The PURE Clio Cup series is a spec series using the RenaultSport Clio 2.0 16V. The first race will be a sprint race requiring no stops, the second race will be a longer reverse grid race with 1 mandatory stop required. The series is run on a Wednesday, late night UTC. (Time is up for vote in the poll above) This series is open to all so feel free to join if you can 👍.

GTP OLR rules will apply.

The specs for the car are 208bhp @88.6% PL, 1000kgs w/120kgs ballast and 431PP using the allowed mods, use of illegal mods will result in disqualification of that round. All aids are turned off. (Including ABS but is up for debate) The tyres that will be used are racing hard tyres.

I can run the room on a Wednesday and race start from 5pm UTC to 8:30pm UTC. The time can be suject to a vote to fit as many drivers as possible. From room open time to the end of race 2 the duration would be around 2.5 hours. For e.g I will use 5:30pm UTC race start as an example: 4:30-4:50pm UTC room opens; 5:05pm UTC I reset room for a 15-20min qualifing session; 5:20-5:25pm UTC qualifing ends; 5:25-5:30pm UTC I reset room for race and call out order, then drivers line up and I start race. The first race is roughly 30-35 mins. So lets say we finish around 6:05pm UTC I will allow 5 mins for a break to smoke or toilet etc. Then I will set the room for reverse grid order, call everyone to pits and start the race at 6:10-6:15pm UTC. The second race will last just over an hour roughly so will finish around 7:15pm UTC.

That means the room will last around just over 2 hours from qualifing to the end of race 2.

Qualifing and race start proceedure:

The qualifing proceedure is a pre race qualifing session of 15-20 minutes. (Considering collisions off to negate unfair advantages gained through bumpdrafting/drafting)
After the qualifing session is over I will record times and reset the track.
I will then call out drivers in qualifing order, Who will then line up on track.
Once lined up correctly I will start the race. Should the grid be wrong speak up and we will retry a maximum of 2 times, no more.
If a driver DCs after qualifing we will also wait a maximum of 10 minutes for them to rejoin. Same rule applys to if a driver DCs on race start. (Black screen etc)

Penalties:

All penalties listed are only a guide for PURE stewards to utilize in reprimanding championship drivers. The penalty grades are only suggested as a base line, the extent of the penalties in result is at the full discretion of series stewards. The penalties are scaleable according to race distance and any or all penalties are stackable for a total penalty value.

The focus of this penalty set is to encourage good sportsmanship behavior on track. It gives the opportunity to the drivers that commit the offences to "right their wrongs" during a race in order to reach compromise instantly and avoid the necessity of review and deliberation. Simply waiting for the driver you faulted to reclaim their position relative to you before an incident shall suffice in correcting the mistake, most of the time.

Incident Penalty Outline (IPO)
  • Using an illegal car specification - Disqualification
  • Over-stepping more than two tires past pre-defined track boundaries without letting off the throttle on re-joining track more than three times during a race - 15 seconds
  • Disregarding pre-defined 'hard' boundaries such as pit lane entry and exit markings - 5 seconds
  • False race start/Jump start - 10 seconds
  • Avoidable contact resulting in lost time and not yielding position back to victim * - 25 seconds
  • Avoidable contact resulting in damage - 20 seconds
  • Illegal blocking/blue flag rule/forcing drivers off track** - 15 seconds
  • Not yielding position(s) gained through course cutting - 25 seconds
  • Rejoining track from out of bounds resulting in blocking race traffic - 10 seconds
  • Sustained aggressive driving during race *** - First detailed warning
  • Committing any offense while under probation Championship disqualification
*The rule for yielding positions is that you must wait for the car you affected to rejoin or otherwise reorient themselves into the race on track no matter how long it takes for them to do so. Once they are on an effective course either to continue the race or make their way to pit lane for repairs you are allowed to overtake normally as per OLR rules.
**Blue flag rules state that lapped drivers, in the same class, must do their best to allow the leaders an unobstructed racing line. If the lapping car approaches the back-marker during mid-corner or if in a group of multiple back-markers then they must be treated the same as in a mixed class race with said driver(s) being the lower class - this means the lapping driver must follow basic multi-class racing etiquette, allow the drivers to hold regular lines and overtake at the safest following opportunity.
*** Being warned the second time will incur a championship points penalty of a value equal to 7th place position in the championship. A third warning will put the driver in probation therein by committing any subsequent offence will cause them disqualification from the championship.

Looks great Paul, only thing is Wednesdays are the only days I can 100% not make it, if you decide to switch days I am in, I will keep an eye on this.

Nice work Paul, pretty sure you'll have full grids with this car, good luck with the series 👍

I'm definitely able to race Paul. Lots of fun to be had in this little wagon.

New tyre wear allows some nice long no stop races but if the first race is too long for some to not stop I can trim them down a bit. Also as you can see as of now I only have some race laps decided, I will try get the others updated asap.

The tracks with ?s beside them are possible tracks but I'm not 100% on. Any other track people think may suit these little Clios feel free to suggest them 👍.

I also put a multiple choice poll up pick every time you can make it and I will use the most popular 👍. (You can pick all 8 if they all fit)

Hopefully someone at PURE can help me make some nice logos for the finished thread too .

I had planned to make a debate between Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday but TOCA legends is on at the same time (Roughly) on a Tuesday. Also a few guys wanted Wednesday so I thought I should just keep Wednesday and hope others could make it too.. Sorry man :indiff:.

Inside is not as good imo as South, Inside really only has 1 spot to pass T1 the last sort of chicane bits are possible but very marginal. South has loads of room to pass and is a more fun layout.

Put me down as a reserve Paul 👍. Im not commitng to every race would be unfair on yourself so put me down as reserve please :)

Put me down as:
DK / driftking18594 / Red / Black

Oh and Paul, mention that it's a Wednesday late night UTC series open to all in the OP.

No worries man, good luck. 👍

Thanks Wardez added that into the first paragraph 👍.

I'm a noob at this making threads thing, wheres the edit title button :dopey:.

Just edit the op, then go to "Go Advanced," then you can edit the title.

Thanks again Wardez 👍, is that any better? :)

If you need to just tell me what to put up there .

Would anyone be interested in organising a little practice for a quick few 5 lap races and maybe some formation style 1 lappers? (By formation I mean we could cruise round a track each taking point every so often) So I or others like Wardez can get some pictures to edit into banners etc for the series.

Once I get that and the OP finished I will move this thread to racing series and get some dates going 👍. Hopefully will get more people to join too :P.

We got a message through the other day that our footy training been moved to a wednesday night at 6 till 7:30 :(. I don't get home till about 8 now. I would be up for a later start. Either that or I just compete in race 2 and occasionally do race 1 (I can bunk a few trainings :) )

7:30 UTC is 8:30pm BST, there are 4 votes for that and 7 UTC. If Josh and Wardez are ok to do 30 mins later you can join in time for Q which would be 8:10pm BST.

Though when our clocks go back we will be on 7:30...

Also just did a tyre run of GP/D and found 18 laps to fit my 30 mins limit for the sprint race and tyres had pleanty to spare.

Either that or you could sign up and just do race 2s :).

Okay, put me down for that time, I just realised I voted for 8:30 UTC, and I meant 7:30 :(. Im a fool :dunce:

UTC is currently 1 hour behind our time but in the next few weeks will be our time :P.

Did another tyre run this time at Laguna again tyres last with pleanty to spare even with my sliding and spinning . (Wrong setup for Laguna)

So final laps for GP/D and Laguna are sorted 👍.

Edit: So will I put you down as Blue / Orange Gokart ;)?
