After tomorrow's race, if anyone is available, there will be a group free run test session... not fussed about track tbh, as long as it's not Deep Forest, Indianapolis, Grand Valley East or Autumn Ring.

I don't think we should race this time, as killa has pointed out it's not really beneficial at this stage.

Looking at the times I think the Lexus and Peugeot should go... which would leave 13 cars left.

Cars to choose from:

Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02
Audi S3 '02
Audi S4 '03
BMW 330i '05
Ford Focus ST '06
Honda Civic Type R '08
Mazda Atenza Sport 25Z '07
Nissan PRIMERA 20V (EU) ’01
Opel Vectra 3.2 V6 '03
Renault Clio Renault Sport '02
Seat Ibiza Cupra '04
Volvo S60 T-5 Sport ’03
VW Golf V GTI '05

Please stick to this list!!!!

Feel free to set-up cars however you like, so long as they meet the regulations. Whatever allows you to go as fast as possible.

Drive as many cars from the list as you like.

If you're attending please note your fastest lap times for each car and post them in this thread, so they can be added to the spreadsheet.

Hopefully we can settle the Audi question...

I've made the overall/average times much easier on the eye, and I have also updated to remove the Lexus and Peugeot... Vectra still in for now, but probably not for much longer!

I'm gonna run at Cape Ring Inside. Results:

Code:
[SIZE="3"][B]Cape Ring Inside (5 Laps)[/B]

1. Ford Focus - 55.993
2. Mazda Atenza - 56.046
3. BMW 330i - 56.074
4. Renault Clio - 56.113
5. Honda Civic Type R - 56.197
6. Audi S4 - 56.209
7. Seat Ibiza - 56.213
8. VW Golf - 56.342
9. Audi S3 - 56.519
10. Volvo S60 - 56.545
11. Alfa 147 GTA - 56.549
12. Nissan Primera - 57.286
13. Opel Vectra - 57.316[/SIZE]

Nissan was again horrible to drive around here... Cape Ring Inside means a lot of understeer.

If everyone agrees, I think it's time the Vectra was removed from the running?

Also, I'm beginning to think that the Primera is going to struggle to make the cut too. It's just too poor; feels heavy to drive, even worse than the Vectra.

---------------

Also to let you know, skengdigi is doing HSR and SSR5. :)

Cool thankyou,
I unfortuantly agree :guilty: Love the car, but not for how fast it is in the game :(

Good to know Skengdigi is getting some miles down :D

In that case, could the car list in OP be updated to this? Cheers :)

Also, now seems a good time to make the weekly announcement of a possible free run session after Friday's racing.

Do you have to run test laps with stock setup? Me and SkengD are testing at Indy and we are unsure

Right folks, with the end of Season 2 now only a fortnight away, I think it's time some decisions were made regarding the Season 3 cars.

Quite simply, I think the easiest way to do this is to have a vote. There are currently 12 cars left in contention, of which 3 are definitely guaranteed a place. These cars are:

  • BMW 330i
  • Honda Civic Type R '08
  • Ford Focus ST '06
  • Audi ... ?? (see below)
You may be wondering why I haven't put the Audi S3 '02 in that list, and that is because the Audi S4 '03 has been run in testing and also appears to be as quick as the field. I feel the S4 is a lot closer to both the old BTCC A4 from the 90s and the A4 used today (i.e. it's more true to life/accurate). There is, however, the potential that the S4 may actually be a bit too fast when it's properly set-up and run. Only one car per manufacturer is allowed in Season 3, so in the vote you're going to have to pick one of the Audis. Simple choice: keep the status quo or vote in the S4. If the S3 earns more votes than the S4 it will be confirmed for Season 3 automatically.

As you know, testing has been fully completed at four of the tracks from the Season 2 calendar, so we have a rough idea of how fast the cars are. Reminder of the average times:

btccs3testing2808.png

---------------

Since three cars are already confirmed, and the Opel Vectra is no longer in the running (see posts above), there will be 9 cars in the vote. They are:

  • Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02
  • Audi S3 '02
  • Audi S4 '03
  • Mazda Atenza Sport 25Z '07
  • Nissan Primera 20V / 20V (EU) '01
  • Renault Clio Renaultsport '02
  • Seat Ibiza Cupra '04
  • Volvo S60 T-5 Sport '03
  • VW Golf V GTI '05
Please vote for your 4 most preferred cars from this list, using the 'List' function.

Voting will close on Friday 14th September at 4pm BST.

The five cars with the most votes will earn a place in Season 3, so GET VOTING NOW!
(If the Audi S3 earns more votes than the S4, then only the top four cars from the vote will be admitted).

@Joe - the S4 is 4WD so will be 1400kg. I suppose though if it proves too fast there could always be more added - perhaps to 1450/1500. When it's stock it's 1660 I think.

----

I suppose guys if the Audi S3 doesn't make it through, we could take the top 5 from the vote and have 8 cars in S3. There's certainly room for it. I've updated the vote post to reflect this - wrote it quite late last night so wasn't firing on all cylinders, lol :sly:

In which case, leading now is the VW Golf, Audi S4, SEAT Ibiza, Mazda Atenza and Renault Clio.

Incidentally if there's a tie between votes, I guess we'll have a "vote-off" between them, lol :sly:
