Round 4 - 10 MARCH
5th Le Mans Classic
Le Mans 2005 NC
Standing Start
50 Race Laps / 420 Miles
Daytona, Laguna, and HSR all went the way of Ford. But the next event on WSC is Ferrari's best track - La Sarthe. With the enormous Mulsanne Straight, slipstreaming battles aplenty will be abundant in both GT and Prototypes. The straights will also result in a very high fuel usage for cars, so expect some very long pitstops over the course of the three hour event.
Yes, three hours. The longest race in the series history. The longest race I have ever hosted in two years as a GTP event organiser, the longest race I have entered
ever. This is not for the faint of heart, 3 hours will wear down your car, dirt will appear on the bodyshell, engines will lose power, it's a massive undertaking for car and driver.
The unique features keep on coming - it's a double points event for both classes, which increases it's importance to the title race. The race is the only round of the WSC run with a standing start, and for the first time ever we are going with a traditional Le Mans start - all the cars will be formed up against the pit wall, engine's revving as the ground shakes with the thunder of over 4,000 horsepower.
Buckle up, race drivers. It's time to test your endurance, your resolve, your ability, your concentration. Time to test the limits of your machine... and more than anything...
It's time for Le Mans.
Race Control Statement To Drivers From Furinkazen
An incredible race at HSR in wet conditions, difficult for everyone involved, and you will be glad to see it's dry for the toughest race of the season. We will be starting from a standing start for the race, with all cars formed up against the pit wall in a staggered manner. This pic was taken as some of us did a test of it last week after HSR, and is what I want to see from the field on a larger scale.
When the 3-2-1 Countdown is done, everyone hold handbrakes and strictly stay on your grid slot until called. P16 (or last place on the grid, will go to the place the right hand side Ferrari is in the below picture - so that is P16. P15 will go approximately where the left-hand side Ferrari is, P14 where the Ford is located, and so on. It is important to leave approximately one whole car width between you and the next car, as illustrated below - it obviously won't be perfect but if what is pictured can be replicated I will be happy. Race will begin when I type a time in the race chat box.
This start process should take around 5 minutes, and is one reason why the race begins at 7.40pm GMT. , with green flag scheduled to drop at 7.45pm GMT, 15 minutes earlier than normal. Qualifying commences from 7pm, the room will be open soon as I can make it online.
Good luck to all in the biggest event of the WSC season, from Furinkazen
