Is "E74" the Xbox 360's new Red Ring of Death?

Go figure, I finally get with the program and buy a 360, look what pops up in the news. Good thing i bought an extended warranty from where I bought it.

So has anyone had the misfortune of this popping up?

All of our 360s suffered from the 3rrod. Have not had the E74 error yet but I am sure we will eventually.

Yeah, I had heard of the RROD. And from what I understand, that has been addressed on the latest wave of systems released.

I just thought it was amusing in a sad sort of way that this popped out less than a week after i finaly bought one.

On the Avatar: Thank you. Thats my '67 Hard top. Its a work in progress. I saw your HT/FB conversion. Very sharp.

I get this error somewhat often when I start the 'box up. I just turn it off and on again, and it's fine.

I just got a new 360 after 2 years. I prey it doesn't break cuz im done for good if it does. Well at least after they replace i'll give it away. My first 360 got the RROD on the guy i sold it to for $150. He in turn got a brand new 360 premium for $150. I dont feel bad, i feel good that he had to go through it, not me since i gave up on it.

While I love my 360, I'm seriously sick of all these hardware problems. I feel like the only one who's never gotten a RROD and I still can't help but worry that it's about to blow whenever my game freezes up or lags, or my controller stops responding for a moment, etc. And now there's another major issue? Hmmmm...

You are not the only one at all.
We dont smoke, we dont let anyone smoke in our house, we dont have any kids, we dont have any dogs or cats, never wear our shoes in the house, keep our house very clean, and take care of our consoles. With that said...I am on my 3rd, my gf is on her 5th, and my brother is on his 2nd. There isnt a day that goes by where I dont wonder if my 360 will even turn on. Quite sad.
I just bought a 120gb hd in hopes to relieve some of the stress from the disk drives since I will be able to install the games to the HD.

Yeah, I take so many precautions with mine... extra careful when I have a bunch of friends over, never leave the console on when I leave the room (which I don't ever have to worry about with my PS3), etc. it's kinda sad really

Mine keeps freezing up randomly. Forza and Test drive. Test drive stop freezing after I installed the game.

I used to think that was a sign of RROD (along with a non-responsive controller from time to time while turning on the system) but mine did that about a month ago, but only once and it's been fine ever since... so I guess there are just glitches. Hopefully yours isn't a big problem though.
