As for the episode:

I'm with Logan. Much of the episode was enjoyable simply because Discord was being, well, Discord. Then by the last 3 minutes of the episode, he has a sudden and quite abrupt change of heart after he realised that Fluttershy was his only friend, and that doing whatever he wanted would mean losing his only friend.

Now I can get that in that situation, someone would most often have a change of heart. But how they did it with Discord seemed like such a long shot. I know what the message it was trying to get across was, but it wasn't executed nearly as well as I would have liked.

Also, I think we'll only see him again on the odd occasion. More often than Tank at least.

What happens if Discord befriends someone else who is totally cool with him ruling the world with chaos? He stopped when he realized Fluttershy was the only friend he'd ever had, and he was going to lose her if he kept acting the way he was.

What if Chrysalis finds out about all of this and befriends him, then she can rule beside him and they'll go totally unopposed entirely because Fluttershy promised to never use her element.

They can only ride on Discord wanting Fluttershy's friendship for so long. She gave up their only line of defense entirely on a hunch, and one that isn't a permanent solution no matter how you look at it.

I don't think they'd stand for it would they? The Elements are at their disposal now too, and if Fluttershy still thought it was a good idea to have him going on his merry way with a newly befriended antagonist without stopping them, then she needs to wise the hell up.
 
Discord will probably appear as much as Luna does now. The only reason they brought him back is because the fans loved him so much. I wouldn't doubt we'll see an episode with Chrysalis in it during Season 4. Now King Sombre might be a once & gone deal because of the way they had him go out but then again the way he went out... that horn.... 💡

The idea of Flutters refusing to take action against Discord even if he turned full blown evulz again because she promised would be kinda pushing it a bit as far as her being in character, I think.
 
Great Episode! I do love how they "ponyized" Q. That's essentially what Discord is. He's Q in Pony form. And I'm glad John DeLancy returned for the voice. And this is the first time we've seen Fluttershy honestly and truly angry.

I seem to have been bitten by the MLP bug too. I kept noticing this thread pop up in latest posts, so I thought I would check it out. Suffice to say, I got hooked, and blitzed through all the episodes in about three weeks. It is a good show indeed. Though I haven't moved onto the fan art stage yet, I'm sort of in that middle ground, of indecision :lol:

The episode was a bit meh, especially after seeing that Spongebob comic before watching it.

Now... Episode stuffs...

I honestly thought that the episode was good, but was kind of rushed. But making it a two parter would mean dragging it out more and making it feel long and a little too dull, so shortening was the best option. That is my only gripe with the episode, it felt like it ended just as it begun.

Oh, and yes, due to timezones (episodes air on live steams or whatever at about 4 or 5 AM) and me not liking watching TV shows in the morning or throughout the day I did only watch the episode about half an hour ago. :P

Attention all, got something to announce. Didn't see this happening, but I'm actually beginning to get into doing...fanart (Dun,Dun, DUUUUUN!).

And because I am a noob, I start with a fad: Wet Manes. Yeah hardly any skill required compared to what you guys post here all the time, but better to start with something more my skill level then embarrass myself (that and my pencil drawing skills are nonexistant :lol:). Now my original intent was to do one for a Young Granny Smith but I only found two things that out to a halt for abit:

1. The only PSD file I found was only for a Pegasis
2. The only Base I found for Pegasis, Unicorn, Earth and Alicorn was only a PNG file (a file I usually struggle with in Photoshop).

So what I've done is combine these two and have made one, customisable, single template for all species. Having done that, I then went on and finally did it:



And this only the basic one just to get me started so naturally its not the most impressive thing any of you have seen. One thing I immediately noticed with the Wet Mane fad is that when it comes to the show characthers (at least from what I've seen), there's nothing other then color that seperates them. For that reason alone, I intend on doing one that includes braids and probably the hat (if I can even find it). So yeah, there's my measely attempt.

Well, here's an update on the progress:

Tail Braid is done and because it surprisingly fits well on the default Tail, I've just shrunk that down, covered most of it with the braid and left just the end out. It brilliantly works well and is quite size appropreate (which was the biggest thing I was concerned about). The Mane braids are giving me fits though. What would really help is if I knew how to bend shapes without warping.

Edit: Looks like I just had to figure out a better way to it. The Left one is fantastic looking and just blends well. Now its time for the right braid, this'll be the trickiest as its more out and abit harder to mask.

And here it is, decided to go without the hat:



Getting the braids to fit and to the size they are was a absolute choir, but it was worth it. I personally proud that I was able to pull off something this unique and not just a recolor. I know its messy, but it was the best I could do.

It looks good, the only issue I can see is the outline changing in thickness through the mane.

More impressive than my recolor, though.

Decided to go with bigger mane braids. Have to admit it adds abit of something to the original.

If you look at the braid on her left, some of the mane colour bleeds onto the other side of the mane outline. Right where it goes over her left hoof. Just wanted you to know because it's bugging me.

Apart from the mane colour bleeding through in other areas, it looks fine for a first try.

And yeah, not trying to pick on stuff on that, RACE, just pointing out little things we know might slip past you while you're creating it. Best way I've discovered through experience to make sure the edges outward of the outline are smooth is to select the transparency with the magic wand tool with very low threshold. Then just follow the dotted line to make sure it's consistent. That, and I've sometimes added a second layer in Photoshop and used it as a black background for contrast, so errors are more apparent, then just remove the layer when you're done.


I know I've had to link WIP of most of my stuff in TinyChat for others to point out little errors and stuff, too.
