For this to happen the planets and stars will have to align, the tide will have to be just right and the grace of God will have to be with us. That being said, none of this is out of the realm of possibility.
Sony's press conference goes very well. PSP2 is shown, its pretty slick. PS3 gets a price cut, $50. GOWIII looks even better, fist boss battle shown. Uncharted 2 looks amazing. Some new games are announced. Heavy Rain looks like the most original thing since LBP. MAG is more epic than imaginable. Some new firmware feature are shown. New update goes live with cross game voice chat and messaging. Everyone in the crowd is thinking how could this get any better?...
The screen goes black. You hear an engine turn on. Its a deep V6. From the blackness a pair of headlights emerge. The silhouette of the front of a Nissan GTR appears. The idle remains. Then you hear another engine. A grumbling V8. The camera pans to the right. Headlights turn on, its a Ford GT. The idles remain. Camera still panning. You hear another engine. A menacing V12. Headlights turn on, its a Ferrari Enzo. The idles remain. The camera pauses, then keeps moving, slowly. Then you hear another engine, a thunderous V10. Headlights turn on, its a Lamborghini Gallardo. The idles from all the cars remain. The camera finally stops panning and a final engine note is heard, a high strung 6 cylinder. Headlights turn on, its a Porsche 911 Turbo. The idles remain. The camera pans back and the lights turn off. The screen goes black. The idles fade out, for a while all you can hear is silence and then you can pick up the ever increasing sound of a field engines in the distance. Louder, louder, howling, grumbling, increasing in volume. The screen flashes to a picture of a crest of a hill. Its the first tall crest of the Nurburgring. The light ripples through the trees while they churn in the wind, the suns rays reflect off of the morning dew on the grass, little pieces of rubber and asphalt dance across the track's surface, the graphics are beyond anything on any system, the fans begin cheering, horns beep, the flags waves in the wind, flashes bursting, meanwhile the sound of those engines almost becomes deafening. Then over the crest, the 5 cars emerge and the camera follows them into the distance, engines roaring. The GT5 logo appears. The GT theme song is played and KY steps onto the stage. The applause from the crowd is tremendous. (this is a cutscene not gameplay...)
After everyone settles down the first actual gameplay of GT5 is shown (KY racing other member of PD in the 5 cars around the Nurburgring). KY moves into a slide powerpoint. He talks about GT5 and some of the features it will include (such as, damage [which is not yet finalized], variable weather based on real world conditions, a campaign mode that has twice as many events as GT4, final car and tracks numbers are still to be determined but will be great than anything on the market, more content will be added as DLC [some free, some not], an event creator in which, you can customize your own race or championship with many different options, an online experience just as customizable as the single player but also with a lobby system [private rooms], online to include variable weather, screen capture support with sharing, the ability to upload your replays to youtube, a tuning system that is a hybrid of PP and real life performance parts, full drift events, rally is coming but is still a WIP maybe post launch, many race cars to be included [Le Mans, DTM, JSGT, D1GP and more to come], connectivity with granturismo.com similar to KZ2 and R2 [stat tracking etc], support for all wheels on the market and that the game will come on a 100gb BR disc) and the development process. Even more and bigger feature will be reveal closer to the games release.
As awesome as all this sounds KY says he has something even bigger in store. GT5 will be the first game that forges the bridge between video games and the real world. PD is working with major car manufacturers to reveal cars simultaneously in real life and then in GT5. In GT5 real professional race car drivers will partake in special online events and competitions. KY jokes that one of these drivers is rumored to only wear white and can't be beat. Furthering competition, GT5 will be the first game to take gamers out of the chair and into the real world. GT Academy will be held every 2 years and recruit the top GT drivers from special online competitions. These drivers will have a chance [not guaranteed] at becoming real life racing drivers. Other events will be held annually that reward top drivers with valuable prizes. GTTV will cover these events. It will also offer many specials covering the world of cars and automotive racing. KY says that this is just a healthy taste and the he and PD have even more to reveal once the game nears release. KY thanks everyone for being patient and says that your wait will not go unappeased. He says the GT5 is slated for a mid 2010 worldwide release and that loyal fans of GT5p need not be disappointed as one more update will come this holiday season and will definitely tie you over until GT5. The crowd gives a standing ovation. All the other announcements of E3 are rendered utterly insignificant. PS3 sales spike in the wake of the announcement.
Now hows that for an announcement?
