Can someone please explain what is the reason for using higher HP (kw) cars over the car you choose when you increase the difficulty level.

For example in GT4, if I choose an NSX-R and increase difficulty level to 10, the cars I race against are Dodge Vipers, Zonda's and M5's etc.
The thing is, in reality the NSX-R is no match for these types of cars.
U might win on certain tracks, but try the test course...:)

Why can they not use cars that are similar performers to that of the NSX-R..?? They usually do, but if difficulty is set to 0 or less, but then it's so easy to win. It's the same with GT5P.

The only solution I can think of is being able to chose your AI apponents as well as set the difficulty level.

GT5:P and GT4 handle the opponent difficulty differently, if I recall. GT4's is relative to your car, whilst GT5:P is more-or-less absolute, such that you always get the same class of cars at setting "10" (or whatever) regardless of the car that you are in.

For online races, or low-cash "family cup" type races, it'd be cool to choose your AI opponents 👍

I'd love to configure races by myself in terms of opponents. As in, I would love to pick the cars they drive, and maybe even have them drive cars from my own garage w/upgrades and all that.

Took the words right out my mouth :D

and set their tyres and maybe get them to use a particular tune. It seems in Prologue they always drive with S2 tyres?

It would be nice to be able to set up a championship, with any car or cars you choose, set rules, number of cars, number of rounds etc

Here's what I think:
You should have an option of a simple and advanced difficulty chooser. Simple is just choose difficulty -10 to 10, and advanced lets you choose tires, suspension, and the car they drive and such.

The answer is really simple. The A.I. use faster cars on higher difficulty settings as a way to comphensate for the poor A.I. programming. So the programmers have the it set up to have you race faster cars to mislead you into believing you are getting a better challenege. It is the same reason why in some sim events there are occasionally one car that out performs all the rest (is way better). It is also partially why GT4 had "A"-spec points, all to comphensate for the weak A.I.. We all hope that GT5 is better in this regards, and it simply has to be, however we should not expect to much.

The GT series does offer a lot of great features, however a realistic race experience is not one of them. With GT5 this should improve a good deal, especially since NASAR is on board. In the end though GT5 is only as good as you want it to be. Meaning for the most part it is an open platform allowing you to choose your own difficulty within the confines of the game and that my friend is what makes the GT series a good game. With a decent online mode, damage, more cars then ever, the sky should be the limit for finding races that suit your skills and desires.

If you have seen what seems to be the options-screen for hosting online-races, which was used at the GT Academy regional finals, this pretty much does all that. (Drivetrain, Tyres, PP, HP, specific cars, etc.)

It remains to be hoped that this will not only be available for online races, but also for creating your own offline Arcade races. That would be heaven.

Well I think we will get more options. If this pic is any indication it seems as though we will, what options will be available for what mode though is a different story.

yeah but PD will have to have some PP presets for the AI drivers setup before hand, and that could be the stumbling block, since there are so many combinations you can do depending on the track... do you go for power and speed, sacrificing grip or vice versa etc
