I havent heard this being discussed since it was proposed as a possibility years ago with the launch of the PS3. Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt there already a game that supports this? (F1 Championship I think)

I know for the casual gamer it may not be needed, but those of whack jobs with our cockpits, that having a PSP rearview mirror would be a sweat welcomed addition.

So has there been any updated news about this coming to GT5? I would think with the announcement of Gt:PSP that this would seem even more possible.

Thoughts?

It could be possible. I think we have alredy discuss this (not sure).

Yeah why not, if you own psp it would be cool but I would buy psp just for this of course.

Where would you have it? On top of TV?

F1 CE/PSP rear view mirror function was taken out iirc. GT PSP/GT5 on the other hand might have some chance to make it, seeing that PD still have yet to unannounce the connectivity between the two games.

How would it be of any use?

Seeing behind you when you are not using cockpit view without having to press a button?

It would be great if PD implement something like this, or even some sort of customisable gauge setup, where you can display RPM, MPH/KPH, boost etc.

That's not using the PSP to it's full capabilities. Maybe an endurance race manager.

I think it would be kind cool. But where would you mount it, on a Playseat?

I'd put it on the top of my HDTV in the case of a rear view mirror, or behind the wheel on the body of the G27 if it could be used for data.

Hell, if they implement that they might as well make it with three PSPs :P Rearview and two side view mirrors :D Or incorporate it into a wheel with so you can click it in and use it as a race data display :D but that is a bit far fetched... I'll keep my imagination in check now.... 👍

Now that I like

I like that idea! Better then pressing a button and getting dizzy, while trying to find the track again!:)👍

I like it too!

Lets start with one first. as far as mounting... if you have a cockpit, you can place it above the wheel or even mount it near where your normal mirror is in your car.

Possibility's are endless. :)

I am still trying to figure out why Sony didn't utilize the PSP as a remote to control teh PS3. Ranks right up there with the IPhone not being Stereo bluetooth capable.

Imagine driving the GT-R around, with the PSP alongside your wheel, acting as the display made by PD themselves on the real car ;) with all the telemetry data and etc. that would be nice, and also immersive :)

It was removed for F1:CE, and no one has ever brought up the notion again. I think that Sony and developers are finding tie-ins like the one they did with Resistance 2 and Resistance Retribution are likely to be more profitable than just having it work as tool for one game. Similarly, they are possibly making GT PSP have cars move into GT5, guaranteeing that you are buying two games to utilize the cross-system features.

Just making it as a rearview mirror would only be requiring one game to use it, and then it is only replacing a current feature and not doing anything new that would make you desire it even more.

I'm assuming you mean as more than Remote Play, but rather as another full controller to work like the $25 Bluetooth Remote Control? <- That right there is why they didn't.

I'm sorta combining the HUD thread and this thread here, but bear with me. I think it'd be cool if you could have the PSP show some HUD stuff you wanted to turn off on your TV screen, but still needed every once in a while.

Stuff like split times, car position, and maybe even the track map. You'd mount it somewhere on your steering wheel and it'd just be like a conduit to your crew chief, giving you all the vital information on your race. Then, when you need to pit, as your pulling in you could use the PSP's controls to dial in commands for what you want to do in the pit. Change tires, refuel, etc.

I know this is just incredibly wishful thinking, and it's this kind of thinking that caused all the disappointment about these recent gameplay videos of GT5, but don't worry. If this stuff isn't included in GT5 I won't be complaining, not like I have a PSP anyways.

^ I agree with that too. Mirror/HUD... and extra interactivity would be welcome. And if it doesnt come in the final product that its not a big deal. I though it would be some cool to incorporate and add as a "New Industry Standard."

what i would like to see is the capability to set up 3 monitors to where you have a left side and right side view. it would be awesome to have that in tight racing 👍 and it would also give you the sense of speed more :sly:
