Before anyone flames this thread or im yet again added into the name and shamed thread, I just want to repeat a conversation I just had a couple of hrs ago.

I have just returned from a visit to my local Game store where I got into conversation with the manager over GT5. Im going to repeat exactly what was said!

When talking about GT5 the manager asked if I wished to pre-order it. I asked what was the release date and he said 25th September. The interesting conversation began when asking how reliable this release date was. His reply was "Well considering GT5 has been in our warehouse for 2 months im fairly sure this is accurate" My reply was "Are you sure your not getting mixed up with GT mobile on the PSP". After still shaking my head with disbelief I asked again and his reply was "No its definately in our warehouse packaged and ready to go but this isn't anything new because often we recieve games in our warehouse months before release".

Having come home and thought about this I wonder if what he said might be true. Nearly everyone on here is assuming GT5 isn't quiet finished yet and this is the reason why a release date hasn't been announced. Well it could well be that GT5 is finished, produced, packaged ready for release but Sony are just waiting for the right moment to release. Im fairly sure Sony don't pluck dates out of thin air and working out a release date is a fairly complex process.

Some may wonder if the above is true then why not release GT5 now. Well my response is at this time of year its a very poor time to release a game. Many are either outdoors enjoying the weather or spending their money on holidays. This has always been a very quiet time in the gaming industry as many well know. So if the above is true maybe the Sony marketing experts are currently trying to work out the best time to release GT5 and possibly coincide with a PS3 price drop.

I still have my doubts about Sep 25th mainly because I don't think this is the best time to release GT5 from a marketing perspective. However the point of my post is maybe GT5 is actually finished and its the release date that needs to be finalised and not when GT5 is ready!

my local Game ... the manager ... he said 25th September

Famine
A release date that comes from a shop, a shop's website, a shop employee or anything to do with a shop is not the release date unless there's a fluke coincidence.

Interesting story, but I'm afraid it falls under the sentence above.
