First off, an apology; a lot of very serious issues have kept my attention away from the board for the past month. I'm not normally the type to vent my personal life online, but I'll sum it up as this; for a while there, I didn't even know where I'd be living in a few months. There's no excuse for leaving you all hanging though, all I can say is thank you for being so patient.

While I have personally sworn off video games for the forseeable future (perhaps when I get my tax return back... hello Snake and Niko), I still have plenty of interest in Photomode, especially running what I think is the best comp out there. So I'll be using all pre-taken shots for a while, heh. Anyways, about the actual comps, and specifically what I was intending on implementing in the near future:

The Top 10 - As you know it, may be done. In an effort to bring some drama into what is now a very small group of people, I'm leaving the Top Spots (trademark pending) selection up to the Weekly Winner. They have a choice of a Top 5, Lucky 7, or the standard Top 10. Also, the official ruling on ties will be staying as it has always been; there will be a 1 day tie-breaker, and if that ends in another tie, the Weekly Winner's vote is counted as the deciding vote. No arguments that way! Alternately... the poll entry number will be randomized, between 5 and 10. How would I achieve that? Well, there's a bunch of ways... I'll elaborate later!

Submission Method - Another area Weekly Winners will be given a bit more creativity. I personally like how the tournament will have anonymous entries... so it's up to you as a winner if you want people to PM their entries in, Sig-less, or enter normally. The only issue with this is who to send the PM's to; me, or the person deciding the poll entries. I would prefer it to be sent to them throughout the week, so that at the end, they simply close off the comp and send their decisions (and links) to me. This gives them all week to work with the entries, formulating their final choices, and eliminates back-and-forth delays inherent in a world-wide message board.

Rules - This one needs to be focused on. I am writing up a new set of rules that will lay down, concretely, what exactly is and isn't allowed in the realm of 2.0. It will be less focused on what tools people use, but more on what final results people are looking at doing to their pics post-production. I don't really care how you de-jaggy your pics, if you've found a method that works best, then use that! I don't want to see Photoshopped bodykits though. Enlarged rims are a hard area to regulate, but it's all about aesthetics; people could over-do it, but nobody will take it seriously anyways. I also don't want to let the Photoshop pros have too many advantages over those with more basic editting tools at their disposal; I feel the balance is already dangerously biased. This is where I would like input from all of you.

H2H - It will return. But given the small community currently and the abundance of active comps, I can't see it being very successful in the current environment. GT5 will be where we see it, that I can assure you. Which brings me to the next thing:
_______________________________

GT5 - I have absolutely planned on continuing both comps once GT5 is out. Obviously we have no clue about what Photomode will allow us to do in GT5, so it will be a teething exploration for the first little bit, but I do hope I get the game as soon as possible to make it as easy as possible moving over to the new generation. I will also keep the GT4 2.0 running for an indefinite amount of time, running parallel to GT5. Of course, after a certain amount of time, I will start to exclusively work with GT5... I am sure there will always be people who want to work with GT4 though, or are going to remain late adopters and save some money... so we'll get to that when it happens.

Good to see U Slip:tup:

Its also good to know that U still have plenty of interest in 2.0/H2H comps, because they rock!!!! U are doing well IMO, I just think that now the TOP 10 thing should be different. Meaning having no TOP 10, this way all people would be happy, or let the weekly winner decide if we wants TOP 10, TOP 5 or everybody goes to the poll.
The submission method, I agree with U...and I also agree with the Rules (in this one U are totally right mate:tup:).

Hope to be here to enter in GT5 comps mate, it will be GREAT!!!

Been awhile slip. Nice to see back and ready to get things started. I like the changes you want to make and love the submission methods you discussed. Nice to see some rule changes too. Giving it a more even playing field is a great idea. good job mate!👍

You don't need to thank us, Slip. It's us that need to thank you. Thank you for all the hard work and all the time you've put in these competitions. My very first competition win is what I'm thanking the H2H competition for.

Also, you've done an incredible job maintaining the 2.0 competition. One cannot expect you to put up the results and/or a new week on the second a deadline has past. With the decreasing flow of artists in this section at the moment, and a life of your own you have to take care of, all we can do is wait untill you have the time for us 👍

The Top 10

I like the tie rule, and I'm definitly a "back-up" guy for the new methods you are introducing. Besides these methods, the previously winner should also be able to come up with some creative weekly-top system, for example a top 5, yet 10 entries are there, etc. Whatever the possibilities, I'd rather see a top 5 with 6 entries, than a top 10 with only 7 entries :indiff:

FTW! is what first came to my mind here. I would be so in for a total anonymous week. Especially with themes like "Busting-ass-off, your best!" or something similar :dopey:

I've always thought the artist himself should decide what he/she would like to edit, and how. When entering this competition, you know the entrants are using photo-manipulating software. If this is too high for you to enter, than don't. There are amny competitions out there on these boards that do not allow photoshopping, so that's where they can go. However, a winner image is not always heavily photoshopped. I have been beaten by PMC-restricted entries dozens of time, while I came out with blurs, cleaned cars and whatnot. My opinion: Let the artist decide what he/she wants to use. If in doubt, the theme chooser could decide how far rules on editing go. I think by restricting these rules, this competition gets only less attractive...

I don't think editing GT5 images will be as challenging as editing GT4 images, but we'll see once we get there 👍
