Looks pretty much as we thought it would.

Now that some of the big names like Mercedes and McLaren have finished revealing their beasts for Frankfurt, the exotic Italian automaker Lamborghini is preparing to put them all to shame with the Reventon Roadster! However, before you get too excited, take this into consideration: there will be only 20 examples of this kind of open air beauty on the road, and each of them will be priced at a very lofty $1,750,000.

Like its coupe brother, the Reventon Roadster features a jet-inspired carbon fiber body complete with aggressive 18 inch wheels while under the hood Lamborghini will place a 6.5 Liter V12 that makes an astounding 650 HP and 486 lb-ft of torque coupled to the automaker’s six speed e-gear transmission. This combination of high performance pistons and electronically controlled cogs will allow the upcoming Reventon Roadster super car to go from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds while reaching a top speed of around 211 MPH. How’s that for wind in your hair.
And nothing new performance wise. Like the LP640 Roadster & the 6.2 before it, Lamborghini has made the Roadster & the Coupe equal in performance figures.

The only thing new to me is that increase in production numbers, as I originally heard around 9-10.
But, like the original, these will sell to suckers from around the world.

Lamborghini should really look into making stealth planes. Or an F1 car.

I don't like the suede or whatever the interior is covered in, but then again, I'll probably never see one sooo... Overall the car looks pretty cool, just needs wings, and an air mask with helmet that has the retractable visor, fighter pilot style.

It's meant to look like an F22, hence all the "radar-deflecting" jaggies. I dont' like it much either, but I DO like the fighter-inspired interior.

I'm mildly surprised that they didn't give Reventon 2.0 the SV treatment, or at the very least the SV engine upgrades. Seems odd that the flagship isn't even as fast as the best "true" Murcielago anymore.

God that interior is ridiculous... And I love every bit of it.

But, I'm going to echo Toronado and take it a little further; I'd rather have an SV.

I love the "oh crap" handle for the passenger's left hand.

Some angles I like how this thing looks, others I can't stand.

I don't know if it's the picture but why does the steering wheel center look like it's off an old buick?

Well, in truth, the Murcielago wasn't the fastest Lamborghini either, as the Gallardo was able to out-accelerate it at one point & was definitely more poised on the track. The only that really made the Murcielago the flagship is that it was a ludicrous V12 car with a lot of power that made it go very fast.

The SV is just Lamborghini letting the Murcielago go out in "style", sort of like how Ferrari let the 360 go out with the CS & the 430 with the Scuderia...well, the 16M, I guess.

Only Lamborghini could take a car, to a rebadge job, make it look totally wild and sell it for $2m a pop. GM must be doing something very wrong for getting nearly the opposite result on the same practice.

And 18 inch wheels? I can get those on a $17,500 Golf. You can buy a whopping 100 Golfs for the money, and it still has the same wheels on it? I'd have thought something as wild as this would have at least 20s.

Steering wheels always seem to be a bit of a weak point on cars in terms of styling I think.

Got a whole lot going on there, kinda "busy" looking,I think it would scare most folks off the road to see that oncoming.

It doesn't have 20's because the Europeans aren't making their super cars gigantic so that a giant set of wheels compensates the large body, which is exactly what America does. 18" wheels are still just fine for sports cars.

Way too much going on with the car as far as the jagged edges,points,etc......not a very nice design.

Difference is that the Lambo will be worth double that in a few years, whereas GM will probably get the opposite result.

I guess there's a market out there for people earning more than they can spend, Lambo might as well target it and continue to make such extreme cars. I for one, am happy such cars are still being made even in the economic situation we're in and all the talk of the hey-day of the hypercar close to being over.

I'd buy one if I were a hedge fund manager or a billionaire playboy astronaut male model. ;)

Edit: Also, I was talking to a friend the other day about how people go on about the price of a veyron. You could buy a hundred Veyron for the price of some of superyachts such as The Indian Empress, Octopus or The Maltese Falcon. For Roman Abramovich's Eclipse, you could buy HUNDREDS of Veyron. It's mind-blowing how much money some individual people actually have.

The Reventon looks horrible, but the little kids don't want to admit it because they're so busy going "cool a lambo, that thing is so fast i bet it can go a thousand miles per hour!"
Bram Turismo
+1

Nope, there's nothing wrong with 18s on sports cars. But the car really isn't designed to do much more than look pretty cruising down the boulevard. And it seems that most cars that are done up to look cool have generally bigger wheels.

I just thought it was funny that the Golf I could buy for a penny on the dollar compared to the Reventon has wheels that are the same size.

And another thing, why release the roadster overf a year after the coupe? That's already gone and forgotten, the want for a limited edition, special design lamborghini has faded.

It's obvious: the Reventon is for poseurs, the SV for real drivers. Well, within the small world of Lamborghini buyers, at least.

So, your opinion on the looks suddenly matters most & everyone who does like it is just lying to themselves?

It may be done to look cool (the real reason is to get Lamborghini more money, nothing more), but Lamborghini isn't going to sacrifice performance, esp. in the Roadsters they produce.

Because that's how it's always been?

The 6.2 Roadster released 2 years after the Coupe.
The LP640 Roadster released 10 months after the LP640.
The Reventon Roadster has now been shown 2 years after the Coupe.

They do that so that Coupe sales continue to thrive because the Roadsters actually tend to fill up their order forms. The 6.2 Roadster filled its order sheets faster than the 6.2 Coupe originally did when it was shown. The LP640 Roadster nearly did the same. Another reason is because Lamborghini want to make sure the Roadsters are just as exciting as the Coupes, and do so by making top speed & 0-60's virtually equal, a feat not commonly done.

The Reventon Roadster wasn't even originally planned either when the Reventon was designed. But when the rumors came out, it was obviously Lamborghini would make sure every Reventon sold before coming out with a Roadster.

As for the desire on these cars, you really have no clue. The Reventon is barely a year old, and dealers already want $1.6 million for a used one, $200K above list. And with the Roadsters as desired as they are, a Reventon won't be any different. A LP640 Roadster retails $382,400 new. People are already willing to spend $420,000 just to get one with delivery miles to skip production wait. And the SV will be the exact same way since it's a limited car as well. $450K new, 1 on the US soil already available for $484K for those who don't want to wait.

If there is a Lamborghini that is a limited edition & has a lot of "flash", it'll go for big bucks in 5 years.

I'll take mine in flat black. Thank You.

(And it has to come with the fighter pilot helmet.)

I like it better then the coupe. If I had the cash, I'd buy it, and thrash on it

I'll happily be a sucker and buy one of those, even though its not an SV I dont give a damn!

I like this design a lot more than the Murciélago or the Gallardo, much more rediculous and Lambo-esque.
Bordering on Countach levels of eye-popping looks, be it in a good or bad way.

I've always loved the proportions of the Reventon. It's radical and unnecessary, just as a supercar, and Lamborghini should be.

Love the interior, but the grille/intake could definitely have been designed differently on both the roadster and the coupe...it's a bit ugly. I prefer the One-77 though.

As I always like to think - who the hell buys a supercar because it's practical?
