I checked a bit ago and it's still not up even though it's after midnight here.

Just to be random, I think we should start a rumor that there are going to be Twisted Metal weapon add-ons for NASCAR races or some crap like that.

Ummm how about no.

King Kong likes to wear an invisibility cloak and heave cars at you on the backstretch at Daytona. Well, at least he used to in GT5p. Some called it "lag". I beg to differ.

PS4 graphics?

Pre-rendered graphics using the GT5 game engine like has been said, so that Anti-Aliasing etc is far better than what can be ran in real time on the PS3. There are also just added video effects, you can re-create most of them and achieve this sort of look if you have video editing software, you just need to play around with the colours, saturation, lighting and gamma etc.

I have a video in my signature that shows how you can change the look of the game. The game looks pretty real with a few adjustments.

I highly doubt that PD is hiding another track from us, but I can't recognize this track. It doesn't quite match anything in GT5 according to my memory. Does anyone recognize this track?

I'm pretty sure that's the Nurbugring Grand Prix Circuit. 👍

Sorry if this sounds completely stupid, but this just occured to me after doing some driving on GT5 and I recalled seeing some people talk about this so I'd thought I share it:

Now many have noted that some cars in GT5 are abit optimistic with their Speedometer numbers going up higher then the game's. For instance, this is noticable in the Lamborghini Aventador. Well after trying to do that out glitch at SSRX some time ago and forgetting to set the option back from Km to Miles, I did a few laps in said Lambo and thats when it hit me: This car and many others have their Speedometers modelled in Km and not the Mph setting thats default in the game. Once you change the Distance set to Km, it'll match those cars.

Again sorry if thats illrelevent, just something I thought I'd share for those that were long confused about that.

Can't deny it's a bit stupid :D but don't feel bad, a while ago I claimed my cars had a larger amount of horsepower than some posted here, which I thought was due to being broken in and performing frequent oilchanges when it suddenly hit me that my figures were in HP instead of BHP.

PS4 graphics?

It is the same engine and it is GT5, but in the PS3 the game uses low quality settings for some textures (that eats a lot of memory which the PS3 doesn´t have), mostly for the layout of the tracks, but when you go to photo-mode the track looks way better.
Also if that track is new it probably has better and different textures than other tracks...(not all tracks uses the same textures) so it is using the same engine for GT5 and GT6 but with textures in high quality and one made for that specific track.

It looks how I expect it to look in GT6.

If you own a PC and games, you can play with the settings and see what I am talking about. On consoles settings are pre-defined that´s why the game looks like it is. But all games can look better. (as any multi-platform game on PC compared to the same on consoles)

P.S to myself: Why I always go out of topic instead of make a simple sentence?...:dopey:

Those are probably the in-game, GT5 textures. They just look extra sharp because of the contrast added and the colour-balance seems to make the specular look better.

There are already tracks in the game with comparable detail, except that when you look closely, you can see how it's achieved (which is quite clever) - I think Daytona is an example where this can be seen well, and Motegi shows the effect by using two vastly different tarmac textures on the speedway vs the full course.

The curbs are just very well (aesthetically) textured, the detail isn't actually that special there - depth of field and motion blur helping out, I suspect. Compare GT5:P's Fuji to GT5's for another example of the kind of things PD's artists can do.

Now we have the C7, how long do we think it'll take to get the NSX?

The new video shows a lot more detail than the previous one at Route X. That one didn't even have an interior.

Part of me thinks that PD are trying to program in the independant wheel technology shown in the video. That can't be easy.

I'm not expecting the tracks any time soon though. If we keep our expectations low, we won't be disappointed.

I believe the NSX will be made available sometime after Iron Man 3 premieres in theaters around the world. I think that movie might have first rights to showing the car to the mass public, aside from car shows and the trailers PD has made.

Probably after May.

As much as I'm glad to see the 2014 Corvette, I also want to see the 2013 SRT Viper show up in GT5 eventually. Thar's unless Forza has a vise grip on licensing for the new Viper like EA has with Porsche.

As for the comment regarding Fujimi Kaido, part of me doesn't really think GT believes in touge. It's really sad there's no sort of touge course in the GT realm. I think GT needs more open circuits to begin with- not just the randomized rally courses Pikes Peak would be somewhat new for GT even though we all raced it in GT2. It would be new today because (for what I know) Pikes Peak is now fully tarmac as opposed to a mix of tarmac and dirt as in the past. Even better would be to see some of the recent beasts that have taken on the newer Pikes Peak Hill Climb, such as the RMR PM580 and the Monster Sport e-Runner Pikes Peak Special. Of course, there's that Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak as well as the forgotten Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak from GT2.

My final note is on Willow Springs. You may be familiar with Willow Springs if you have played the Shift series. The track can be a real meat grinder, especially some of the shorter configurations I remember racing in Shift. Most unique about Willow Springs is that sweeping long corner that almost feels like an oval or the final corner of Tsukuba. It's a great track.

I was going to say it could have possibly been the long left hander from Apricot Hill, in the middle of the circuit, since we're all seeing it in the new trailer. But after another look I'd have to agree with you on the Nurburgring.

sure looks like it....any idea what part of the track?

So out of sheer boredom today, I decided to open up and thumb through my GT5 Collectors edition "Driver's Manual". I don't know if it's any different from the normal release manuals, or any other manual's that have been released in copies since.

Anyways, I got to the Online Features section and turned the page to read about "Matchmaking" before I realized that it was describing a feature that was not in the game.

Considering there is a separate entry for Open Lobby's as well as the "My Lounge" area, there was no confusion that they were describing a GT5:P style of online play. To those of you who were not playing GT5 from the beginning, I'd like to point out that the Open Lobby's did not award credits initially, so the picture above is definitely describing a feature that was not included.

A quick look on Google brought up an article quoting Yamauchi-san about Matchmaking coming to the game eventually. (Click)

Meanwhile Kazunori Yamauchi said further improvements would be coming to Gran Turismo 5. "Online updates are planned of course for leaderboards and matchmaking." Yamauchi said at the game's launch in Madrid (attended by Eurogamer), "[they're] all planned in the process of evolution."

But we can all see that never happened. I think the initial online problems might have caused them to re-consider it's scheduled release... and then it got buried under other updates and refinements, and most likely shelved for GT5 altogether.

There was also a shot of a driver wearing a Subaru-branded Racing suit and Helmet, which if I'm not mistaken, is what your driver looks like when you race arcade events. Just a reminder that PD has all of those suits and helmets floating around purely for the barely-used Arcade. Maybe we'll see more of them in GT6, too?

Interesting post, and all this stuff we're still waiting for niggles at me from time to time, too. However, "never" is probably a bit too strong - we're still getting updates, and although the window is slowly closing, there's still a possibility it'll appear eventually.

Those branded race suits were in GT5:P, and I think they're used in arcade mode for the AI, too. Maybe they had a change of heart on that idea, and decided to do a sort of TT-like "gear" collection, just without any real flexibility initially.

He said "that never happened", and not "that will never happen".
Meaning that at the momment it wasn't added to the game yet, but who knows what PD's going to add in the future...
