Peak of Perfection

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Peak of Perfection thread. This thread was spawned due to an idea I had. A couple of nights ago I got severely bored and was racing myself in practice rounds trying to beat my shadow. Eventually I had worked my time on the course down to what I considered a perfect time seeing as it took me over 50 laps even to get close to that time again.

So I had an idea to start a thread with people posting their best times on individual courses.

However it occurred to me that some cars are in fact better than others, so here are the rules.

Rule #1: The race time must be recorded from practice runs. (Gran turismo main menu, "city courses" "original circuits" and the like)

Rule #2: You may only use the "Formula Gran Turismo '04" car (won from the Nurburgring 24 Hours Endurance)

Rule #3: The Formula Gran Turismo '04 MUST REMAIN STOCK. (No modifying the transmission, downforce etc.)

Rule #4: You may only race normal courses. (NOT REVERSE)

Rule #5: You must post proof of your time (such as a photo or video, those found to be cheating will not be able to post.)

Rule #6: At no time during your run may you leave the track or make contact with the wall.

Rule #7: Have fun with it.

Posting rules! (Yay more rules!)

In your post you must post a picture or video link to your run and it must be clearly visible. (Must be able to see the track/time/car on the menu)

Also (just for S/G) you may post the number of laps you had to run to get your time.

The top 5 times for each individual course will be posted. Good luck!

Sidenote: You can submit times without a pic, but the times with a pic will always be higher then the ones without since they are proven.

These are the best times submitted thus far on each individual course.

Oh ok. I just wanted it to be clear and perfect like the other users. But I guess cameras will do.

However, I do not have the cable to hook up to my computer yet.

Well, work on your time and take a snap shot. And I said you needed a clear picture, not a "screen shot" digital cameras will do. Because for the moment all I have is a camera phone, and I can't figure out how to get my amazing time off of it. I ran a 59.965 on special stage route 5. thats hard core o_o

You know, it's never a good idea to brag about your times on a message board with a lot of really experienced GT4 drivers. It took me four laps to beat your "amazing time" by six tenths; I got a 59.356, which was still really sloppy. And before you ask, yes, I did drive a clean lap, and I used standard power, weight, and transmission (the tires can't be changed), no driving aids, and a controller, not a wheel. I can even record a video if you want, but to go to that amount of trouble, I would probably first improve my lap to the mid-58s or lower.

Well ya know when you waist a couple hours getting your time under a minute, you think its good. Excuse me for not being perfect. No need to be snotty.

Edit: Yes i'm aware of the irony.

Silvercast, you're absolutely right, and I apologize for the unnecessarily hostile tone of my post. :guilty: I have a bad habit of overreacting to posts that strike me the wrong way. Your lap is still very good; it's very easy to lose a lot of time in the FGT without realizing it. And if you're using driving aids, try disabling them - the ASM kills lap times (I assume that you weren't using it), and it's actually pretty easy to cope even without TCS if you stay mostly in third gear or higher. 👍

I drive it as i got it. Honest to god I've done nothing to it. I chose that car particularly, because its fast, stable, doesn't lag, and you can't modify it. I didn't want to pick a car like a civic or a Zonda because they have largely noticeable flaws. The FGT04 doesn't have any flaws (to my knowledge). its just the best car for this kind of contest. Its about raw skill.:)

Oh dude i pulled a 58.997 i pooed a little when i saw it i was so excited.

I took a look at the FGT on SSR5. It seemed like a good match for the track, particularly with the gearing. I got a clean 58.922 after about an hour of cruising on the DS2. There should be enough time left to run high 57's, as I see .400 of improvement in the first sector (my time was 22.5xx iirc).

The FGT's handling isn't what I would call flawless with the stock settings. It sticks over bumps well enough but doesn't seem to make good use of it's rear brakes, maybe due to the -6 toe setting. Does anyone else find left foot braking useful here?

I regret that I don't have a picture of it but I did save the replay.

No.

Thread bumping (especially your own threads) isn't permitted here at :gtplanet:.

Posting a single word to bump the thread is considered spamming, which is forbidden in our AUP:

You will not post messages that are clearly outside of the stated topic of any Forums nor disrupt a forum by deliberately posting repeated irrelevant messages or copies of identical messages (also known as “flooding”). Spam – wasteful comments and posts, as judged by our moderators, will be removed and the member warned or banned.

Either post some more of your laptimes or let the thread migrate to it's natural position on the board until someone else posts.

Consider this a friendly warning, and please don't do this again. 👍

Just a quick thought. Have you considered running on one track a week? Might get a few more drivers that way. And it might be easier to list the top 5 times for each track. Keeping the stats on all these tracks would be a tough thing to do all at once. I'll even jump in for a few. Give you guys a laugh or two.
