Steward's Notes:

Welcome to the inaugural WRS GT3 World Championship season: a four race series based loosely upon the Blancpain Endurance Series. The series follows the calendar dates for the real life events using circuits available in GT5 with a North American stop at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca added as a bonus.

There are cars from four different manufacturers to choose from: Ford GT '06 | Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG '10 | Ferrari 458 Italia '09 | McLaren MP4-12C '10. The cars have been homologized so test them all and find the one that suits your driving style best. Pick wisely as once you qualify in a car you are committed for the season.

Time change will be enabled for several tracks on the calendar to get the best out of GT5's dynamic lighting so wear your sunglasses and try not to focus too much on the sunrise. Leave your rain tires and night vision goggles in the paddock because full dark driving and weather will not be included.

Individual driver and manufacturer team champions will be crowned after the season ending race at the Nürburgring 24h course.

Regulation Checks
  1. PP Limit set to 587 and all Ford drivers must enter the pits.

  4. PP Limit set to 602 and all McLaren drivers must enter the pits.
  5. A steward will exit the pits and clear the PP limit and set a weight limit of 1400 kg and return to pits.
*These two stage regulation checks must be performed for all qualifying races, but only for the specific car(s) qualifying.

Car Selection
  • You may change your choice of car by re-submitting the registration form with your updated choice and details prior to qualifying for or racing in your first event in the series.
  • Once you have submitted a qualifying time or participated in a race with a chosen car, you may not change cars for the duration of the series.

Qualifying

The top qualifying drivers will participate in the "A" race and others in the "B" race or potentially will remain on reserve if the threshold number of drivers for two lounges is not reached. The qualifying deadline is approximately 19 hours prior to race start. Late qualification may be allowed if spots are open, but late qualifying drivers will start at the back of the grid.

Qualifying will take place during the ten days prior to the race. Drivers can arrange ad hoc sessions with an approved qualifying steward at any time during the window. All qualifying sessions will require a steward to set up the lounge to proper specs and will consist of short "races" which are observed and verified by stewards and other drivers. Standard WRS track rules are in effect during these races and any infractions will be penalized a minimum of 2 seconds per incident unless it is beyond a reasonable doubt that the "infraction" had a negative impact on the lap time. Each driver can attempt qualifying only once.

Qualification times will not be published until the qualification window closes. Drivers are allowed to share their own quali times via PM or other private communications and others can observe their runs with permission from the driver, but qualification lap times or any information that be used to derive quali lap times should not be posted/discussed in any public thread.

Qualifying Race Procedure
  1. A race steward will set up the lounge to the proper specs for the class.
  2. The driver will be given an out lap and a single hot lap in free run for a final warm up if desired (Drivers should come to the session already warmed up and prepared).
  3. After the completion of the practice hot lap the race timer will be started.
  4. The qualifying steward and any other observers will monitor the race live to validate the run and save a replay in case of any protest.
  5. The qualifying races will consist of 5 laps: 1 un-timed out-lap + 3 timed hot-laps + 1 un-timed in-lap (only 2 timed hot laps for Le Mans). See Special Qualifying for Nurb 24hr
  6. When the driver finishes the final hot lap he should slow down and park on track before finishing the in-lap.
  7. Lap times and any infractions will be noted and announced by the steward.
  8. When the driver and steward are in agreement on the recorded net lap times the driver can exit the track.
NOTE: Special qualifying procedures/rules will be announced for the final race at Nurb 24hr.

Grid positions and Qualifying for Nurburgring 24hrs

Drivers that are within 10 points of the championship leader on points after the race at Laguna will start in Room A, and line up in the order of points scored at the front of the grid.

All other drivers who wish to race at the Nurburgring must pre-qualifiy prior to the race for grid positions. Drivers who do not pre-qualify may still race, but will start from the back of grid, providing there be empty slots in the room.

Pre qualifying will be a scheduled 1 lap hot-lap "Ghost Race" as used in Nordschleife Dream Combo, dates for which these take place will be available closer to the date of the race.

There will be a guaranteed grid placement for the drivers who have made all 3 races, irrespective of the amount of drivers signed up and qualifying times.

Example 1: 18 drivers sign up for Nurb, 2 drivers would be put on reserve.
The 2 drivers who would be put on reserve, will be the slowest qualifiers of those who have not competed in all 3 previous events, irrespective of championship points.

Example 2: 32 drivers sign up for Nurb.
8 drivers able to win the championship would take the first 8 spots on the grid in points order.
The rest of the grid for Room A and B would be made up using the pre qualifying times.
Qualification Procedures

Type: Collisions-Disabled Qualification Race
Length: 1 Lap
Procedure:
All drivers exit to lobby
Director adjusts settings for qualification race:
Laps: 1
Start Type: Grid Start
Grid Order: Fastest First (staged by handicap)
Disable Collisions: On
Drivers enter pits for qualifying race. Release from pits and park in order of handicap as announced by director.
Race timer started and drivers launch from grid start on countdown.
Stewards record total race times as qualification times.


Qualifying Time
  1. The driver’s single best hot lap will determine his starting position on the grid.
  2. Any driver in either class that demonstrates in qualification or practice sessions that he cannot keep the car in control and on the track consistently or maintain a reasonable pace will not be allowed to participate in the enduro race. The stewards and event organizers will make that call if it is deemed necessary.
  3. Drivers that fail to qualify by the deadline may be allowed to start behind all qualifiers (potentially in room b) if space is available and ranked by handicap.
Qualifying Issues
  • Any disagreement over infractions will be handled via replay review.
  • If a driver disconnects before finishing his first hot lap he can return to re-run a qualifying race.
  • Any lap completed (and time noted by steward) prior to DC will be counted and the lap count reduced for the 2nd attempt.
  • A driver will not be allowed to rerun a qualification lap if he DCs after damage occurs to the car in the lap, but he can rerun subsequent laps.

  • Individual race wins or podium finishes in Room B are considered "official" for historical tracking purposes regardless of championship points.
Le Mans
  • 00-16: Room A = 16 | Room B = none
  • 17-19: Room A = 10 | Room B = remaining
  • 20-32: The top half of qualifiers will race in room room A and the remaining drivers in room 2. Room 1 gets the extra driver in the case of odd numbers.
Spa & Laguna
  • 00-16: Room A = 16 | Room B = none
  • 17-32: The top half of qualifiers will race in room room A and the remaining drivers in room 2. Room 1 gets the extra driver in the case of odd numbers.
Nurb 24hr
  • 00-18: Room A = 16 | Room B = none | remaining drivers on "stand by"
  • 19-23: Room A = 12 | Room B = remaining
  • 24-30: The top half of qualifiers will race in room room A and the remaining drivers in room 2. Room 1 gets the extra driver in the case of odd numbers.
*In the event that some drivers are forced on "stand by" a certain number of spots on the grid will be reserved by division (and within division by qualification time):
  • D1 = 4 spots
  • D2 = 4 spots
  • D3 = 4 spots
  • D4/5 = 4 spots
Any reserved spots not claimed within the division groups will be taken by the highest remaining qualifier across all divisions.

*Grid spots in the final race at Nurb 24hr will be awarded based on championship points/Qualification and Participation.
Championship Points System
  • The GT3 driver championship will utilize a point system where all finishers (up to 32 drivers / up to 2 lounges) receive base points on a linear scale:
    • First place overall earns 32 base points regardless of how many drivers participate.
    • Each subsequent position earns one fewer point. (e.g. 1st=32pt, 2nd=31pt, 3rd=30pt, ..., 30th=3pt, 31st=2pt, 32nd=1pt).
  • Bonus points for podium finishers in room A are added (1st=+3pts, 2nd=+2pts, 3rd=+1pt).
  • Bonus points for the winner in room B are added (1st=+1pts)
  • Example if there are 23 drivers that run a race and the lounge split is 12/11
    A1 : 32 + 3 = 35
    A2 : 31 + 2 = 33
    A3 : 30 + 1 = 31
    A4 : 29
    A5 : 28
    A6 : 27
    A7 : 26

  • Ties: If two or more drivers finish the season with the same number of points, the higher place in the Championship shall be awarded to:
    • the driver with the highest finishing position in the final race at Nurb 24h,
    • if neither driver took part in the final event, the holder of the greatest number of first places,
    • if the number of first places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of second places,
    • if the number of second places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of third places and so on until a winner emerges.
    • If none of the above apply, then the position will be given to the driver with the lower handicap.
  • The team championship will be based on the average driver points for each team in each event:
    • team points per event: average points scored per driver on each team, multiply by 10, and then round to the nearest integer.
    • team points for season: sum the individual event scores for each team.
    • ties will remain for the team championship - no tie breakers.
*Drivers score individual and team points only if they complete at least 25% of the race (based on fully completed laps only).

Track Boundary Guidelines
Drivers are expected to do their best to stay within track boundaries per the OLR. Mistakes happens over the course of a long race and the random off or two will be overlooked in most instances, but if a pattern of boundary abuse is observed penalties will be handed out which include 15 seconds for a "minor" pattern of abuse, 30 seconds for a "substantial" pattern of abuse, and a DQ for "complete disregard" of track boundaries. In cases where penalties may not impact the driver (e.g. DC), the penalty may be carried over to the next event and may be applied as a 5 (minor) or 10 (major) grid spot penalty.

It's up to the admins' discretion exactly what qualifies as "minor", "substantial" or "complete disregard". Going outside the rumble by a centimeter isn't as serious as a car length wide excursions into the run off area. Factors such as dirty air and traffic also come into play. If you find yourself going wide then the next lap you're expected to slow down a bit more to make sure you stay within boundaries. If you make the same mistake multiple times and you want to avoid a penalty you can always self-penalize during the race by lifting for a very brief period upon returning to the track. Continuing to hammer the throttle after repeated boundary overruns may very well end with a post race penalty.

Specifics:
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Keep 2 wheels on or above the track in order to be considered within boundaries.
  • Specific track boundaries may be posted per event and may overrule the above.

Infractions and Penalties
  • The first step post race after an incident should be to contact other drivers involved in an incident via PM and try to come to some sort of understanding on all drivers point of view and if possible determine and agree who was at fault. If drivers come to an agreement and the results are not significantly impacted by the incident then no further action is necessary. If the incident was significant then follow up this driver to driver discussion with a report and review of the incident to an admin for penalty assessment.
  • If neither driver can agree as to who is at fault for an incident or the severity then escalate that incident to an admin via PM.
  • Be sure to include as many details as possible and an exact lap number and race time with the incident report. Admins will not waste time searching for the incident and will ignore any reports that do not specify the time of occurrence.
  • Admins/Steward will review and discuss all incidents before coming to a decision. If further detail is needed, drivers will be contacted via PM. Once a decision is reached by the incident review team there is no appeal process and the penalties are final.
  • Penalties could include loss of positions, loss of championship points and/or grid start penalties in future race. There is no fixed formula for penalties, but the context and severity of the incident is taken into account.

  • You must apply the exact performance parts as listed for each car. You cannot reach the given BHP in other ways e.g. adding a turbo instead of a sports ECU.
  • You cannot add parts in order to make up for lost BHP because your engine is not fully broken in. Your engine will be fully broken in after 187 miles/300 km of driving.
  • You must perform an oil change prior to every race.

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form[/URL] (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B with subject line "3D3 Racing" from your GTP_tag ID.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event and slots are awarded on the grid using qualification time. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your status or any other registration choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend the race please post in this thread so we can update the registration list and make the spot available to another driver. Also click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as event status.

Very sorry I'm going to miss Le Mans, but I plan to make the others!

I'll pick my car based one which teams are "light" after the first race.

Fixed. I added a TBD for those of you who want to sign up, but haven't decided on a car yet. Just be sure to update it once you pick and once you qualify the selection is locked in and cannot be changed.
 
Signed up. I hope to make all races but I can't guarantee that just yet. Definitely on for Le Mans though! Will decide and confirm my team choice as soon as possible.
 
I will be missing the 1st race, going on a golfing trip. First trip with the boys from work in years! We have had lots of fun putting this series together and I look forward to race #2!!!

I know some people are waiting on their final choice based on the spread of other guys cars, so if you are truly undecided, might be helpful for those guys to sign up with the "TBD" choice, to let people know you are still evaluating your choice.

Ill decide on my car choice later but I have a idea what I want to drive, to tell you the truth I like them all though.
 
For me, I only don't enjoy driving the Mclaren, but I will try some alternate tunes. Don't wanna end up in a car for all 4 races that isn't my true favourite :D

Edit: By the way, if anyone wants a fully broken in car, I have them all, so give us a shout and I can send one over.

Registered, I will not be there for the Spa race (as I prefer, watchin the real race alongside track) but good to go for the other 3 races. I will wait for car choice to equal the field...
 
Question, the McLaren has more allowable HP then the rest of the cars, won't that be an advantage considering the weight of the cars is the same?

All cars have been tested by several different admins/stewards and are equalized. So No, you can't say it has an advantage over the entire series.

Any single car might have a slight advantage at one track, but over the course of the season the regulations were set so that they would be equal. Some cars may have a higher risk/reward factor as well based on more difficult handling and maybe the faster gold lap, but less consistency, etc.

Also any single car might suit an individual driver's style better. Just pick the one that you like best and gives you the best results and then you don't have to worry about the others having an advantage. It's your choice, pick the fastest for you. We're not dictating anything about car choice except that you can't change your mind once you qualify in a car. We are not regulating how many drivers are in each car or assigning cars so if every driver does their homework when picking they should have nothing to worry about. No car equalization is 100% perfect, but the goal is to make the variation between driver skill dominate any variation in car performance.

Like Mohit and Tim said try it out and see what you think, its not all about power :sly::).

Think which one you think is best over the four races and are comfortable with, or the one you want to drive because you like it :)
 
Nice looking forward to this signed up for the sls now might switch to the 458 later not sure first have to tune and try both cars.

It mentions in the OP that it is "loosely" based on the Blancpain endurance series, so cars were drafted based on the entries in that series. The 4WD cars (Audi R8, Nissan GTR, and Lamborghini somethingrather) were eliminated, we wanted the same drivetrain for better equalization. We put in the Ford as a sorta replacement. Oh and the Aston Vantage which is the last car that is not there which is in the real life series just doesn't have enough performance in this game, so it couldn't quite be equalized, as much as we wanted it in :D

Yes I think that's a real shame would've used that car if it was in, gotta love astons especially those that have an engine that shouldn't even fit in the car. :sly:

By the way a question doesn't the real blancpain have a hp limit and yes I know there is a difference in the series wrs does for balance I understand that just curious. ;)
