GT Planet Monthly Photographic Contest – October

OK the first of the GT Planet Monthly Photographic competitions is now open, this month’s theme is:

October – ‘Seasons’

As long as, if asked, you can state how your picture fits this theme, you are free to photograph whatever you like (subject to the AUP of course), however you like.

The rules are:

-Entries will open on the first day of the month (1st October)

-Each competition's voting last for one week, voting will be opened on the first day of the month.

-Entries must be in by midnight (GMT) on the last day of the month, no exceptions (31st October).

-All entered photographs must have been taken between January 2008 and the present day.

-Entries must be posted as a thumbnail without extending 500pixels on the longest side. Full sized images may be no larger than 900pixels on their longest side.

-You must only submit your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work from the internet or if someone you know took the photograph.

-Any watermark you place on your image must be in any corner of the image as long as it does not obstruct the subject of the image.

-Only one photograph per person. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.

-You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.

-The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Location, Date and Camera used.

- No limits regarding the use of Photoshop or any other image processing software will be placed on entries, as long as it’s all your own work, it allowed.

Good shooting everyone and I look forward to seeing your entries.

We have a first entry and what a blindingly good one it is as well.

Thankyou Scaff. I was wondering when everyone was getting round the entering. I may change my entry at some point though, I just discovered an amazing Macro trick using my kit lens and my old Fujica primes at 28mm, 55mm and 135mm.

I got my new lens (half cheers to Scaff) - the Nikkor f1.8 50mm and I have some great shots of spring flowers, but I've had a great idea, so I'll get snapping again. :D

Ignore me, brain fade.

EDIT: May as well turn this post into something productive. Think I have an idea now, though I'll have to see if I can apply it.

I've finally come up with a good couple of ideas for this, now I just have to see if I can get them to work.

This may not be my final entry as I have a few ideas still floating around that I have not yet found the right subject for, however I wanted to get an image up.

I will get in on this as soon as I get some pictures download off my camera.

Beautiful pic, Scaff 👍 I'm waiting for some good weather before I get my shot. And if it keeps raining like it has been the last few days, my idea will need a bit of tweaking...

Thanks 👍

I agree that the weather here in the UK has been a bit of a pain for me as well. When its good I'm in work, when I'm not in work its either dark or raining. I managed to grab some time with good light on my way home from work yesterday, just glad I take the camera bag to work with me.

I might as well stumble into this one. I had an idea which would have been good, and they were some good shots - I just think this one has more visual impact.

I tried to do something other than cars... I can't. :P

Yes, nice to see something other than autumnal colours! I was wondering when GTP's multi-hemisphere nature was going to show itself.

Didn't get to use my "idea" in the end, running out of time and the weather didn't go how I wanted it to! Though in fairness, hoping for the UK weather to do what you want is a losing battle...

I was expecting to rain the whole month for the photo I was looking for, but that just didn't happen. Well, it rained, allot, I may say, but just one day and I didn't have the camera with me. So, since it is such a great weather for Autumn (it feels more like late Spring than anything), I had to toke it to the place people go in Summer time, the beach.

Trees, here, didn't even start to lose up they're leaves...

I chose to do this, after scrapping at least 5 other ideas.

This is meant to symbolize a fast jaunt through an autumn forest, trees on fire, leaves being thrown up behind. Engine wailing...

Am I right in saying its a model? Or did you manage to capture something like that? Either way, its quite a dramatic shot 👍.

Nice shot Longbow, the wheel blur is a bit off though. Make sure you specify the blur center next time.

It wasn't supposed to be 'clean' blur - it was supposed to me messy, showing the fury of whats happening.

How would you know? Anyway, it's kind of hard to get blur when part of the wheel is hidden. The blur behind the car looks a bit messed up aswell.
