Yep, because I, as usual, was disconnected.

Part of the problem is that my PS3 is getting terrible signal strength from my router. I've got it set up now to be consistently above 95%, but I can't guarantee I won't get disconnected again.

I'm probably going to be frustrated again tonight. If this doesn't work out, I'm going out and buying a new router as soon as I can.

EDIT: And that time I was disconnected before I got into the lounge. It's not 10PM yet. Anyone want to give some last minute advice in the hopes that maybe I can get this figured out?

Is there anyway you can connect the ps3 to router with ethernet cable? Also, make sure UPnP is enabled on your router if it has that capability.

I don't think I'll be able to bring a cable all the way from upstairs to downstairs. Maybe I'll move my router and modem downstairs at some point.

And uPnP is definitely enabled.

Without knowing too much about your hardware I would say wireless is the issue. The router could be failing too but I would try it hardwired first before spending money.

Hey, if any of you michigan living snails are interested, got a group going disc golfing at black locust/kensington probably around 2is. Be cool to compete in something other then racing.

Aww no fair, Kensington is awesome. At 9am I was discing in the mosquito nest known as River Bends park.

I look forward to tonight's races.

esh
That upstream looks far less than desirable. I would say 5 mbit up would be the lowest threshold.

Also, he's in Canada. There are bound to be issues. In fact, he's the only one in D2 right now and I can't get in.

Hmm.. good point.

Joe, could you re-run speedtest.net from a wired computer since your PS3 is wired?

True, but geographically he's closer to a lot of you than I am here in Texas. I think Oshawa is close to the border with the US.

Don't miss the last part of that which you quoted, zer0

nm. actually having the same problem with D3 lounge. sigh

Do either of you have a Discaroo account? If so, let's do some tradin'!

It's the border crossing that'll kill ya. Flora, fauna and all that.

Got in after a reset. whew.

It seems I've figured out my connection issues, at least for now. I had already set my PS3 DNS servers to the free google ones, but I decided to do the same for my router itself. The router tried to convince me I don't need to set them to anything in particular but apparently comcast's servers are terrible, at least on Sundays.

I've been connected to the room for 45 minutes now, so hopefully everything goes smoothly and I can compete for the first time.

Well, I finished four out of six races. That's four more than last week.

I'm going to try to get a new router this week, and hopefully with a constant 100% signal strength I'll have no more connection issues. If all else fails I may figure out a way to make a wired connection.

I've played River bends before. Not to bad of a place. We actually played Hudson Mills. They've got a great course too, with a 1038 footer! Alas, I lost my Groove today. Really upset by this, I love that disc, threw my first ace with it at Kensington last season.

Just an idea but if you use cable for your ISP, you might look into a MoCA solution for a hard wire to your PS3. MoCA is Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance and in short, you can use your existing coax to pass data like an ethernet cable. The advantage is that coax is already wired and you don't have to try to run CAT5 from your router to your PS3...

And on another note, how do you recover from an absolutely horrible night of racing? Don't get me wrong... It was actually a great race night, it was just that my performance was less than stellar. I blame it on almost 3 weeks out of the loop and some other distracting issues but I am just so bummed that I had such a bad night. In retrospect, I guess if this was just a mediocre, run of the mill league I guess it wouldn't be such a big deal but the standards in which this group adheres to really makes it harder to swallow such a bad night. Bummed as I am, I can't wait until next week! Redemption shall be mine!!!

Yeah, Canada isn't the North Pole dude. I'm well below the tundra line.

I have hosted 50 lap races with people from South America, UK, Germany, and USA all at the same time without any lag issues.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Gran Turismo PDI Racing Kart 100 @Autumn Ring Mini
Therefore it has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since M1SS-D3V10US selected Prize A, she gets to decide which car and track will replace it.

The round that received the second most votes was:
Round 3 - Ferrari F430 '06 @Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
Therefore, either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since GTP_esh selected Prize B, he gets to decide which is replaced and what replaces it.

Mighty_mopar gets the upgraded Prize C, so he gets any gift car ticket listed here.

May e I am a bit foggy, but it looks like round 3 had the second highest vote total. I will look again after more coffee.

{I caught it. I didn't count the D1podium winners votes. Dooh!}

Great racing and sportsmanship in the D3 last night.

You bring up a good point, Handlebar. Perhaps I shouldn't announce the results of the elimination vote without first knowing whose votes will be counting for sure. I'll think it's better to wait until the results are official before doing that (at least when the voting is this close).

Sorry i had to leave early last night. I had my girlfriend screaming her head off because i little pomeranian was throwing up his guts and we recently lost a puppy to similar symptoms. He's good now though. Hopefully i will finally find sometime this week to join some of the weekday sessions.
