I was wondering if any of you think GT5 will have Sixaxis steering support because it has been offered in a range of PS3 games such as Motorstorm, Burnout, Nascar etc. Also nearly all Wii games offer motion controlled steering like Mario Kart.

Now I know that if you want a realistic experience most would by a wheel but I'm slightly dissapointed at the lack of Sixaxis use in games in general and it would be nice if PD, a first party dev would make use of the technology seeing as its in every controller.

The Sixaxis does have the potential to be used in some major way in GT such as turning your field of view on interior mode but would anyone here like there to be Sixaxis steering?, even if its just for fun or for use when when your away from a wheel. I know I would appreciate a different way to play GT.

It would only be any use for fun reasons.
From my experience the SIXAXIS steering is not so great, particularly in Motorstorm, where it's a little to sensitive.

Indeed it is.

Anyone here whose played Burnout Paradise knows if you turn the controller even slightly to the right or left your car is doing a 360.

Wouldnt work in a sim racing game when you hold the controller free in your hands, the feedback is not there.

How about just using it for looking around the cockpit? Much better than the right analogue stick in my opinion as you could look around without taking your thumbs off other controls

Could be good, Could be awful, As long as you could turn it off if it sucked I don't think it would be a bad thing to have.

Yeahh. If it was too sensitive it would be impossible to drive with. However, it could be really useful if they got it right for rallying and drifting etc. where the car is sideways a lot. Much better than the 'look-to-apex' that's been talked about on here I think.

Hey check out my idea for the future of pad racing :) Mock me you can and mock me you shall but this is the way forward! Nerds and gentlemen, i give you......

The definitive pad of this generation!

Ok so its just a poorly, (half modeled) ps3 pad with the analogues ripped out and a BMW steering wheel and gearstick shoved in but its a start 💡

Actually I have Prologue set up so that the right analog acts as the shifter. Of course it's not H-pattern. I never use the controller anymore anyway though.

Six-Axis motion control is mostly useless.

Some exceptions:

-WipEout HD/Fury
-Flower
-Linger in Shadows

That is all. :D

I don't think I've ever played a game on the PS3 that actually used SIXAXIS well enough that I didn't want to throw my controller against the wall so I could break it and never have to expose myself to the horrors again...

I agree. Its to gimmicky for me. Plus the PS3 controller is way to light to be holding in front of you for a whole race. If I want to race like that I'll buy a Wii.

But I still think it will be an option as every controller has it. Does GT5:P utilize this?

lol wii-mote and natal style
I don't need that stuff, and imo it's not accurate at all so definitely useless... we don't need a gran turismo junior

ahahah, you should make a dj version :D 2 turntables you could spin instead of the sticks

edit sorry about the double post

Would be nice as an option - can't see me using it - but could be a good laugh after a few beers!! (Remember kids - don't drink and drive)

I think the reason why so many people find the SIXAXIS steering too sensitive is because your turning something which is small in your hand so the movement distance is amplified.

Im sure if you stuck the controller to something with a larger diameter like a plate it would be a lot eaiser to use. The Wii already realised this and made that steering wheel attachment.

I still think it would be a neat addition, there could be SIXAXIS only online leaderboards (like there are for wheel users). Plus its as easy to implement as something like in game XMB music, PD just have to flick the switch!

Socom actually uses it very well. You can tilt your controller to lean while shooting. It has several different sensitivity settings for it, so you can get it set just right. Other then socom though, I haven't found a game it even works decent with.

I think it would be a good idea to use the Sixaxis as a steering wheel because I use it for F1 Championship Edition. The only downside to it is that my arms get tired doing a 50 or 71 lap race, but even I had asked the same question a while back. It would be a great addition to GT Series for those who can/or have enough stamina to do it without the aid of a Steering Wheel attached to a Steering Wheel Colum. The other factor that would not make if plausable is how on earth would you change gears manually??

Anyway it would be nice if PD could find a way to make it work.

Steering in mid-air with zero resistance....awful. They can put it in if they like, but it's a mode I won't be taking advantage of! It suits something like Mario Kart with its forgiving driving style, but not something like GT5.

Nothing's been confirmed about this but i think Sony is/has given up on the whole six-axis thing. They don't seem to mention it at all during marketing, and no new games that i can think of take advantage of it. Also those who have played Uncharted 1 will know it was used in several situations, however in Uncharted 2 there is absolutely no use of six-axis at all, none.

Also they are working on the whole wand thingy.

That being said i agree that it could be used effectively for moving around the interior. Bet PD havn't thought of that though, quick somebody send them an email

SIXAXIS is rubbish for steering. Only for some little things it's nice, like Killzone 2 uses it to snipe. Every minor jolt or tweak of your hand translates into a more jittery aim.

It barely even works for Mario Kart.

F1:CE is terrible with sixaxis, sixaxis is only good when used to simple tasks (deploying flares in tom clancys HAWX,and throwing people around in godfather)
