Do you ever drink and drive?

I only have non-alcoholic drinks while playing GT5. This reminds of the one time when I got a ride home after a work Christmas party. I wasn't wasted, but drunk enough to feel the effects. I was riding shotgun and pretended to be the driver and tried to modulate the gas and brake pedals. My reaction time got delayed by about 1-2 seconds and I would've ran quite a few red lights and probably get into an accident if I was driving. After that, I vowed never to touch a drop of alcohol before driving, real life or virtual.

On a side note, there's zero tolerance for D&D in Japan. If you get caught with even 0.01% in your breath, you will go to jail or if you're an expat like me, get deported and never allowed back in the country again.

+1 this :sly:

although if i do have the alcohol right there, i might take a swig to get myself in the zone if im struggling. mostly i just rip a bowl every race or so.

i'd much rather just rip bowls all night, drinking isn't really my thing.

Had a couple of beers once and played, it wasn't anything special so I elected not to do it again.

If you're talking about real driving, then you should not do it because you might hit a bump and spill your drink.

P.S. My PS3 is in the bedroom, so no drinking in there.

Jack+Coke... or just Jack neat ;) when im not doing anything too serious in the game. Otherwise some Optimator's and various stein beers. I do have to say that after a cpl drinks in my lap times do improve, depending in the track it can be a decent amount. I always find it interesting on the nights I get to the point of diminishing returns and then finding just how impared your driving really does get after that. It truly is amazing.

Always end up watching replays through my patio door while having a cigarette once an your or so (more when drinking of course). No "greens" for me.

The bigger thing I need to remember (since D&D IRL is a no brainer to not do) is to not drink and post!

I know this is pointed at playing the game while enjoying a few at home. Real life, its too dangerous and costly. With that said, many people think they know their limit and drive thinking theyre ok. Next time your at home playing GT5,and having a couple drinks, save all your replays as the night progresses, then watch them the next day. You will surely see how quickly it starts to affect you, and see that even when you thought you were still ok to drive, you shouldnt. At home, in game; no harm, no foul. In a real car, in real life; dont risk your life or someone elses life. Have fun and be safe.

I think it does affect your driving, not sure to what extent but llNovall definitely has a good point, I race very poorly on GT5 or any other racing game while I'm having a few but at the same time I find that drinking+FPS games do work for me, my K/R ratios for FPS games improve drastically but driving/racing games I do a lot poorer compared to when not drinking. They should probably do some scientific experiment with GT5 and drink driving studies to validate this point.

I have in the past, yes, I am guilty as charged, however, I'd rather be a passenger behind a blind drunk dying man, than ever to lend my life to kids who pull out their phones to look at them while driving. Both are terribly wrong, and one isn't more right than the other, but, eyes off the road, no matter how impaired, is absolutely detrimental to your time and space, and all those involved.

I've said this before, but if any of my family tree is ever to be injured by a cell phone incident, I vow to bury them alive in a heap of discarded Apple iPhones. fortunately for them, there aren't that many discarded ones around.

I do however, play GT5 nightly, with a single glass of beer as my daily elixir.

Pointless thread is pointless.
And has a very misleading title.
I dont know what "Toss off" means but going by your answer the guys probably right 👎 As one of the moderators once told a guy that answered a question in the manner you did "If you dont have anything worthwhile to say, keep your hands off the keyboard. You would do well to take that information on board next time before you make yourself look petty, As for the question i dont drink dude but enjoy having a cup of tea and a funny cigarette while playing GT5 👍

Im sure this will get me few friends here but it seems many that are SO adamant about nit drinking and driving would have no problem with "smoking" and driving.

I have yet to see a PSA about that here...

Nope I dont do drugs. Which you call funny cigarete. Also stop drinking some time ago. So not for me. But I understNd some people just like this state of mind:)

agreed, to each his own, right? and as long as we're safe at home and not out putting anyone in real danger, i'm all for it.

Mike's hard lemonade and I'm .8 faster than my best previous effort (30+ laps) at this weeks challenge (XKR/Trial Mountain) after only four laps.

Seriously though, IRL = stupid. Nuff said.

(If you drink Capri Sun while driving a Prius, would you be Ca Prius'n'ing?)

I can't focus when I do. Hell I lost my lunch last weekend, infact it was the longest I've been on in weeks. Lol

I know it's not the same but I just IMPROVED my all time best in a 328 at Road America (NFS S2) by 2sec after a decent amount of J+C lmao

Still fits with the conversation here... right?

Had a funny sig the day before yesterday (didn't have one in a long time), and i was into the game like you can't imagine. Really enhances the experience and made me drive a lot smoother and a little more careful (because of the paranoia effect probably).

Then again funny sigs enhance all experiences don't they...

Yes. Always. Which gets me pretty hammered whenever I'm trying to gold a difficult event, since I tend to have a sip every time I hit restart.

Haha, I've been here before  that 5 or so seconds between hitting the restart button and getting control of the car is just enough time.

i hit up a few bowls or a joint much more then i have the odd drink
i dont always drink beer, but when i do, i prefer dos equis...... haha no
usually something like a rum and coke or straight Jack Daniels

Yes, completed the recent TT on those slippery hards after a couple of drinks. It would be interesting to see how many it takes before the laptimes go off.

Does a bottle of Orange Juice on the Mulsanne or in the pits during an enduro count? :dopey:
