Welcome, here at Renown Tuning we aim to provide some of our best settings for even the wildest vehicles; we're new in the game so we're starting smaller with the current Need For Speed Shift, but we will move our business over toward Gran Turismo 5 and Forza Motorsport 3 the second the opportunity presents itself. Being that this is our grand opening we are readily able and willing to acknowledge feedback of any kind. At Renown Tuning we focus on track specials, and all the speed for your money. All profiles are constantly updated as the settings improve under circumstances. We will however provide custom individual settings on a request-only basis, by these means you could have such settings provided to you (the customer) by private means also at request.

We provide settings based purely on that of a racing nature, we do not specialize in drifting. Our primary goal is simple and that goal is to give you the best possible simulation experience in Shift to the very best of my experience and abilities. All of the settings will be handled by myself and I've said already I'm more than happy to acknowledge criticism whether it be negative or positive, so long as it's civilized, otherwise it will just be disregarded. I'm going to list my own personal favorites/settings shortly but let's concentrate on the task at hand first - speed and stability!

Renown Tuning has had a successful quarter thus far and as such I figured it'd be more than appropriate to expand on the procedural techniques involved, and establish a few good policy standards.

What goes into testing and how does Renown Tuning test vehicles?

Our official test track is London River, all of the RT-Spec vehicles are driven hard around every corner, whereby oversteer, understeer, body roll and braking are carefully monitored and evaluated according to such solutions as...

- How much countersteer is needed to maintain the vehicle's orientation?
- Is the overall braking distance satisfactory?
- Is the suspension capable of absorbing bumps without bottoming out as a result?
- Are the aerodynamic properties satisfactory without severely hindering the cars performance?

What constitutes as a "good" lap time?

- Depending on the vehicle and the tier it belongs to that time can vary from car to car, however, a general rule of thumb is a good lap around London River with any vehicle is typically less than 1 minute, 30 seconds.

How long does it take for a vehicle to qualify as being "RT-Spec"?

- Again, depending on the tier it can vary from one car to the next. Some cars are a lot easier to tune than others, some only require minimalist effort while others require time and concentration. The standard waiting period for any tune to be stocked is within 24 hours, unless otherwise noted.

Does Renown Tuning offer drift tunes?

- We waited around long enough knowing someone would specialize in this; so, in short, yes, now we do offer drift tunes.

What if I am unhappy with the tune?

- Simply alert me to whatever the problem may be and I will do my best to alleviate the problem as soon as possible.

What's the difference between a Track Special, Speed Special, RT Custom, and RT Exclusive tunes?

- First off, before the answer is addressed in full, the reason these tunes are divided amongst four sets is for ease of access and are purposely arranged as such. As for the differences, a Track differs from a Speed Special in the specific sense that the former has the sole intent of giving the best performance around a track, allowing the user to get around any track as fast as possible using as much speed and aerodynamic ability as possible. The latter focuses on getting the absolute of performance capability while maintaining overall stability. An RT Custom is that which has been specifically requested by a customer, and an RT Exclusive are the tunes of my own personal taste according to my own driving style, or at least to the extent that the game will allow.

Does Renown Tuning have any specific "business" hours?

- In fact we do, Renown Tuning is available Monday through Thursday for all reasonable hours, and we are closed Friday through Sunday, however, this does not mean requests still cannot be filed within that time.

You speak of expanding your "business" to other games, are you still intending to carry out with this procedure?

- Absolutely. A specific garage for Gran Turismo 5 has a tentative opening of sometime in 2010

I'm currently having some problems with my controller settings and/or I can't seem to find a comfortable setting; what would you suggest?

-
The AdCon (Adjust Control) settings I use are as follows...

Steering Dead Zone: 25%
Accelerator Dead Zone: 12%
Brake Dead Zone: 12%
Steering Sensitivity: 30%
Accelerator Sensitivity: 60%
Braking Sensitivity: 60%
Speed Steering Sensitivity: 100%
Inverse Shifting: Off
Camera Y Axis: Normal

See Post #814 for the updated settings.

I've been using these settings since I've started the shop and it's been nothing but good to me. Now, while I would say these are the "recommended" settings, they are in no way, shape, or form imperative. Consider these settings a starting point if you wish to experiment.

Great tunes Terronium! Are you taking requests, btw? I'm looking for a solid WRX STi tune right now for Tier 2 races.

I can definitely take my first request, can it wait until tomorrow/later on today?

RT is about to close, aka, I'm hungry and about to go to bed.

One question: do we want to be making the cars any easier to drive than they already are?

Also, I haven't tuned any of the cars yet. If I do, is it possible to revert back to their stock set-up when you want?

I'd have to go back and play to be sure, but I believe I have all of the Stage II Upgrades, Level 1 weight reduction, and probably a few other things. I don't have Stage III upgrades unlocked right now.

As soon as you check provide the info on whatever upgrades you have and I'll get to it ASAP. 👍

Well I have enough cash to purchase all the upgrades (besides Stage III), so if it is optimal to install everything I can, just tune it that way.

I test drove this around Laguna Seca and the London River track (my personal test track) and it handles quite well, there's a hint of oversteer but it's neither overwhelming nor a means for concern. The car itself is very well planted for it's current trim, however, the only problem are the brakes - you have to brake early, not too early but in it's current trim braking distance is a bit too wide and also try not to steer to the left or right while braking because the friction created will slightly increase the distance.

Test drive it for yourself before entering any events and see how it feels, if there are any problems that I might have missed for whatever reason, alert me and I'll adjust the problem.

UPDATE: Adjusted to Stage III at request and the results are basically the same as before but intensified. The Impreza is very well-planted and will go exactly where to point it, but again understeer takes precedence if you push too hard and while the braking has improved it is still required that you brake early. Fastest lap time recorded at London River is 1:25.730.

*Driver's Note: Top speed was not a priority with these settings, acceleration, stability and turn-in were. Also worth noting is the suspension bottoms out through means which seem to be out of my control, you'll notice the rear diffuser makes contact with the road and you'll hear a pitched noise which is the diffuser scratching the tarmac. Further explanation down below.

UPDATE: Settings have been updated but as usual all previous settings will still be included in the parentheses', also added the final two aerodynamic settings that I somehow missed. :P

Tested around the London River track and fastest lap time recorded before the final lap was 1:19.850, it is very well capable of shaving off at the very least one full second. As mentioned earlier a Works Converted R35 is naturally bottomed out and I'm working on it, but performance is in no way impeded whatsoever. There's a hint of very slight oversteer but it's controllable as is the aim of all of my tunes, I haven't necessarily driven this as hard as the Zonda R or the CCX so until further notice I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying to mass through a corner as I reckon understeer will take precedence. Feel free to test that out for yourself and leave feedback, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated and would only improve my efforts.

UPDATE: Also has been driven around Donington National with the improved gear ratios and fastest lap time recorded before the final lap was 1:08.410, top speed should be somewhere in excess of 160. It hasn't been taken onto the Nordschliefe so final confirmation to follow shortly.

UPDATE: Fastest lap time recorded is now 1:18.670.

DO NOT expect this to bury deep into the corners, as it's "locked" in top speed mode it's going to be a slippery and the faster you attempt to mass through a corner, any corner, you're only increasing your chances of traveling a wide distance. Further explanation down below.

Was tested at the London River track and the fastest lap recorded was 1:17.310. Our intention is to always provide the best possible simulation experience within Shift and with the Veyron this experience is no different, it is very stable in a straight line but it wouldn't be in the best of interest to attempt to apply full throttle from a standstill around a corner, because like the RT CCX, you absolutely will oversteer. Acceleration was one of many key factors in this tune and while top speed hasn't been tested it may not do 252 anymore in exchange for the drastic increase in said acceleration.

The rear does tend to step out if you push too hard and the intent of trying to mass through a corner is not advised as mentioned above. This tune isn't meant for pure downforce as it just isn't going to bury very well without the air-brake. With that being said braking is very solid and in most corners you will be able to brake considerably late while still maintaining proper stability while turning into or out of a corner. Another key factor was the balance between understeer and oversteer situations and while it seems quite balanced and fair to me, try the settings out for yourself and see if you like the way it feels.

UPDATE: With the recent AdCon adjustments, the fastest timed lap around London River is now 1:15.370.

Thanks for the tune man, it works great! Having very little trouble with Tier 2 events with this car/tune. As you said, it does have a tad bit of oversteer and requires early braking, but nothing that my driving style cant adjust to. Good job. 👍

Lamborghini LP560-4 - Stage III (All compatible upgrades)

Driver's Note: Until the excessive bump/bounce issue is dealt with it is advised that you do not turn too sharply into very sharp corners that have rumble strips on the outer edge, if you make contact at anything above an ideal the car will jounce uncontrollably. The reason for this being there had to be a compromise made between speed and aerodynamic downforce, and while the issue can be resolved (settings will be provided) it severely limits acceleration/top speed capability. Further explanation down below.

Driver's Note 2: Originally the body kit was affixed to the LP560-4, RT advises it be removed for optimal performance. The body kit hampers performance a great deal and judging by furthered testing it was the cause for the excessive bouncing (on this vehicle).

Fastest lap time recorded is 1:19.990 at London River. The car is now capable of taking sharper corners but be advised cautionary tactics are still to be used as the rear end steps out slightly and it may jump if the entry speed toward a rumble strip is too fast, however, both are controllable. There's still the issue of bump-jumping but it isn't close to the issue it was with the body kit affixed. The ratios listed are ideal for power tracks where top speed isn't as important as turn-in and stability prowess. An alternative set can be listed at request. You can brake late into most corners, but again, be alert to your entry speeds if you plan on using the rumble strip. There's a small hint of oversteer but the vehicle powerslides more than it oversteers.

Hi, i was just thinking that you should give the values of the 'Adjust Control' settings that you are using under the 'Gameplay' options as this im guessing would affect how your tunes will handle :D.

Once we (I) get back under way (a new copy of Shift) I will definitely do that. 👍

can i request tuning for another car  !?

I would jump at the chance, but unfortunately due to the Xbox scratching my copy beyond the point of being readable, services are temporarily on hiatus until later in the week. The latest (very latest) I can get back to this would be on Friday but I reckon I'll be back before then. :indiff:

Perhaps in the meantime you'll take some requests of possible vehicles in for consideration. Or post a teaser which cars you are considering giving the RT treatment.

I'd really like to see an Audi awd tuned for a stint around Spa...

This being a prime GT community, I suppose by now we are all quite used to having juicy carrots dangled in front of our noses

Are either of them Works Converted/Do you want Works Conversion tuning? Body Kits? What stage upgrades?

They're stage 3 now, do u have to retune it for the changes between Stage 3/Full and the works? Oh, my friend loves his GT3, How bout that?

Technically, no. The only noticeable differences I've noticed between Stage 3 and Works Conversion is further decreased body roll, and lessened top end performance in exchange for downforce and such. Only two things that would really have to re-tuned are the gear ratios and the suspension/ride height.

The RS will also be added.
