Hello all. As many of you know, I am an avid fan of rFactor. For those of you that don't know much about rFactor, it is a PC racing sim. It is infinitely expandable through the creation of "mods." These are community made modifications for the game. People can model out tracks and cars and edit the physics files to be put into the game. Everything is free and legal (except the game, you need to pay for that), and you can drive nearly anything at whatever track you choose.
One of my favorite rFactor features is the ability to perform driver swaps online with other people. We will be using this feature in the coming race.
Here's a write up for the race that one of my teammates did for our website, Champion Motorsports.
“Linas Montlhery?” you might ask….”Wasn’t he that kid with the blanket on the Charlie Brown cartoons?”
Um…er…no….
It is a racetrack created by the mind of someone who is clearly on the Dr Frankenstein/Jeckyll and Hyde channel..
Here is a map:
And an in car video using modern machinery:
12.500kms (7.76 miles)…road course and STEEPLY banked oval…pure madness. 12 hours of it…in the dark….
We must be crazy….
Chances are you might have seen the banked oval version of this track used in a totally different manner…for Ken Block’s Gymkhana 3 video.
Tomorrow, Saturday April 13 myself, Thomas Roth and PaulH “just call him Beer” are ‘putting the band back together’ for another endurance race using the Historics GT mod. Many more cars than our last race at Sachsenring, and far more varied. The entry list reads like a connoiseurs guide to sporting classics of the 70s-911s, Ferrari daytonas, Panteras, BMW CSLs, GT40s as well as Capris, 914s and an Alfa Romeo GTa. 23 cars entered thus far…wow…
Entries can be viewed here-some really nice skins:[/B]
SJ 12H of Paris *Team Registration*
Snagged a few screenies of Young Roth dicing with some other P car drivers last night. Sorry for the labels…[/B]
Race starts at 8 AM EDT / 12:00 GMT.
The race will be ran in realtime, so it will get dark around 6:00 PM GMT.
I'm going to take the start and will also take the closing stint.
Looks like the Bimmers are the car to beat this time around. Gonna try to get our Porsche on the podium! We can't beat them over a single lap, but should be able to stay out of the pits more than them.
Qualifying results will be posted later tonight.
Live timing is available here. My name is Thomas Roth. My teammates are James Knowles and PaulH.
There will also be a (real) live stream this time. So there will be commentary and such. Link will be posted tonight or tomorrow.
