One of the most anticipated games on PC and consoles alike, I'm really looking forward to this one.

Fallout 1 and 2 were two of the best non-fantasy RPGs ever created. Come to think of it, I liked them better than most fantasy based RPGs as well. :)

Previews looked very awesome already, and I heard of several reviews stating that this will be way more than just 'Oblivion with guns'. Even if it were just 'Oblivion with guns', I'd probably like it, since I loved playing Oblivion as well. :)

Anybody looking forward to get this one too?

'Bloody mess' perk at work ;)

It's more then just Oblivion with guns? Hell sign me up. I've never played any of the Fallout games in the past, but Bethseda typically makes their games so you can play them without prior knowledge...although prior knowledge helps. I think I'll be getting this, although for the PC since I don't really like shooters on the console.

yep indeed Im waiting for this one too, but seeing as I really would like to complete Dead Space and Far Cry 2 (I take a very long time playing games) by the time I've actually completed said games it will probably be purchasable for less than £20 and may be the game of the year edition with expansion packs galore. but I really cant wait to play it, Oblivion was really cool.

I am kinda in two minds about it.

There are a few things keeping me from preordering it mainly something to do with Bethesda's (Oblivion) history on the PS3 console. No patch for the wampire bug on PS3 system, no Oblivion shivering isle's Expansion for EU customers, and Bethesda's unwillingness to make and official statement if they will incorperate trophies for Fallout 3.

With that being sad it is likely I will get the game sooner or later, just holding off a bit to see how things turn out. I have a lot of games I havent completed yet ( I havent even opened my Disgaea 3 yet, holding off until I complete some other titles )

Also the game is not a FPS shooter, it has some elements that may make it look like it is, but the game is more similar with Oblivion that it is with a games like COD, BF, Far cry etc...

If people dident like Oblivion I would advice to hold off until more of the gameplay is revealed. Or you could look at You tube by watching the video's you will see the game looks very similar to Oblivion but with a postnuclear 1950'ish style of graphics.

While many people can't wait for this game. I find myself have no interest in Fallout 3 at all. In my opinion, it should be about swords and magic spells and it comes to RPG games.:sly:

anyways, if this game ends up to be a big one and Bethesda doesn't screw up the PS3 owners, I may have to change my mind.:dopey:

It's gotten a lot of positive chatter, but if it's going to be like oblivion in anyway I'll thankfully pass. It's another $60 that won't go down the toilet.

What did you have against Oblivion? I think out of all the games I've ever bought the only game I played more then Oblivion was Diablo II.

It's like Myst or WOW right? No thanks.

You really thought that? I didn't get either that out of it, Oblivion was basically like every other RPG on the market expect it was an RPG. If Fallout is anything like it, which I assume it will be, it will be great.

Assassin's Creed was a 3rd person action/adventure game, this is 1st person action RPG, I don't really see the connection...

The only review up at the moment is Official Xbox Magazine's which gave it 10/10. Don't read OXM so I can't say I'll have similar opinions though :dopey:

Heretic! :P  If fantasy is your thing, this game will not be. But I found the first two Fallout games rather refreshing from the usual swords 'n spells stuff. :)

Any online play?
Not sure.

+1 I really enjoyed Oblivion.

Ok, so will it be as boring as Assassin's Creed but with weapons then? Or like Resistance boring?
No, the closest thing would be Oblivion. ;) Add to that some turn based strategy elements (but only if you want to, you can play realtime all the time if you want) for the combat part, and a completely different universe (no fantasy).

Good link SF.

IGN gave it a 9.4 or 9.5, I'm waiting for GameSpot's review because I tend to agree with their reviews the most.

No, i don't think it does. I've read reviews and they don't say anything about online. It shouldn't need it anyway, it's supposed to be a really expansive RPG, Just not an MMORPG.

I've been interested in, and following the progress of this game for a while, and since I didn't play the first two, that link that Solid Fro provided to the retrospective was really convenient. I realize that this game was developed by Bethesda, and based on their lack of support for problems that arose on the console versions of Oblivion, I am going to wait a while before I consider purchasing Fallout 3 for the PS3.

I believe that today is the official release date of this game, and already there are some complaints at the Bethesda Forums. The following is a link to the Bethesda Game Studios Forums > Fallout 3 > Fallout 3 - Hardware and Software Issues > PlayStation 3 Issues:
http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=38

I believe that it is common knowledge that there will be no trophy support for the PS3 version, and most likely no DLC either, but some of purchasers are already expressing doubts as to whether Bethesda will even bother to create and offer patches to correct problems that will be encountered by those playing the game on a PS3. I’m just going to buy some popcorn, sit back, and wait for a while.

If someone can do something good with the Oblivion engine, power to them, but I have my doubts after seeing that the awful 3rd person walking/jumping (or should I say moonwalking/hovering?) animation is still present.

If the PS3 version is really that much inferior and filled with bugs, this is one game I'll be getting for PC instead. ;)

Well, as is typical of Bethesda....this game seems to have lots of issues....on all platforms. However, the general consensus at this time is that they will most likely offer quicker/better support to the PC and XBOX 360 versions of this game.

It is in contrast similar to Orange Box Half Life. Compared to the other versions it is inferior but that doesn't stop it from being a great game. The same game gameplay wise, art direction and gaming experience.

IGN gave it a high score but some of those bugs might get patched. It still a solid title.

Like other have said, there are going to be issues since it's a Bethseda game. I would honestly get it for the PC if your rig will run it mainly because I have to imagine there will be many user mods for the game which will expand it's playability. Plus, at least here in the states, the PC version is cheaper then the PS3 or 360 version.

I'll wait a bit and see if they at least announce some kind of patch. I find it strange that the PS3 version of Oblivion was (almost) indistiguishable from the X360 counterpart.

Not impressed with this lack of attention. :grumpy:

I can forgive visual inferiority, it hardly impacts gameplay. Bugs however, are very annoying and do impact gameplay. I'd rather play the PS3 version, but not if it's a bugfest. Then I'll go for the PC version instead. My PC runs Oblivion quite nicely (though not at the highest settings), so this one shouldn't be a problem. :)

Since I'm still busy with Far Cry 2, I think I'll wait a bit before buying this game. Because regardless of the platform I'll get it for, this baby is mine!

Oh there are bugs across all platforms. There are PS3 specific bugs that sound like a patch fix. possibly when the trophy patch is released.

Hmmm I think the "terrible graphics" and the "Major Bugs" plus all the other thigs wrong with the PS3 version are a little exadurated. Wouldn't there be a marked reduction in the review scores where these coments are coming from? I mean serious reductions in scores! Alot is being taken out of context of the whole review and I can't help but think simply because one review has mentioned an isue then all the reviews have to mention it also, each slightly more critical than the last....and yet the scores they then give the game don't seem to reflect the critisism? I wan't to know if it's a good game not how it compares on different systems OK if theres a huge problem then yes but the scores the PS3 version is getting isn't saying to me HUGE PROBLEM LOL
Can't help feel theres a little fanboy one up manship going on accross the net over this. The game has been developed on the PC and 360....then converted for the PS3 for this reason it's not going to be as sharp unless you delay the PS3 version for a good few months to tighten it up. Can't do anything about that if you want a simultanious release on this game, If it's a huge issue get it on one of the other platforms if you have them but again, from the review scores this looks to be a very very good title on the PS3.

Review scores.

Thats an average score of 8.9 on the PS3 on the 360 it got an average of 9.1 and on the PC it got an average of 9.1 as well.
So for all the huge issues the PS3 version has compared with the 360 and PC versions it has been marked down 2%...........that I think coming from the people who are publishing the info about these problems in there reviews speaks volumes! I also think that because there is this focus and need to better there peers the review scores have been droped simply to justify the reviewers comments......but by only on average 2%?

I'll leave you with the IGN reviews closing comments

It's rare that a game can hit the mark in so many different and often conflicting areas. Fallout 3 offers freedom without sacrificing a focused story. It delivers fantastic combat without forgoing a deep role-playing system. The characters you meet are engaging and oftentimes hilarious without feeling out of place in this harsh world. The game has a few flaws -- most of them technical -- but it's a case where the whole is greater than the sum. It's a fantastic game with incredible atmosphere that offers fun in so many different ways that you're almost sure to get hooked. This is one of the best games you'll play this year.

I gave the game a go on a friend's pc. It's friggin' awesome! Definitely a worthy successor. Oh, the pc has its fair share of bugs too. ;) I had a few freezes and glitches. But this game definitely feels like a Fallout game. 👍

I also watched a video comparing the PS3 and X360 version and yes: there is less AA and slightly less detailed textures on PS3. They also complained about the lighting, but I actually liked the lighting on PS3 better, because I think the lighting on the X360 is way too shiny. But hardly anything that would ruin the experience for me.

As far as the bugs on PS3: I heard that most freezes can be worked around by signing out of PSN. I think that is acceptable until they come with a real fix.

I'm getting this one for sure. 👍

I'm going to pick up my pre-order (LE) today from Gamestop. I own a PS3 and 360, but I went for the 360 version (awaits flame war).

As has been pointed out, the 360 version seems to (currently) be the better buy, and there are tons of achievements right out of the box. If they fix all the problems with the PS3 version I'll buy it, but until then it's 360 time.

Now, I just need to tear myself away from Fable II.

;)

This title interested me, so I decided to give it a try (GameFly Q listed #2), though I'm not a fan of FPS, and cannot stand RPGs. Odd I'm giving this one a shot, but I really liked what I've seen. I just hope the story and character acting is good. By the looks of the scores it has received so far, I think I shouldn't be too disappointed. I just hope the gaming action is fun and addictive.
