Convertible Cup Interest/ Sign Up

This series is intended to be a light distraction from the larger events like GTPLMS etc. The races will be short (just under 10 mins each) and will be ran over a one week period. There will also be no qualifying rounds.

MGF '97 135BHP, 1070kg
MG TF160 '03 159BHP, 1150kg
Mazda MX-5 S-Special type 1 (NA, J) '95 140BHP, 1000kg
Mazda MX-5 1800 RS (NB, J) '04 149BHP, 1080kg
Toyota MR2 V Edition (J) '02 130BHP, 999kg

General Rules

Entrants must use the settings provided
Late submissions will not be accepted
Try to keep 2 wheels on the track at all times (rumble strips count). The cars are wild so offs are ok but if you benefit from the error, restart!
Standard OLR rules apply
Entrants can join the series at any time

Arcade Mode :- Single Race
AI: -2
No driver Aids allowed (ASM OR TCS)
Tyres Sports Soft (SS)
Roof Closed
Penalty to speed limiter
Car Setup: BHP & Weight as provided, tyres to Normal Economy (N1)
Top Speed/Gear settings CANNOT be changed

3rd 6 points
4th 5 points
5th 4 points
6th 3 points
7th 2 points
8th 1 point

Bonus point for the fastest race lap

Tokyo R246 4 Laps
Hong Kong 5 Laps
Infineon Raceway (Stock Car Course) 5 Laps
Opera Paris 5 Laps
Costa di Amalfi 4 Laps
Seoul 7 Laps
Nurburgring 1 Lap


There will also be a pre-season event at New York (4 laps) to check the car BHP and weight settings are ok and iron out any other problems.

As long as it is a 'proper' convertible (ie a soft top) the option 'should' appear in the options screen where you select AI strength and tyre settings.

But that usually means that you only get one opponent.

Some of the Coupe/Cabrios have the option too, eg: Merc SL55 etc.

The Roof Open/Closed option is only available in Single Races not in Time Trial. Roof needs to be closed otherwise you only get 1 opponent to race for some reason.

Please note there are a few changes above, notably:

AI now set to -1 (you need some chance of at least winning the race!!)
Gear settings clarification (ie not adjustable)
MX-5 1800 RS has had BHP reduced!

Sorry about the last one! All cars are subject to adjustments still and it turned out the MX-5 was still too quick. You can change your mind about what car you want to drive right up until the season starts (ie after the preseason race!)

edit: Also had to swap Citta di Aria with Infineon Raceway as Citta... is only available in time trial mode

I was only answering Chris's question about where the option appears.
Having the roof open means 1 AI, closed 5 AI.
Also, the coupe/cabrio's have powered roofs so they count as a convertible within the game, but the removable hard-tops on the Lotus Elise's don't.......go figure?


I 'might' enter this, in the MX-5?
Seems like a good longish, short-race series that won't take up too much time.
