GT4 Car Comparison Tests

It seems like the GT4 section of the forum hasn't had a new thread for a while, so to make things interesting again, I've made a new one.
The idea is to take some similar cars to a track of your choice and see which one is the best, while factoring in value, styling, and tunability.

I did one earlier, I'll put it up later.

Because everyone is onto GT5:P

so to make things interesting again, I've made a new one.

No.

There's no need for people to do it. People have different opinions, no one can agree.

Seriously, you ask all the time moderators to lock threads, and you put this up? I don't believe you.

What's with the attitude Codename L? :boggled:

1) Not everyone is into GT5:P.
I'm not, and I can name many more that aren't either.

2) No what?
No, it's not interesting? Maybe not to you, but the GT4 forum still gets plenty of visitors, (there's 46 in here at the moment) both members and guests. If some of the guests that're still playing GT4 decide they'd like to join up to post their own comparison, then it's serving a useful purpose and generating interest.
Or No he hasn't made a new one? Which clearly he has, or you & I wouldn't be posting in it! :dopey:
Now he has Premium he can pick and chose which of his threads he'd like to close.

3) People having different opinions is fine, that's what makes it interesting: You like car x, I like car y.
Can we both justify our choices for our own reasons? Speed, handling, appearance? That's interesting.
Can you be persuasive enough to change my mind about car y? Can you give me some details that I wasn't previously aware of that'll make me see the merits of car x in a different light?
There's potential here for some unusual matchups and some magazine-like comparisons such as niky used to do. (That link is an excellent example 👍)
If you don't want to contribute to the topic, don't bother, however, you shouldn't dismiss the idea carte blanche for everyone else just because it doesn't interest you.

I meant this more like this:

1 - The basic follower of GT4 is GT5:P. It hasn't had a new thread for a while because:
a) Basically everything is covered.
b) People are now emigrating to GT5:P boards and GT5 boards. Needless to say, with so many topics covered already in GT4, there's almost no reason for them to post here, other than certain things that GT4 can offer, such as Photomode.

2 - He should not make a new threads "just to make things interesting again". The game has been and always will be interesting. Why opening a new thread just for that? How much interesting things can get with a game already 4 years old? Other than challenges, or races, I don't see what else can be done.

3 - Yourself, Smallhorses, told me that it would be pretty useless to post threads about car comparisons, with so many threads already covering that, such as the Subaru Impreza VS Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and Lotus Elise VS Opel Speedster, and also that it would clutter the board with thousands of comparisons going as far as to compare cars that do not have nothing to do with each other.

Please note that this is by no means some sort of attack to MinoltaMan89, but to be honest, his attitude towards new members lately hasn't been of much help to them, even daring to say "*sigh* Mods lock this". What kind of attitude is that?
I hope, though, that this thread will go in the right direction with your bless, Caballitos (can I call you that? It is the literal form of Smallhorses in spanish. Sounds very funny to me )
Where the hell is Parnelli Bone to give me my cold beer when I need it!

Considering the amount of garbage he has posted on GTP since he joined here I don't think he has any ground to say that regarding ANYONE, let alone other newbies. ;) Just a look in the 1/4 mile thread is an indication of what sewrage has come out from his typing fingers.

I knew someone had to agree with me! Thank you very much, man! I wanted to take a look at his older posts, but I could only see his last 100. And yet, he got Premium...

You asked if you could start a poll for one specific car versus another specific car. I advised against this on the grounds that it would tend to spawn hundreds of wannabe threads along the same lines, such as those you've suggested.
Now we have a comparison thread where anything goes, want to compare a Subaru 360 & Citroen 2CV? Go ahead in here. Trial Celica vs. Regular Celica with tuning parts fitted? Why not? It'll go in here too. Same goes for Sauber C9 vs. Toyota 88C-V, what I'm saying is we don't need a separate thread for each one, unless you're planning some epic-mega-test like niky did.

I agree that he should leave the moderating to the moderators and so should you. Many folks are like this when they start, wanting to be all helpful, and some time ago we even had to go through a spate of temporary bans for people flooding the board with useless "In Before The Lock" posts to set things straight, however, his attitude in another thread doesn't justify your attitude in your first post here if it's got nothing to do with the topic.

And you think that coming in here to point this out is going to help him change his posting style for the better?
We've all made our fair share of good and not-so-good posts here, and I'd be foolish to claim otherwise, or exempt myself from that, but, people learn by example and demeaning posts like yours don't help matters.
If you don't wish to see his posts, put him on your ignore list.
If you have issues with any post on GTP you can use the "Report" button to let the staff deal with it, if appropriate. This goes for everyone.
It's nice if you guys can diffuse situations amicably and be helpful to one another while doing so, as it makes things run much more smoothly.

And yet, he got Premium...

It's nothing to do with postcount. I know people that've bought Premium before they've posted anything here. There's nothing stopping you going Premium either.

So, shall we go back to the topic now?, and if you've nothing to add that's on-topic, don't bother posting.
Again, this goes for everyone in all threads throughout the site.

Ditto what Smallhorses said.

Dude, realize you just revived a two weeks old thread without apporting anything to it. If we haven't posted in it in the past two weeks, it means the argument is already over.

Did you specifically miss this bit?

Your post there wasn't needed same as your first one wasn't.

And besides, I wasn't even arguing. Like Lucas said, there's no reason to revive a thread if you're not contributing anything useful to it.
So where is your car comparison or can I just put this thread out of it's, and my, misery?

Hey guys, On this thread I will compare two cars by lap times. First two cars will be the Honda Integra Type R vs. The Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Here's the lap times and car pictures. First car: Honda Integra Type R. Second car: Mitsubishi Eclipse.(Durrr, Just throwing that out there). Both are S2 Tires, Track: Tsukuba. No mess ups on any part of the track. And finally no upgrades for the integra because that one's faster, But I did get an upgrade for the Eclipse, It was a tiny bit slower. I made them both 116 HP.

VS.

Integra Lap times:
First lap: 1'19.512
Second lap: 1'13.862
Third lap: 1'13.865
Mitsubishi Eclipse Lap times:
First lap: 1'21.421
Second lap: 1'15.053
Third lap: 1'15.536
New car lap time comparison coming soon!

Track? Tires used? Something else than just lap times? I'm sure we would want to know. :)

Anyways, I expected just by reading the title that the Type-R would be faster. It's lighter, also.

Okay, I'll add that now, And about the cars, I got an upgrade with the Eclipse so it's exactly 116 HP. Just like the Integra.

Merged this into the comparison test thread as we don't want 1,000,001 individual threads on 206 vs. Clio, Lancer vs. Impreza, Skyline vs. Supra, 88C-V vs. R92CP, etc., etc.

Who's thread is this, I'm confused, My post in the thread I made is in this but it's not the same thread name, and MinoltaMan's post is before mine. I don't get it.

It doesn't matter who owns the thread, just that your information fits within it, and any subsequent posts that anyone feels like making to compare 2 or more cars should also go here. When threads are merged, the posts merge in chronological order, since yours are the most recent they're closest to the end of the thread.

If we leave your Integra vs. Eclipse thread on the front page, then Member X sees this and thinks "Why don't I make a Civic vs. Mirage thread?" Member Y sees that and thinks "Why don't I make a 300ZX vs. Supra thread?" Member Z sees that and thinks "Why don't I make an RX-7 vs. RX-8 thread?" and before you know it the whole GT4 board is swamped by thousands of short threads with laptimes of 2 cars.
Much better, tidier, and easier to manage if everything is kept all in one place, as I'd explained to Codename L, and MinoltaMan when this thread was opened.
Since this thread already has the title GT4 Car Comparison Tests it's a very appropriate place for people to continue posting your (and anyone else that wants to contribute) comparisons. 👍

It's more important to make good contributions to existing threads than it is to post lots of new threads just so you can "own" the thread. Ownership is not important, and in fact 1 person, and 1 person only "owns" all the threads in :gtplanet: It won't take a genius to figure out who that someone is...

...Him?

Just kidding. Smallhorses is right, Snowboard_kid. You should follow his advice.

I've been driving a lot of cars these past weeks, so hopefully I will come up with a comparison of my own. 👍

Hey guys SRinc. here to bring you another duel amongst machines. This time i aimed my tuning wrench to my old time favorite Honda. While looking for a black EP3 to battle with a DC5, i should add EP3's are so rare on this particular profile i only own one EP and im over 2100 days. i came across a Prelude SiR S-Spec '98 with 19k miles. SOLD! Took it to Spoon then home and tweaked and tuned it to the state it rests at now on whatever it is that makes our cars spin around and around on GT4. So whos the other guy? Exhibit B happens to be a 2000 Signet Silver Honda Accord Euro R! Now dont underestimate the Accord just because its a sedan vs a coupe, the beauty of this competition... same motor's in both cars the H22A. Again i present to you the Battle of the H Series...

98 SRinc. Honda Prelude SiR S-Spec (BB6)
2378 lbs. 391 hp. TOP SPEED: 222 mph @ 8400 RPM
OVERVIEW:
When driving the SiR i must say it wasnt what i expected. its powered by a 391 hp H22A but it didnt behave like one. i felt as if i were driving a USDM Honda Prelude with the Accord's F22B SOHC stuffed in it. The cornering and acceleration upon exit is phenomenal for a FF car, let alone the forgotten Honda child the Prelude. it wasnt a consistent car as i'd like it to be. id say its great for starters new to GT4. I rate it at e 3.5/5 in this one.

00 SRinc. Honda Accord Euro R (CL1)
2689 lbs. 376 hp. TOP SPEED 221 mph @ 7500-7700 RPM
OVERVIEW:
The Accord Euro R delivered how and when i wanted it to. it had a responsiveness that the Prelude seriously lacked. its ability to whip around corners so nimbly tho its a sedan was remarkable. it wowed me like the first time i drove Tom's Chaser back in 2005. Every little thing it was asked to do it did, the handling was superb, not to mention that the Prelude has the same suspension set-up as my DC2 used in a comp vs Rotary Junkie (see Civic vs Integra Whos Better...), and that that suspension was then applied to the Euro R with minor adjustments to accommodate for the Accord's extra weight and length. Overall 4.5/5 for the CL1.

**Vegas 0-400m**
Prelude SiR : 0'13'420
Accord Euro R: 0'13'018*

**Clubman Stage Rte. 5**
Prelude SiR : 0'59'810 0'59'518 0'59'459
Accord Euro R : 0'59'679 0'59'483 0'58'695*

**Seattle**
Prelude SiR : 1'48'558 1'45'864 1'45'538
Accord Euro R : 1'46'904 1'48'254 1'43'704*

Conclusion:
With the numbers in and the feeling returning to my right thumb, i give kudos to the Accord Euro R. not only did it put up the numbers but it performed those numbers. despite a hp advantage of nearly 50 hp, the Prelude didnt out do the sedan. where the Prelude was fast the Accord was faster. The handling on both the Hondas are great, but the Accord just does a better job. under acceleration the Euro R feels as if its digging into the pavement and going as hard as it can, the 'Lude not so much. The weight difference that shouldve favored the Prelude just as much as its HP difference, wasnt even a factor in the matter. Look at CSR5 the Accord put up better lap times every lap. So how would you like your H22 served, coupe or sedan? SRinc. is going to stick with the four-door advantage, happy tuning!
