckiest of them all. The ones where the tuners got it absolutely, dead spot on. Using a mix of pure fun, pure soul and pure speed and combining them all in the absolute right way. Let's begin...

10.

Opera Performance 350Z '04

This Opera Performance was an entirely new experience for me in this game, like many of the other tuners here. However, I'll tell you something, this one was, very, very lucky to make it to the top 10. The results show that 3 cars were within a single point of this thing (and I'd have decided the winner overall), and another 4 were within 5 of it.

But whatever. This Opera proved to be pretty good fun for me. It was all very slidey, with plenty of power to use, and for the most part much of Nissan's original creation was still in it too. The only slight problem was...erm, Opera...your S2000's faster than it. Might wanna fix that. Either way, this thing also had a very good top end, although the two Nismo Skylines are faster in most respects next to this thing.

But still, a good number 10 for this Opera (just!).

9.

Amuse S2000 GT1 '04​


Tied on points with the 8th place car, but I gave that the decision over this.

This is Amuse's original rocket ship, the S2000 GT1, before it went clinical in Turbo form. And this one is better.

Only beaten by the top 4WDs and S2k Turbo in acceleration, this thing's main, key part is the sheer speed it has on a track. 4th overall is something not to be ashamed of in this thing on Grand Valley. And while the AI does seem to be going to developing a good liking towards this thing now, this is still a super fast thing no matter how you look at it.

So, 9th then for the original Amuse speed freak. But there is so much better to come...

8.

Art Morrison Corvette'60

Art Morrison's Corvette doesn't look terribly powerful given the specs. Despite having similar power levels to the Buick Special, it has a decent level more weight to it. But still the Corvette proved to be a ridiculously fast thing with no respite in straight line speed.

And while it might not have been the fastest car on track, the power in the car is so great that it really can make up some decent time on the straights. And of course, as a 60's Vette, it's always gonna be a pretty joyful ride. This outclasses the Mustang in general speed and soul, and, while it is a pricey way of driving, it was rather worth it paying for this car, I find.

So this is the muscle car that I found the best and it comes in at a pretty strong 8th. Now then, moving on...

7.

Spoon S2000 '00​

Spoon's S2000 was something I hadn't run in this game either before. And, seeing as I had tested it after the S2000 Street Version and Opera S2000, I was expecting similar results. With a power level that is slightly higher than the R1, this would more than likely be getting in many slides.

And it did. Spoon's finest did a pretty good job, but the thing is...compared to the aforementioned S2000s, it just felt a little bit colder. Where as the S2000 Street Version is a looks modification as well as a moderate performance and also slides a lot more, and the Opera is very fast, this doesn't slide as much nor is as fast. It's certainly a great car, but unfortunately the others better it.

Which will be proven by Number 6 now...

6.

Amuse S2000 Street Version '04

Well, this one was a ball of fun like I'd hardly seen before. The Amuse S2000 Street Version.

This thing is one of the most obedient cars I have ever driven. If you plan on doing an early slide into a corner, get sideways enough and the Street Version just goes with it without exception. But try and keep it in a straight line, and it's easy. This thing is really very brilliant. It is slower than other S2000s, for sure, but this is really just a brilliant, slidey little thing that never fails to excite and give enjoyment.

And after that, you might as well be wondering who could ever be in the top 5. Well...

5.

Amuse Carbon R (R34) '04​

Much like the speed tests, you now know I couldn't possibly be playing GT4. As I'll say again, this thing was treacherous in GT4 to say the least. Piss poor acceleration, horrific handling and a general sense of wanting the drive to be over as quickly as possible.

But Good News! The Carbonara is now a much better force here. It has decent acceleration this time, and has much speed when modified. And because it's now FR, you can slide it as well. Though it doesn't look 1123kg. Goes to show the miracles that Time Attack cars manage.

So a much improved Amuse Carbonara is our number 5. Now though, we are getting onto some of the very, very serious stuff here.

Opera Performance S2000 '04

I drove this on the Nurburgring first of all in my review, and if you saw it, you'll know I absolutely loved it. This thing is one of the easiest cars to drive in any manner you will. Though most of the time, you'll probably more than likely get yourself sideways on purpose, 99.9% of the time. Because this thing is a majestic thing at sliding.

It is so good at sliding, you wonder how it isn't a drift machine. Thing is, while it has not a huge deal of power, it has such a low weight I could lift it. I seriously recommend you find one of these now, because there's not much else like it...

And now we've reached the Opera S2000, you'd have to say it would be very hard to decide the top 3 from there. But still...

3.

RE Amemiya FD3S RX-7​

This was something I certainly hadn't driven yet. So I was expecting quite a surprise from this thing I suppose. And sure enough, this thing shone.

The speed is good. On a track, it is superb, and while the low torque of the rotary doesn't help it in a straight line, it's not particularly dangerous to drive in a straight line. But the thing that gives this the max credit is the sound of the engine. This is what helps it to the top soul rating of all the tuners here...

I already said in my description of it what it sounds like again, so may I please quote it:

The rotary engine, with this exhaust, sounds totally amazing. Because it is what a rotary should always be. The area where you can hear the damn thing rotating...it sounds like it's almost fapping. And you should be too, to that bloody engine noise. Try and keep up :lol:

And now, I think that's quite enough explanation for the RE Amemiya. In short, the engine is epic, and not much else matters. Now, for No. 2.

Well, nothing better than to take a classic name in the tuning industry to this level of goodness, eh?!

The Mine's Skyline. Such a name in the world of tuning. No Skyline can ever better it, because this is one Skyline, taken to near perfection, and made by some of the best boys in the business.

The result is next to a perfect mixture. You've got all the handling you need, all the speed you need, everything you need to get this thing to the top of the speed chain. But it is still a Skyline in nearly every aspect of the word. Which might not be good if you don't like the overly high numbers of the silly things in this game, but this one is fully worthy of a place here. Every tuner is really worth a place in this game...although not every car in the game. You don't need 1070 cars with half of them being identical to another...I think.

And with this Mine's Skyline coming into number 2...what has beaten it? Whaddya think, guys?

This is the tuner. Not just a tuner. The tuner. The quintessential goodness to everything that is right about tuning. The ultimate, HKS CT230R.

This thing has some of the most lightning speed in this game. LMPs could effectively cower to this thing. In fact, they do, because I beat the XJR-9 three times in the Dream Car Championship seasonal, and before Spec I (where it's noteworthy this was not that good handling, I am using a tune in these instances yes, though not for this test) I beat a full field of them in the Gran Turismo All Stars. The AI seems to have gotten better since then and now I can't get much better than 2nd-3rd in some races, but the point is clear. This thing is bloody fast.

And yet still, just because it is fast doesn't mean it's gonna be a completely geeky thing. Because the handling on this, since the days of Spec I when its suspension had a virus when stock, has now much improved. You can actually do better, I'm gonna admit that, but you can't deny this thing will handle. And plus, the acceleration is so, so good anyway, it might not even matter what the car handles like...

But there is soul in there. Plenty of it. You can tell. Listen to the sound...it makes you grin. It's trying to win you over. And with all the performance it brings too...it didn't win me over by half, did it?

Quite frankly, I see no reason why one shouldn't use a CT230R at any given point in your career in GT5. It'll honestly nearly do everything for you...unless you choose the S2k Turbo instead. In that case, I completely understand.

So there we have it. All Tuners Tested is now, officially, complete. And there've been many surprises. Many shocks. Many failures. Many successes. And many tuners. We've seen sliding, speed, sound, shock, superbness and more. And at the end of it all, it's the CT230R that took it all. And with this, all 38 of these tuned up, improved cars will now head home to their bases. And with others...

Threw the Nismo GT-R S-Tune (R32) in the hands of my level 34 Bobs ... Why can't Bobs drive this thing remotely close to fast. It's 11th!!!!!! 30 minutes into the Grand Valley Speedway 300km (EDIT: Now 12th :(); this is going up against like 350Zs and WRXs ... and that's on Sports: Soft tires, too!

With a 150 horsepower advantage over almost every car in the field with no significant weight disadvantage, you'd expect that it could at least beat a stock Impreza WRX or GTO Twin Turbo (which definitely has a weight disadvantage).

I beat the XJR-9 on Grand Valley by a long margin, Suzuka with a few accidents and Eifel after a couple of tries. Eifel was hard because of the long straights around which are death for the CT230R.

It wasn't typing this all up really, more the tedium of doing all the tests in one day. Once I'd gotten through the fastest cars and run into the brick wall of slower ones that's when I got rather bored, I find.

In regards to the Nismo S-tune, I actually beat the Laguna Seca 200 miles in the R-tune with an overtake towards the very end. My Bob led most of the race but as I wasn't watching he must have spun out or something and was 2nd. Going a lot faster than the leader, eventually got him to pass the leading Viper near the very end and got a 4 second win. 2nd-3rd closest enduro I've had I think...

If you noticed right there, these two cars are incredibly hard to tell apart. Both are prizes. Both have very similar 0-60s Both have very similar 0-100s. Both have very similar 1/4 miles. Both even have the same drivetrain - a drivetrain which doesn't even exist in the real world!!!

But, they are in fact, completely different.

Let's start with the Citroen, among all its confusing title types.

Now, you should well know I already reviewed this GT prior to this, so if you read that, you should pretty well know by now what I think of this Citroen and PD tie-up made lethal. So I might as well reiterate much of what I said here.

And I shall start by saying again how this has the worst onboard view in the world. I will not kid - the thin window, combined with decal, combined with head-up display, combined with the ton of interior around it, make this the least usable on board view in the whole game. In fact, the only thing that could make it any worse was a lot of rain pelting down on it. A point I proved earlier in testing this thing.

If this thing actually existed in real life, Citroen would go bankrupt, for sure. They simply wouldn't be able to keep up with the piling costs of damage done to the GT Race Cars. In fact, for that matter, that could apply to the Road Car and Concept as well. Their views aren't much better. Although, as a matter of fact, Citroen might as well go bankrupt building it.

5,600,000 Cr.? That is an asking price higher than any non-Formula or classic (race) car in this entire game. (Technically the Speed 8 has a higher base price but there's no telling how much you might actually get that for.) It's a good job you will win it from the B-Spec Dream Car Championship...but then the chance of getting the right colour is reduced considerably (for instance the one I won came in silver). Because, no joke, I would give up 5.6 million Cr. - and I did - for the red metallic this thing comes in and the effect it gives the car.

In terms of Premiums, this is probably the most Premium of them all. Partly because PD will have actually built the shape themselves, but mostly because the damn thing looks so good to start that Aston Martin would even consider giving a look to this thing. This thing can rival V12 Vantages and One-77s every day of the week, and Aventadors, and...anything. This thing looks gorgeous and a half. There's nationalities I'd prefer more than French though. (Exception: Megane RS250.)

You have some great looking lights, great angles, great arches, great side sills, great aero parts, great roof, great back end (hah), great exhausts and a great big bloody massive 🤬 wing. Dead on masterpiece. And no, the Road Car does not follow this on.

And the Citroen ain't half bad to drive either. It might have 615bhp which goes to the '---'th part of the car that doesn't exist, but since it's decently weighed down with 1200kg, which is heavy for race cars admittedly, it isn't going to kill you exactly. And that's good. And unlike most other Citroens, I'm expecting it doesn't fall apart either.

And now, with the Citroen setting down a bloody hard marker to follow, it's now time for the Fury of Mazda to come through and see if it can show this French structure some restaurant manners of its own.

And here it is. This Furai. And I'm gonna start off where I finished with the Citroen. The drive.

With this Furai...it is scary. 511bhp is not a considerable amount, and it only has 300lb-ft, which is even less considerable. But then it has an absolutely near impossible 675kg weight, which is the least considerable of them all. On first thoughts, this would be great. And it is - it will beat the Citroen in many regards, though the top speed is very limited. But I won't blame you if you cower in fear with this thing when you get to a slow corner.

If you saw my review of the W12 Nardo Concept, this has exactly the same problem: if you press the throttle an inch too sharply at the wrong point...you're gone. 511bhp is enough to launch 675kg into space at times, and even with the low torque the bhp will still overwhelm this thing a little. And according to the drivetrain, there isn't anything like 4WD to save you with this because everything goes to the '---'th part of the car, like the GT. Apparently, it's almost completely useless as a drivetrain on this, although it works well on the Citroen. Maybe it's better the heavier your car is...is it MR??? :confused:

Also, as aforementioned, the Furai is not exactly amazing in a straight line. Judging by the stats I got from the engine, it's almost exactly the same as what you could get from an RX-7 LM - the numbers were literally almost the same - but judging by the engine sound it is in fact completely different. However, rotary engines always have the problem of bad torque and that's bad for the top speed, much as you would have seen with the RE Amemiya RX-7 in the All Tuners Tested tests. Here you won't do more than 190 - but you are hitting the limiter, which makes one wonder if Mazda are being too strict with this thing. The low weight helps off the line, certainly, but stick to the twisties with this thing. Didn't necessarily stop it being 2 seconds faster than the Citroen on Sarthe...

However, now the Furai will make up for a lot of that. This is mainly down to the way this thing is gotten.

You can buy a Furai for 1,500,000 Cr., which for its performance is certainly good enough. And honestly, you won't need to worry about colour this time - the Furai is almost perfect in any of the Gran Turismo xxxxx colours it comes in, not to mention that grey and red winged one you can find. However, there is an even easier way to get your Furai. The prize event. The B-Spec NR-A Roadster Cup. You can do this rather early on, and if you relatively tune up your Eunos/Miata/MX-5, or in the case of the Cars in General forum "just buy an NA", you can win it with enough strict abuse towards your Mr. B-Speccy. The prize, which you can get at Level 6 in either of your careers, is this Furai. In whatever colour it chooses, which doesn't matter. I got mine in GT Red Metallic, which is really one of the better ones. This one I bought is Champagne Gold. Makes you wonder why you just can't paint one of these... And having something of this speed, at Level 6, is taking the piss.

This thing, with tuning, will win the Gran Turismo All Stars. It has already been seen as one of the best ways to secure a win in Like the Wind, and I personally won the B-Spec Indy 500 in one (it was a great race. You should know more of it). This thing, without question, comes in as a nominee for absolute most useful car in all of GT Mode. Although, to be fair, I already had the Stealth Models and Chrome Lines when I got the Furai and I got my Furai a decent bit after I did Like the Wind in my 787B.

And...well...what of the looks? Well, really, they're very much excellent. Yes, Standard quality limits your ability to get in real close (without using some of the tricks I use, which I never bothered with on the Furai 'cause they didn't really seem to work), but really, all over, you still can't mistake this thing. It really is a...unique experience of a car in terms of looks.

At the front, you have the lights, blue like veins, and wriggling around like them too. Then you have that lovely, 5-star body of it: simply letting air slide all around it, with intakes to provide relief. You have the black roof, and at the back you have the basic, proto-style wing, and behind that the superb brake lights: the arteries of the car. See, this thing's got blood in it!

And it would. This is meant to be a follow-up to the great 787B, and while it won't perform just as well, it still knows what's in it. This is technically the closest you will ever get to an LMP2 car in this game, minus the insanely low weight, until PD put in Nissan's Signatech LMP2 car. You know it's coming. It is.

And now then, here we are, finished with these two gorgeous wonders. The French, a brilliantly powerful machine with hugely aggressive looks to give you a big smash in the face. And the Japanese, a super-lightweight, super-speed, super-sleek wonder with calm looks, designed to blow you away with the detail and loving care its makers put into it.

So...which one is better? ...Very, very tough.

Based on drive alone, I'd rather have the Citroen. With the Furai, you have to be so much more careful with where you put your points, because if you don't, you're in for a wild ride. The Citroen just stays put though. However, the Furai is nowhere near defeated - as a car, it is unbelievably useful, unbelievably good looking, unbelievably speedy. The Citroen is more pricey, more picky and compared to the Furai, as a car, it seems much more aggressive in its ways. Really, it's nearly impossible to choose between the two. The Furai has the style, the Citroen has the power. Which one you choose is largely up to you...and it's why I'm keeping both.

Final Score (Furai): 17/20

Spiders!

This is the Alfa Romeo type, or more specifically, the 'old' type. Since the 'old' type was discovered, there have been newer versions of the Alfa Romeo Spider, but this was the original type.

But enough of your David Attenborough getaway because this is actually a car. Not an actual spider, sorry.

And it's an Alfa Romeo, from 1966, and if you've seen my stuff before, you will know I've got a good soft spot for these things. The Giulia series specifically. The GTA is a classic rally style Alfa that is very nippy, the Speciale is true luxury and the TZ2 is fast and handles like not much else. This though, is the Spider, which is like a Giulia with the roof cut off. Or, put back on, as it would seem here. And given a very different body, which on first impression, is simplicity at a fine level. It's a very basic oval style shape, but it gives beauty alright.

Driving it, you might have as well noticed it isn't particularly fast. This might be able to make up for that then by being a joy to drive...and it pretty well is. The handling isn't perfect, presumably from much wear and tear after 5 miles of driving, this being an Alfa. But it's far from deathly, and as a nice little bonus, you have a great mix of growling for the soundtrack.

This is very much like the XKR of the 1960s. Only not at all. It sounds far better in chase cam than anything else. But that's about it. Mind you, they're both pretty similar in their style and you can buy an XKR as a drop-head anyway.

This then, is one of the cars in this game that bases itself more over style than speed. If I'm honest, every Alfa pretty much does that...this is your average classic for this game. And that's good. I like my classic cars. They're all pretty much good. :)

Being the fact that the GTbyCitroen road is MR, safe to say the race car is also MR?
Also, being that the Furai is based on an LMP Chassis and most the weight is in the back, also safe to presume its MR? :lol:

As far as I know the Furai is MR, I'd assume the GTbyCitroën is as well.

I'm sure that most people will want to know how my kind of style of coolness goes. And I'm showing it here. Hope you somewhat agree, although you probably don't.

As a note though, this is not just limited to cars from GT5. Seeing as this is a place where I don't just limit myself to the confines of GT5, I'm gonna do so here. There will be cars on this wall that I will mainly want in this game, although there will be some I'll just put on.

Anyway, since I'm not starting off with such a small amount of cars on the wall here, I'm doing a ton of preset cars to put on the wall to start with. These will eventually get added with other cars as I release reviews every week.

This will also more than likely stop once I hit 200 cars (if that happens) as that is the limit of images you can put on the posts of this site (as Jordan kindly told me before).

The FTO LM's "son" and possibly the best car in GT5. Is it 'the' best? Maybe. I haven't tried all 1089 yet, we don't know for sure

Honda S2000 LM Race Car
Mainly GT3 for owning the modern day S2k Turbo, but still a cool cat today with the speed it can offer at its level

BMW M Coupe
Sexy and awesome. The best looking thing BMW has offered. Only things that are as cool as this from BMW are M635CSi, Isetta and Z1

Alfa Giulia TZ2
Not for the looks, but the sheer drive and grunt of it. Classic 'grumpy old man' style, car, knows it all, but has aged well among competitors

Honda HSV-010 GT
Won the Super GT on its first outing and shouts like nothing else I know. PD, put this thing in. NOW

Mazda Furai
Looks wonderful and is a 787B for today

Citroen GT Race Car
Has several good looking features and is ridiculously fast. Onboard view marks it down a little but not enough to keep this out of the frost zone

No, this is not an ordinary RX-7 LM. This has a completely different colour scheme style, with white at the top and black at the bottom, has a number of 00 and still kicks ass. Don't diss this thing, you'll just be eaten instead

How is dominating gt1 a bad thing? If you watched it, it was allways a hotly contested crown. Gt1 had lots of variety, shame gt1 has been replaced with gt3.
 
@C-Zeta your missing the greatest car in GT5 and ultimate one for the Hotpoint Subzero category...the "Daihatsu Cuore/Mira TR-XX Avanzato R!:crazy::cool::bowdown::gtpflag:

You just don't get any cooler than a microbox that actually has one of the best sounding engines in GT5 and that can dust cars costing many times what it does.:D:cheers:
 
A Tale of Two Lightweights

This is Elise. She's a simple girl, not too fussed by much, although she can get a bit lairy when tempted too much. She is also very adorable, and as a result of this, she's in contact with many of the boys around the area.

However, a new kid on the block had arrived in London...

This was Tommy. He might have looked small, but god did he pack a punch. As part of the rugby team, due to his light weight and small size, but sheer speed, he was the winger. From Japan, where he had previously played football a lot, he was a top guy down the wings there too. And usually not very good at headers.

Then, one day, as Elise turned off Regent Street...

Let's start with Elise, then.

She's not particularly powerful, a lot less powerful than Tommy and rather a bit slower in general. Not to say she's a slowcoach exactly, because she ain't. And like has been said, she can still slide a decent bit too. In fact, she might as well slide a little more than Tommy.

And of course, as I said before, she has got great, cute looking looks. Much better than she evolves to be at least, not to discount from them, but Elise, to start off with, was quite adorable. Not sure if that's quite what was meant from her but it's worked and it's worked well.

And if we now take a look at Tommy...

...well, let's say he's quite a bit faster than Elise. As would be expected of what is like a winger-like thing if it played rugby. He seems a little more stable though, which is impressive given how fast he is and the competition he faces.

He also looks quite good too. But if you see the lump in the back, where the midship engine lies, you can tell he's got a secret under the pocket. That being the combination of the engine and the very low weight he has - you won't get much lighter in this game to be honest.

...all seemed very well. But a problem was to emerge. You see, Tommy's dad owned a company...but it was going bust here. As a result of this, his father felt the need to move to Japan to try some business there. And with that...Tommy was gone with the wind.

Let's start with the all new Elise.

She is now even more slidey than previously. Not that the picture never told you that of course - that slide in fact, when correcting resulted in a huge slam to the wall. Though she was still facing the right way after impact. Yeah, she's wild.

And she looks far more aggressive than before. She's even grown a big pair of...headlamps. :lol: But it supports her much faster speed now, and her much faster speed is very noticeable. Her speed is now brutal, with a 192hp unit now, a 72hp increase from before. Which is a decent amount.

Especially if she weighs just 860kg. Which is 105 more than before, but hey, it's 'evolution'.

And then there's Tommy, who's undergone a decent name change at this time. (Tommy Kaira was bought out by Autobacs in '01)

You'll be amazed at how he works now though. Instead of being a lethal brawler like Elise, Tommy (Garaiya now to be precise) is actually very stable. Which is strange when you see he's got more power and less weight than Elise. How does that work...

Either way, he does eventually get slides, but they're not particularly big ones and even still you don't feel like you want to do them, so you find yourself balancing the throttle to avoid them - because at first, the stability seems like second nature for the car, and really, sliding ruins that nature.

So then, what's up with these two now? Well, let's start with Elise again.

Yes, I know, it's my own tune. So? It's the only Elise 111R RM I have, and it still is one.

Thing is though, Elise is not quite as slidey as before, with the turbo she now has limiting it to high RPM ranges, but when she does slide, she is a smoke grenade of a car. Everywhere you look afterwards, it's just smoke. It's like an explosion. Tyres fear this thing.

The looks haven't changed much with the RM though. Apart from a wing, a decal and a new wheel on the interior, this is very much the same as before for looks. That means the same headlamps! Heh. :mischievous:

Then we have Tommy, who is still a Garaiya, yes. I could have had a ZZII but this is a closer relation.

Tommy is still more powerful, but a lot heavier now. He still doesn't slide a lot though either, though that would be down to the downforce he now has. The looks have changed wildly on him though and now he looks full-on striking, where as smart and curvy like previously.

He can get some slides, but you do need to have a sharp corner and the only one that was sharp enough on Fuji was the sharp double hairpin before the section that everyone hates for whatever reason. :irked: Unfortunately, regulations this year mean the Garaiya is being removed from Super GT, which is sad. It was always a top contender there, with 3rd in '05, 2nd in '08 (the year of this car) and 2nd again in '10. I'll miss it.

And so that concludes A Tale of Two Lightweights. Both of these series of cars are excellent, and there's far more to the Elise series for sure. These were the most significant additions to them, but either way most of them fit the bill for this. The Sport 190 was probably a far, far better match against the ZZ-S but I didn't feel like searching. :lol: Thank you for reading, good night.
