How realistic is RBR? (Richard Burns Rally)

I'm trying to find a good rally sim to start using to practice w/o risking damage to anymore cars and I was wanting to know how realistic is RBR?

RBR is easily the most realistic rally sim atm. its pretty good for understanding how to shift the weight of cars around, but i think the game doesn't simulate the effects of downforce that WRC cars have at high speeds very well :/ Unless you have a track perfectly memorized, you cant really push @ 100% all of the time. You gotta find a rhythm and pay close attention to pace notes for longer rally stages. the damage is pretty unforgiving too. I'm in the process of reinstalling RBR and the latest RSRBR atm :) Dirt 2 is very fun and you can use stuff like Scandinavian flicks to get around hairpins in that game. graphics are much better than RBR, but its not as realistic.

How do I check (my system specs?)

Well you have a copy of RBR. I would like to order one from you for my rally-superfan friend:D
Just kidding. Check yer com's specs by going to:
Start menu>all programs>accessories>system tools>System information.

This is Henning and Petter Solberg driving RBR and you can see that they handle it very well. I take that as a sign that it is pretty realistic, and Henning's time is quite fast to (try to make that time on your second attemt!!) They might have tried RBR before this video, but i doubt they have time to play games much.. RBR is my favorit rally sim and I think it feels very real although I am not the right man to jugde that.

I could not find the video, but I have heard Petter Solberg saying its VERY realistic..

yeah, rbr is the only game where going 100mph is scary :P. Anyone know how to easily watch replays after installing RSRBR? It automatically quits after i finish a stage...

Well I now know it's definetly my video card :( , and now you are hearing this coming from a amatuer rally driver this is the most realistic game. But if someone could, I'm an american rally driver, so I need some american stages, so could someone make the 100 Acre Wood, Sno*Drift, and Tim O'Niel Rally School.

I'm friends with Travis Pastrana, he also plays this (He reccommended it to me :D )

So can anyone do this?

Hey has anyone tried to make a handbrake on RBR using a Logitech attack 3 joystick?

RBR is not like CMR or WRC, that's a proper WRC simm. For beginners i wouldn't recommend because they might get to scared and think of it as to hard to handle.

Would love to see some shots of you car, as that's quite a claim to make.

But not as big a claim as this one is.

The AUP here does categorically state that any misleading posts are grounds for infractions.

How you would prove such a claim is beyond me, but then again I didn't make it.

Hey! Who made the previous post? That would make it a double post, no? Who has just been given a warning for making double posts? Who has been given an infraction for ignoring said warning and making more double posts?

On top of that, the post is off topic for this thread. Making a handbrake from a joystick has nothing to do with the realism of RBR. 💡

Yes realism can be only achieved by using Wheel, DFP, DFGT, G25, G27. Ive never seen anyone play RBR on PAD :ill:

Backing on track RBR has more realism thanks to driving psychics that can be upload into the game. You can use so many of them! N group cars, WRC cars, Group B cars S2000 cars. Man this game will never get old!

But do you notice how most of the responses (except posts 2 & 3) are pretty much 24hrs apart to the minute?? While I don't agree with his multiple posting, it is within the realms to do such a thing because he's not doing all of those posts within a 10 minute period, but it would be better for him to edit 1/2 those posts and not look so silly.

What the flaming hell did you just say?

Go read the times of his multiple posts Tom, they are EXACTLY 24hrs apart except for posts 2 & 3. We've been told before, if it's over 24hrs you can double post to a degree.

That clear it up for ya?

RBR is very realistic, it's the only sim I've ever played that gives the feeling of driving a car fast. Hands shaking and heart pumping after doing a good stage.:)👍

Sure I send you some as soon as I find my camera

Well cause adding a handbrake could increase the realism

Just so you know, and maybe if a regular user tells you this it might get met with less annoyance than if a mod does, but here in GTP we tend to take these affirmations and claims seriously. The usual method of proving it is by means of a picture. Claiming your camera is lost or doesn't work isn't going to count as a valid excuse.

The picture should be of the car/person you are claiming to have/know plus yourself and a piece of paper with your username written on it and a message like "Hi GTP!", though this last bit is optional.

Until such claims are proven, you'll be placed in the Ludicrous Claims Thread. Congrats if you are indeed a rally driver are friends with Travis Pastrana 👍

Actually I meant I'm in class right now, so I meant as soon as I get home I'll find (cause it's usually on my desk.)

Just tell us your name (if you feel comfortable of course) and we can look you up in the Rally America standings. There;s plenty of information on the Rally America website.

Thats the thing I haven't applied for any events yet, at the moment I'm practicing at the gravel roads in my area, but I plan on entering STPR & NEFR this summer.

RBR is realistic enough to be used by Super2000-class suspension mechanic to teach us how to detect bad suspension setup, flat tire or similar just by driving the car.

If I only was a mechanic.. I have big problems with tuning in RBR, as I understand the tuning in RBR is one of the more impressive/realistic things about RBR. Couple of years ago now, but I read a post from a rally mechanic on a forum and he said the tuning is very accuarate and true to life 👍 And no it was not a advert :D

Well when I'm using the RSRBR 2010 mod the car is to grippy on tarmac, does anyone have a reccomended setup for drifting on tarmac?

So has anyone found any user made physics updates that are any good?

Hey everyone, I need some help on RBR, whats a good setup on the subaru for american style rally racing (i.e. drifting on tarmac) please help, thanks :D
