In theory you can use an account that hasn't done 8-5 yet and run a 10 minute lap so you get placed at the bottom of the list, then see what position you're in.

I just ran on a 2nd account an initial lap of 2:05 and was ranked 15,700 in the U.S. A second lap of 2:02 yielded a rank of 15,701. All regions it ranks 144,659. 1:39.851 with bronze requirement of 1:40 yields a rank of 13,951 regional and 132,706 world wide.

Cheers guys.... Don't think I stand a chance anyway , can't find the time to have a propper go .
Would be nice to know total regional players though to get an idea of how poop I am

Like g2010ag did above, I gave this a try last night.

I started a new profile and ran at least bronze trophy's thru all the GTA challenges up to 8-5, and then ran Motegi.

I ran a 9.31.887 lap at Motegi (I guess I need more practice!)

My worldwide rank was 145,588

My US rank was 15,952

I guess there are 929 drivers in the world that have lapped Motegi with a time somewhere between 2 minutes and 9 minutes!

Wait, can you do some maths with the medal rankings (GTA main menu)?

That's the list of all accumulated golds for a nation. They also show the average statistic, which I guess is the average numbers of golds each player in that country has.

So if you reverse it: divide your nation's total gold by the average, you should get an answer in 'players'. This would be the number of GTA registrations/downloads from the very start. It's not the amount of people who get all the way to TWR, but it should be another good gauge of demographics.
